In the book, Rebecca is the antagonist who haunts everyone's life, even after her death. During her time alive, she had multiple affairs, manipulated, cheated, and abused her influence. In this thrilling suspense, the reader can unravel the truth through various examples of Rebecca's harsh, cruel, and evil truth, making it evident to the reader that Rebecca was not only cruel but had much influence over those around her, including her husband, Manderly, and regular civilians.

The title of this short essay is “ In Praise of the Threat”, and the author is Rebecca Solnit. Haymarket Books published this short essay in 2014. The main point that Solnit was making throughout the reading was that we should all have the same rights no matter what. She goes on to say that same sex marriages don’t get the same equality and normal one man and one woman get. Solnit also explains how women had not rights and basically when women got married their husbands where the ones who told them what to do.

In Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer the main character Tom testified against Injun Joe in court. Ever since then, Tom’s conscience has been racking him about what Injun Joe may do next now that most people know the truth of the crime, Injun Joe committed the murder. Injun Joe has even been talking about getting some “revenge”. Injun Joe will most likely get revenge on Tom because of what Injun joe has said and done. To start, in the novel it has been stated that Injun Joe has killed once and he may kill again and he said, “‘Tain’t robbery altogether--it’s revenge!”

Scott Fitzgerald use their narrators, Huck Finn and Nick Carraway, to suggest an argument about American society. Seeking adventure, both characters embark on a journey, but their encounters with society leave them appalled. While they each have personal motives for abandoning their past, both end up interacting with different cultures that lead them to a similar decision about society and their futures. Ultimately, they stray from the dominant culture in order to escape the influence of society.

This shows Mark 's opinion because it shows that he wanted Tom a so called white boy to bow down to a black and beg for something; that 's a sight you would never see and he shows it in this book. “It had been imagined that she “would not know,” and would think she was traveling upstream.

Mark Twain emphasizes the theme that a person's morals are more powerful than the corrupt influence of society in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Based on how Huck Finn views the world and forms his opinions, he does not know the difference between right and wrong. In the novel, Huck escapes civilized society. He encounters a runaway slave, Jim, and together they travel hopes of freedom. But along the way, Huck and Jim come across troubles that have Huck questioning his motives.

McIntosh-Byrd suggests that Tom Sawyer is not the iconic, endearing children’s novel that it has been perceived as, complete with “a bright and fresh summer, brimming with life and a song in every heart”(Twain 36). I completely agree with McIntosh-Byrd’s interpretation of the novel as well. During my reading, I noticed constant references to battle and fighting which I dismissed as uninteresting. However, after reading this analysis, I have reconsidered from this angle and found that I agree. For example, she mentions how “Tom’s flouting of authority is a paradigm for American self-determination in the face of tyranny”.
