The Veteran in a New Field After the Civil War ended on May 9th, 1865, many artists created paintings to depict the vast array of emotions felt by everyone during this time. One such artist was Winslow Homer of Boston, Massachusetts. In his painting, titled The Veteran in a New Field, Homer illustrates (juxtaposes) the relieved yet fearful and anxious mood of the country. Aside from Homer’s intentions, this painting holds various meanings depending on how one interprets it.

Trying to decide what career or job choice you want for your future is a tough decision to make. One day you might want to become a nurse, and the next day, you will want to become a veterinary technician. This is the situation that I went through in the past year, and all I can say is that going to school to become a veterinary technician was the best decision I have ever made regarding my future. I am excited and more ambitious toward my career than I ever have been, and I’m here to tell you why becoming a veterinary technician is an amazing choice to make!

I chose this topic because everywhere I go, I see veterans, homeless and disabled, standing or slumped in a position of despair and hopelessness. These veterans are the results of fighting for our country and safety and now left in a positions of needing someone to fight for them. That should be the "TOP" priority of our Veteran Affairs Administration and reflected in their webpage. We now have so many veterans from so many different facets of life and ethnic backgrounds that the majority of them absolutely no support or hope. What in being done to encourage, support and direct our non famous and not rich veterans who find themselves in a "you 're served us well

On November 11 of every year, we have a day to celebrate our veterans. For many people, it is a day to honor our veterans in addition to thank them for what they done for our country. For me, it feels much more than just honoring them. There are three reasons why Veterans Day means more to me; my Grandpa, family history, and my birthday.

I want to become a Veterinary Tech because I love animals and I love taking care of them. I’m a people person and I enjoy working with the public. Recently, I moved into a neighborhood with a lot of elderly neighbors; I started helping them take care of their dogs. I would get up in the morning and walk their dogs before I left for school.

I learned how to adapt to the individual needs of students to provide them the best education. Like students with a communication disorder, many of my students would shy away from activities or tasks because of obstacles. Through these experiences, I watched my students gain the confidence to participate in activities and excel in academics to become successful individuals. As a future Speech Language Pathologist, many qualities that I possess can be improved by furthering my education.

The presentations provided me a great learning experience for me to teach and share what I know in a classroom setting while getting feedback. I felt more at ease with my second workshop in regards to the transition process/pathway to graduate school, as I was sharing my personal experience mixed with that of the facts and figures that I had research to give students a clear understanding of the process. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, also known as PTSD, is a mental disorder that most often develops after a veteran experiences a traumatic event. While having this illness, the veteran believes their lives are in danger. They also may feel afraid or feel they have no control over what is happening. If their feeling does not go away, the symptoms may disrupt the person 's life, making it hard to continue daily activities.

Having the opportunity to attend Colorado State University, a school that has one of the best veterinary programs, is dream come true in its self, one that has paved a path for me to follow for my long-term goals. Enrolling in vet school is one of the hardest studies, but being a veterinarian has many benefits that offer many impacts to the professional field. My hope is that I will leave a legacy to the veterinary field by running a practice that is successful and passionate about the care of animals. To leave an impact, many innovations will be created throughout my career as a veterinarian, and contribute to the success of the profession

I intend on being more than a dog and cat veterinarian; I desire to help those animals, along with others, such as those found on farms, in zoos, or even in wildlife sanctuaries. I also want to do more than just serve animals; I want to change the veterinary medicine field by creating new and more effective medicines and curing diseases and disorders that are uncured in today’s world. Once I become very successful and financially stable, I would like to help up and coming veterinarians like myself.
