Veterans Benefits

The GI Bill opened the door of higher education to the working class in a way never done before. The bill provided a $20 weekly unemployment benefit for up to one year for veterans looking for work. Job counseling was also available. Medical care for veterans was also provided in the GI Bill. Additional hospitals were established for veterans and the Veterans Administration took over all veteran-related concerns.

After World War II, American society changed dramatically. One change was the GI Bill. This bill provided for veterans after the war. The benefits to this bill was low-cost mortgages, low-interest loans to start a business, cash payments for college, and one year of unemployment compensation. Another change was the population shift.

Servicemen’s Readjustment Act of 1944 is a law that provides benefits for veterans from World War 2. Those benefits include low cost mortgages, low interest loans to start a business, helped established hospitals, covered tuition and expenses for veterans that would attend any college or trade school. These benefits were available for every veteran that severed in the war. This law was important because it helped those veterans who severed for our nation and gave them benefits, which would help them succeed goals. The Servicemen’s Readjustment Act was signed June 22, 1994, which is also known as G.I Bill of Rights.

Veterans and our soldiers are coming home from war or getting out of the military and when they get home they can’t afford rent or they have a mental disease from war. Homeless veterans tend to experience homelessness longer than non-veteran homeless. This should not be happening to our soldiers. This is very undesirable for our troops to come home and becoming homeless. They fight for our freedom and our rights and we repay them by becoming homeless.

That’s why it makes perfect sense to expand and reconstruct the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to undertake such a massive service. Veterans don’t deserve to be treated like this, the forgotten hero’s, now the homeless, and the starving.

I have a few people in my family that are veterans. Their service means alot to me. I admire them for their for their bravery and loyalty to their country. They inspire me in many ways such as to be brave even if the situation requires only a small act of bravery, and to speak out against something I know is wrong. To me veterans need to be honored every day for their service.

Veteran Benefits The issue of veteran benefits in the United States is not taken as seriously as it should be in our country, even though it is a growing problem that needs to be addressed. The lack of available funding for veterans is especially obvious when compared to that available for lower income citizens, or even illegal immigrants. Also, what does exist appears to fall short in taking care of veteran’s needs. Considering that these veterans are people who have risked their lives fighting for this country, the fact that they are not receiving immediate benefits or even what they have earned is unfair.

They also would need to go to the va but most veterans don 't live close enough to one to get the help they need. In contrast to all the things that soldiers have gone through they need all the help they need and deserve it. They need to have unlimited money to give all the help to returning soldiers and past soldiers for the sacrifices they gave to this beautiful country. They also deserve to have all their bills paid for by the va and not charged for it because some can 't afford the bills they are given. The ultimate sacrifice they don 't need the burden of bill to stress them out even more to could lead them to hurting themselves

There are a lot of important reasons why we should honor our veterans. One of the biggest reasons we should honor our veterans is because they risked their lives to protect ours. In some of the scariest, if not the scariest, situations in the world, thousands of soldiers bravely fought for our freedom. Even though they knew the risks, they still decided to go into the military. To this day, many veterans still face side effects of war.

Veterans are some of the bravest men and women that you will ever know. They fought for our country in our most desperate hours and risked their lives so we could have the chance to live ours. It is such a shame that they are ignored and even homeless in today 's society. I had wondered how we could get veterans of the street and back into the job world. After research I found that there are programs and methods put in place specifically to help these struggling veterans.

CHAMPVA can offer coverage for the spouse or widow and children a veteran who, if It has been permanently or totally disabled due to a service-connected disability as determined by the regional office of the Veterans

Soldiers had fought hard for America in WWII, had seen things that could not be unseen and now they were finally coming home with a victory. When they came back, the men that went to war needed jobs, housing, and some even still needed education. Being a soldier was their job full-time prior to the victory and now it was time to come back to work, however, many of the jobs were created from the war to help the war effort. This left some unemployed and the GI Bill supplied the veterans of the second World War with unemployment insurance. Although, researchers Larsen, McCarthy, Moulton, Page, and Patel (2015) describe one of the main purposes of the GI Bill as to provide the returning veterans with a paid education including books, supplies, and counseling that the veterans needed to complete and education.

Secondly, some veterans will come back from war and if they were shot or experienced heavy damage to the head, they can have severe brain injuries and when they’re homeless and they don’t have much help, that can be horrible for the homeless veterans. The US has grappled with many questions about society’s obligations as to whether or not to offer services and benefits to the men and women in the armed forces. Supporters argue that helping veterans will help the society as whole and opponents argue that we shouldn’t be increasing our federal government spending in repaying veterans. Although I do see where people can argue that we are spending too much money on helping veterans after war, I believe that the government owes them for what they have done for the country, despite the cost. The government owes certain benefits to veterans because the men and women in the armed forces deserve to be welcomed home with a generous system of services for what they have done for the country. Helping veterans goes way back all the way to the 1600s.
