Night Night, written by Elie Wiesel, is an award winning autobiography of an Auschwitz survivor. Elie Wiesel has the providence of surviving the horrific experience of being held prisoner in some of the most notorious Nazi concentration camps during WWII. He and his family, being Jewish, were taken prisoner by the Nazi military in 1944, when he was a teenager living in Sighet, Transylvania. His family was immediately separated, and he was left with only his father, whom he travelled with through three concentration camps. It was within the Auschwitz concentration camp and Buna work camp where he and his father suffered through repulsive conditions and witnessed treatment, which would later be known as the Nazi’s “Final Solution.”

One of messages Morrie states about his condition is on page 131, “When you’re in bed, you’re dead.” Morrie was not ashamed of his illness or what the affects were on his body. He knew that when he could no longer move or take care of himself, he was no longer living life. This quote came out of the ninth Tuesday meeting about love. With his family taking care of him, even when he was lying in bed, they loved him and he loved them.

Night is a book by Elie Wiesel about his experience with his father in the Nazi German concentration camps at Auschwitz and Buchenwald. They were given no food , the only thing they had was a piece of bread . They lived on snow . No one had strength left and they couldn’t handle it . Elie was only twelve years old when World War ll and the holocaust started. Elie and his family lived in a small house in the town of Sighet, Romania. He was a very smart kid and was engaged in Jewish mysticism.

When in the face of adversity it is key not to give up. One should always strive to persevere through their hardships, no matter how severe they seem to be. “Night” by Elie Wiesel, is a true but tragic story about a kid who lived to survive the Holocaust. However, this book is less a story of the Holocaust and more a story of faith and hope. Hope and Faith was exactly what the camp prisoners needed to even have a chance of surviving the horrific obstacles thrown their way. Hope and faith gave them a reason to keep living, giving them the idea that they had a chance to make it out. This book also goes a lot deeper than just the story of the Holocaust.

Night clearly illustrates that while in the concentration camps, everyone had to fight for themselves in order to live. No one could do it for them. Sometimes in order to live, they had to attack someone they loved for that extra piece of food or that blanket that could make them a tiny bit warmer. It was not a choice that many prisoners wanted to make, but it was necessary for survival. Thanks to Elie Wiesel writing this particular piece of literature, the world is able to be reminded of the horrific things that these people went through for many years of their lives.

This is important to the book as a whole because it connects to elie transformation throughout the entire story. The change is apparent when Elle starts to think wrong of God, when he become less inspired and hopeful person, to him no stating he never wants to live again after being this scared .

“I realized that he did not want to see what they were going to do to me. He did not want to see the burning of his only son”(42). When Eliezer arrives at Auschwitz, the separation of his family puts an emotional toll on his father since he realizes that only him and Eliezer are still alive. This will be a catalyst to their relationship becoming stronger as they endure more together.
