The Holocaust is a genocide that killed about six million Jews that started in January 1933 and lasted until May 1945. Many families were taken from their homes and put on cattle wagons, they were brought to various concentration camps like Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Buna. In the memoir, Night Elie Wiesel’s family is taken out of Sighet for a year and a half, with the struggle of living each day but luckily he survived. All were put through harsh conditions like being starved for days by not receiving all rations of the meals and only given a small portion of bread and soup. At these camps everyone was forced to march, if you fell behind or got weak you would be beaten or killed.

Most jews though were killed. If you were a jew you would go to a concentration camp to be killed. This was a very sad time in the people's lives and they could not do anything about it. The holocaust impacts our lives today for many reasons.

During the Holocaust, six million Jews were sent to their deaths. Nevertheless, in the Holocaust literature, one can find the glimpse of joy. In 1933, in Germany, Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party created a German Empire & Jews were no place in Hitler’s vision. Love & Laughter were two of the main things that made Jews and other people forget the time happening in the Holocaust, including nature. Almost 2,700,000 Jews were sent to extermination camps such as, Treblinka and Chelmno, where they were lately killed.

But this was only a small fraction of their troubles. Soon walls were built around the area, and the true horrors began. During their days in the ghetto the jews had to deal with finding food to eat, finding a way to be useful and help their families, and if they were taking classes, which were done in secret, to be careful and hide their books from the germans. The jews were also sent to camps, where they were worked to death, shot to death, and starved to death. Their items were stolen, and they couldn 't do anything about it.

The life for Jews was harshly changed due to the Holocaust, but exactly made it so bad? The first and most important thing in life is food and water. The Nazis gave out ration cards which restricted the food that the Jewish families were allowed per day. According to document number four,

Additionally, the Jews had their property confiscated and their lives restricted by more than four hundred decrees and regulations. With this, the Jews had lost their civil rights while being simultaneously dehumanized. The Holocaust and the Nigerian genocide both involved a lot of hatred, but how the victims were treated, the areas of the world that were impacted, and the goals of the perpetrators were different. The holocaust was a very bad time for jewish people. Jewish people during the holocaust were treated badly and they were relocated and starved and even killed just for fun.

During this time 6,000,000 Jews were killed, not by war, but rather at the hands of Germany. Hitler believed that Jews were an inferior race and was a threat to German purity. After years of being mistreated Hitler had a plan called the Final Solution, which was the attempt to extinct the entire Jewish Population. Germany would accomplish this by concentration camps that were set up in Poland.

There are many events in history but Holocaust left a permanent scar on the face of history. The event soaked in blood and tears of innocent would be unforgettable. Holocaust also known as Shoah (in Hebrew) was a genocide that took lives of millions of people from different backgrounds.
