This week’s video was pretty amazing watching how the Kalashnikov was made and the testing it goes through. Furthermore, I would like to think that I know quite a bit about guns and the difference between them. I had to humble myself and came to the realization that I don’t know everything there is about guns. The video about the Kalashnikov was captivating learning how Mikhail Kalashnikov was wounded in battle. The way he saw fit to still help his fellow brother in arms was to make a more effective weapon that would work in all conditions. Along with the testing the Kalashnikov went through before it would get sent to troops. One thing that really caught my attention was he really did not get recognized for his efforts until much later, while the maker of the M16 was recognized almost immediately with little testing done on performance. Really makes you see the difference in culture. …show more content…
The reading was a bit hard to follow so I had to read it twice due to the fact that there was little differences between some of the guns. Going over the reasons why people buy guns, I fall into three of the categories I shoot for fun, hunting and the main one for me which is personal defense. I love going to the range and shoot some rounds down range along with just staying proficient. Identically, going over personal defense should be something that everyone thinks about. I have little girls that are my world and I will do anything to protect them. Also, I want my children to know that weapons are not a toy along with safety. I feel I have learned a lot about the difference types of guns along with why there is so many types. It would be enlightening for all gun owners to read “Guns 101”. If everyone open of concealed carried I feel there would be less gun violence. Guns can be a good deterrent for people that like just harass
Concealed guns are allowing the public to overcome the dangers in the world, but they are also a danger in many ways. These dangers have lead to many horrific accidents in our present time. These incidents are also causing more people around the world to join in on these events. Concealed guns should be banned because by permitting handguns, it can end up causing more crimes, dangerous people are more likely to carry a gun and endanger the public, and guns can make the public paranoid.
He adds to this development by stating three intriguing and interesting facts that show that gun violence is clearly an issue in the United States in this day and age. Something that is only applicable to the website version of the article is that he even further establishes his credibility with these facts with clickable links that will bring one to the source of the fact or statistic that he used. At this point, he states the purpose of his article which is to essentially throw in his view on what should be done about gun violence in the United States. He uses a general gun proponent quote to show the opposing side of the argument, and uses it to strengthen his own argument. At this point he begins to state how gun safety should replicate toy, car, or swimming pool type safety.
Right now I am sitting on the mattress in the donner basement locker room. I am crying. They are cutting my dog's eyes out and sewing them up. My mom just told me. I see Marx’s name at the top and am reminded of the discussion that I am going to have tomorrow where my author talks about Marx.
Should America Have Better Gun Control? Why do we keep waiting? It seems that our lives revolves around guns. Should we keep allowing this to continue? Over the course of history most deaths are caused by guns.
In this short paper I will go over my thoughts on this week’s required reading. This week we read Chapter One of the FTA 215 text. In the beginning of chapter one we were introduced the AR-15 platform. The author stated that “A great deal of confusion and misunderstanding surround this firearm. Demonized as an assault rifle, many people incorrectly believe that the “AR” in AR-15 stands for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifle,” when actually, it stands for “ArmaLite," the name of the company that initially developed the rifle.
A great way of telling if a movie is any good, is by evaluating the acting. Sometimes, even if the plot is terrible, the type of acting can make the film worthwhile. However, that was not the case in this film adaptation of Fahrenheit 451. The plot and message of the film were lost to me because of the attention I had to pay to the mediocre acting. At one point in the film- the scene where Montag was imagining Clarisse burning in fire rather than the old lady- I couldn’t believe that Clarisse seemed to be smiling while burning.
so people can feel more protected. As Well as giving people the protection that need if other resources are not available to them at that time that they need it. Next, concealed weapons give people a sense of awareness after taking a class on how to use their weapon. Finally, carrying a concealed weapon can decrease many risks that we have in day to day life. The “concealed carry lifestyle” should not be just pushed by gun manufacturers, but instead should be pushed by some organizations that support it.
On the issue of gun control, I had always thought along the lines of opposing or supporting the issue but had never thought that there could be another argument different from these two main ones that could be discussed. It was therefore quite refreshing to look at the issue from Novak’s point of view. The fact that he provided evidence to support his claim that law enforcement has worked before in reducing gun violence cases made his article all the more interesting and believable. He shows that the debate on gun control may just have been pointless all this time as the issue that should be discussed is really not whether people should have guns or not but rather how to enforce the law to ensure that perpetrators of gun violence are
A weapon in the wrongs hands is the maximum danger humanity can face. Nowadays, violence and delinquency in society are viewed as the maximum problem solver. Humanity is full of chaos; hate and envy seize our souls. Guns are the ultimate security for some citizens but for others, these add to a feeling of defenselessness. Throughout history, any topic related to guns means a plethora of problems.
The use of and the owning of guns is a very hot and debated topic in society today. For many, this is a life and death debate due to the recent and numerous school shootings. These school shootings have caused an outcry for more gun control, specifically in relation to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Despite these calls, increased gun control is not the answer. Most gun owners’ use their guns responsibly and for good purposes.
Thus, I recognized that gun ownership is a serious social problem. This problem surely threatens ordinary people’s lives in the United States. To handle this problem, I did some research about the
Gun Control Lately people have been using guns in a negative way and causing a bad effect on the world. People have been using guns inapropriatly and have been performing mass killings. If guns are being used by people then the people using them should know how to use them correctly, or not being a crazy lunatic. When I was 12 I was playing with a pistol and accidentally shot it, I wasn’t hurt and no one else was hurt but somebody could have been injured badly. Gun laws are the cause to a lot of the violent crimes in the united states and laws need to be changed so people can’t purchase guns as easily that way we aren’t in as much trouble.
In order to protect children and their family members, they should be taught the proper way on how to shoot guns. Gun safety needs to be taught to children to promote more respect for firearms while improving education and decreasing gun violence (Foley). Many accidental shootings happened in America in the past two or three years. One example is, a three year old accidentally reach into his pregnant mother’s purse and took out her pistol and shot his mom and dad. Now the child has to live with all that for the rest of his life knowing he shot his mom and dad, in 2015 toddlers in the United State accidently shot one person per week.
In this weeks readings the author discusses the 5 guns that changed history. I agree with some of the weapons he has chosen but I believe there are a few others that should have made the list. I will start with the ones I agreed with. The Philadelphia Derringer defiantly changed history with the assassination of President Lincoln. The Philadelphia Derringer only held one shot and John Wilkes Booth effectively used the one shot.
Everyone should know about gun safety, from authorized handlers to children and the
