Violence is one of the many issues of how place influences self. The cause of violence in Chicago is mainly because of gun control. If we implement stricter gun control laws, there will be less citizens being murdered and stricter punishments will affect those that do abide by the law. Violence has become so normalized nowadays that even when we try to make a change it is still recurring. People are dying, many are going to jail, risking their life for a little fun moment. Many are attempting to get revenge on people for the hurt they have caused upon themselves. When will the hate crimes stop.? Once they are put behind bars is when they turn to reality, but sometimes it is too late to turn back once you've done so much damage.

Violence affects the people it touches by either putting them into a hospital because they hurt them physically which would be gun violence, or mentality destroying them by forcing them to do or sell drugs. A quote that goes along with this would be ¨violence has a way of making you feel sullied.¨ The reason violence has a way of making people sullied is because when you are sullied you are basically not pure anymore, you are destroyed and damaged. Once someone picks up a gun or decides they want to become a part of a gang they are sullied, they have no value anymore because of the scandals they are doing. The police and the people around are not doing anything about these murderers but just putting people behind bars. In chapter 9 on page 123 it states that ¨If it happenes again, I don't think I could stop it, If it happenes again nobodyś gonna be able to stop me. I know I could hurt a lot of people¨. Many people have normalized carrying guns that when something were to go wrong they pull the trigger. ¨I loved carrying your guns. I loved the power. I couldn't get anywhere else without it¨. The fear of crime or of being a victim of violence can motivate some people into carrying guns. People believe that carrying a gun can help them protect themselves and their loved ones when they are in a serious life or death situation. In other cases people carry guns for enjoyment, the look of being fearless or ¨trying to act cool¨. Many who have guns aren't using them for the correct reasons. Many don't understand the true value of life until they are put behind bars for committing murder or those who participate in gangs. Another quote that stood out to me was when Eddie stated ¨He worried constantly about what lay ahead once he got out. No one's going to hire me, he thought. Eddie's point is that once you make a choice such as killing someone, and after you do your time. No one will want to hire you, people will judge you
A possible concern is threatening weapons that are used too often when a person is causing a crime. For example, crimes all over the world have steered to atrocious incidents caused by concealed guns. This implies that the use of guns is taken for granted all over the world. This means that concealed guns have been the cause of a numerous amount dangers popping up around the world. However, “Carrying a concealed handgun could help stop a public shooting spree.”
All of the items addressed in this essay come to show that not very many people use guns for self defense, and that the gun purchasing process needs to be harder for customers to acquire. There are multiple ways that the world can be a better place, and the first is to create a sense of safety, by making guns harder to get. If this essay still can’t get you on its side, keep in mind that a single bullet can end a close family member’s
Violence is unacceptable We are living in a turbulent world. On average, there are about 150,000 deaths every day because of diseases, old age, traffic accidents, and especially violence. The data from FBI indicates that in 2013, an estimated 1,163,146 violent crimes occurred in America, and somebody commits a hate crime every hour ("Violent Crime”). The fact that more and more gruesome murders happen shows that we are living in fear of violence, and this violence is unacceptable. FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program states that, “violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault,” ("Violent Crime”).
Violence promotes more violence. From violence comes a lot of rage and madness knowing people's personal rights are being abused. “Infants were tossed into the air and used as targets for machine guns,” (Wiesel 6). When the Germans would kill them brutally the Jews would get so angered. Michael brown was unarmed when he was shot by a police officer, when it was said he was innocence, it
Too many people are finding violence as a solution to many problems that they are coming across, which results in even more
Where I live at now it is not much going on in Iowa. But where I came from which is Chicago so much has been going on. The gun violence in Chicago has increase over the years. Gun violence has increase stress on children and family because they are afraid. People are afraid to go outside, work, or to take their children somewhere.
However, the parts of the Windy City that people that don’t want you to see, is what makes Chicago one of the most dangerous cities to live in. Gangs, homicides, and abandonment is what is breaking down Chicago's most violent neighborhoods. The issue with some of the areas is the amount of gang violence that has risen in the past century. Most originating from European immigrants that formed early 20th century gangs that then
Gun Violence in Kansas City A longing problem in the Kansas City area, as well as around the country, is gun violence. Over the last few years, gun violence has been rapidly increasing around Kansas City and has shown no signs of slowing down. Even though it is likely impossible to stop this problem, the rate needs to be slowed in Kansas City. Gun violence is a problem that has been around for decades and has continued to increase. The United States is one of the few countries that has a problem with school shootings and has one of the highest gun fatality ratings in the world.
For others, a view that has arose later, guns are the “perpetuation of illicit social hierarchies, the elevation of force over reason,” and a promoter of collectivity and remover of individuality. This latter view of guns is a direct application of the conflict theory. For those who hold this view, and likely support the passage of gun control laws, guns are representative of social inequality that is abundant in modern society, that the usage of guns is a means of violently coercing those of lower classes to remain in their class. The view of guns as a symbol of protection is also an application of the conflict theory.
A gun is made to be used at its full capability. Weapons are used also for protection over your family,(“A ban on assault weapons would not reduce crime”) also said, “ California 's murder rate increased every year for five years, twenty-six percent total. That is a perfect example of why some people feel the need to keep a gun or firearm in their homes, they are aware of the murder rate due to the media. People do not want to take a chance on someone hurting them so they feel the need to have one, witch is understandable because the murder rate has raised in the last 5 years there. You don’t want your firearm to not be able to be used to its maximum strength at a time if someone was to try to harm you, you would want it to be able to be used at its maximum strength to be able to protect you from harm.
Furthermore, most of this increase is the result of Chicago 's murder rate increasing so significantly. We are thrilled that crime rates are decreasing, but wish to know what is driving up the murder rates in certain cities. Some experts believe it is due to fewer police officers and/or fewer programs designed to prevent violence. Poverty does appear to play a role in this problem, and the same is true of a rise in gang violence in these cities. With the current administration looking at gun control laws, this may be changing, but no one can say what impact this will truly have.
A weapon in the wrongs hands is the maximum danger humanity can face. Nowadays, violence and delinquency in society are viewed as the maximum problem solver. Humanity is full of chaos; hate and envy seize our souls. Guns are the ultimate security for some citizens but for others, these add to a feeling of defenselessness. Throughout history, any topic related to guns means a plethora of problems.
Guns are just a tool, like knives and hammers and it completely depends on the people on how they use it. People who support guns and arms say that the Second Amendment secures individual’s right to carry guns with them and that gun rights is needed for self-protection, and was intended for military to have peace and defend the country if needed (Spitzer, 70). Most of the Americans use guns as a source to protect themselves and they believe that gun ownership prevents crime. A study conducted on November 26, 2013 showed that bans on weapons did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level (Lane, 5). Moreover, even if the rules and regulations are executed on gun control, not all criminals obey the law.
The 20th century labelled, “the most violent century in human history” (golding). To explain the violence of the 20th century if one must look at all events of the intentionally harm done to others. This includes the violence caused by the two hundred and fifty-six wars inluding World War One and two, The Vietnam War, The Cold War which where almost 108 milion human lives have persihed and others haunted by the gruesome details that occurred during these events. One must also look at the the violence caused by seven genocides including the Holocaust, Armenian Genocide and Rwandan Genocide which killed eighteen million people.
Throughout the 17th-century gangs have been causing havoc in people's life and destroying the society. The National Institute of Justice (2011) has defined a gang as "A group of collective members which create an atmosphere of intimidation among citizens. " Many of these gangs are well organized, using different forms of violence to control neighbourhoods and to conduct their illegal activities. The National Gang Threat Assessment (2011) reports that “Gangs are responsible for an average of 48 percent of violent crime in most jurisdictions.” Street Gangs have caused incidences of violence that is confined in the inner city of many countries.
