During the time period when the Romans ruled, they used a legal system called The Twelve Tables. This was the Romans’ earliest endeavour to design a code of law. Originally, ten tablets were written, but the plebeians were not contented. Consequently, two more tablets were added. The Twelve Tables are not unlike the American Constitution; however, there are some differences. One example of a difference between the Twelve Tables and the Constitution would be how the Romans said that the plebeians and the patricians could not marry each other; meanwhile, American law states that anyone can marry whoever they please. Another difference would be how Roman law states that “A dreadfully deformed child shall be quickly killed.” American law
