Unsolved History: The Boston Massacre

This is Shatyra Wiley reporting live from the Boston Massacre. If you haven't heard already the colonist are tired of the British taxes them for NO REASON ! The colonist decide to do something about it. The British came on the colonist property war ready.

Edward Buckley here reporting live from Boston where a massacre has just outbroke. British troops were sent in to maintain order of the colonist. The colonist didn't seem to be too happy about that. Large groups of angry colonist came together and began taunting the British soldiers. Along with the taunting, the colonist began throwing snowballs and showing hostile actions towards the British soldiers.

As a witness to The Boston Massacre as a Patriot as an English citizen, I believe that the British Soldiers are unstable to protect us if they will kill us. The acts that lead up to the killing of five patriots were downgrading us. After are Victory in the French and Indian War we became in debt. The British officials decided to make laws such as Writs of Assistance, Sugar Act, Quartering Act, Stamp Act and the Proclamation of 1763 and more were soon made. This just anger us so a boycott was made called The Sons of Liberty the leader was Samuel Adams.

Web Project on the Boston Massacre The Boston Massacre occurred on the 5th of March 1770 on King street in Boston when five residents were killed when English soldiers fired into a crowd of people. The crowd was said to have been unruly, yelling insults at the soldiers, and throwing various objects including snow balls and oyster shells. Eventually when one of the soldiers was struck with a stick and fell to the ground the shooting began.

Colonists did not agree that the British government should raise revenue when it comes to taxing the colonies. The most notable for all that happening was the Stamp Act, the Townshend Tariffs and the Tea Act. The colonists also did not agree with the fact that they were not having the same rights as other British subjects. Because of that, violence occurred on the day of March 5, 1770, which was known as the Boston Massacre. The British soldiers ended up killing five men who were Samuel Gray, Samuel Maverick, James Caldwell, Patrick Carr, and Crispus Attucks.

In 1770, there were 4,000 red coats roaming the streets of Boston. As a result of the Great Awakening in the 1730s-40s, the highly spiritual colonists had a strong dislike for the bad behavior of the red coats. This caused what is known as the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was the first extremely violent encounter between the British and the colonists with shots fired from the red coats. Oddly enough, this resulted in a period of calm.

First of all, the Boston Massacre occurred on March 5th, 1770. An out of control and snowballing crowd caused British soldiers to support an overwhelmed post. These soldiers took matters into their own hands and opened fire on the colonists. Therefore, three colonists immediately

If Preston had given the orders to his soldiers to open fire, he would not have scolded them for their shocking actions. By putting their guns up, he was letting them know that he did not give those orders and that they should not repeat such actions. After the shooting occurred another eye witness, Thomas Peck, had spoken with Preston. Peck questioned the captain on what he thought he had done. According to Peck, Mr. Preston answered that he had nothing to do with the bitter actions of his men that they did it with their own will.

The Boston Massacre was an “incident” that took place on march 5, 1770. On March 5, 1770 the colonists began taunting the British soldiers, this group of colonists called themselves patriots. They were protesting the occupation of their city by british troops that were sent to Boston in 1768 to enforce unpopular taxation measures passed by the British Parliament. The patriots started to riot so, Thomas Preston (the commander) ordered his to straighten their bayonets and join the guard outside the building. The colonists responded by throwing snowballs and other objects at the guards.

Boston was a significant colonial location at the time and was governed by the British. To enforce the taxes levied on the colonies, the British placed troops in Boston. The colonists did not particularly like having the soldiers around since they felt oppressed by the British.

The American colonist were not pleased to find out that they were only allowed to buy tea from the british.

There were many disagreements and because of those, many events were the cause of the American Revolution. These events included bloodshed by others, peoples rights weren’t enforced, individuals didn’t receive freedom, and our country was just not yet whole. Despite of the causes of why the road to Revolution took place there were effects afterwards. When American Revolution was over with the The Declaration of Independence came into place, treaties were signed, and the Bill of Rights. Now these effects/events were amazing, it helped our country tremendously.

The loyalists got very annoyed with the patriots so they shot into the mob killing five. The riot began when around 50 colonists attacked a British sentinel. The Boston Massacre is an event most Americans and British students learn about over the course of their education. In America, we learn that British soldiers fired upon innocent civilians, although this may not have been the case. British historians have referred to the Boston Massacre as the "Incident on King Street". After looking over the "Captain Thomas Preston 's Account of the Boston Massacre", as well as "Boston Massacre Trial Depositions" I believe that American historians should refer to the "Boston Massacre" as the "Incident on King Street". The definition of a massacre refers to an unnecessary and random killing of a large number of individuals.
