The lead up to the Revolutionary War was inevitable. With heavy militarization in the Colonies, heavy economic strains placed on the colonists and Britain denying their right for representation, these factors are what lead the Americans to risk their lives and fortunes for their freedom. In my opinion the heavy economic strains played the most significant role in the American’s decision to declare their independence. A rebellion was stirring in the American colonies. King George III was aware of the state of his territories and the actions of his colonists, making him extremely nervous. The Americans had been taking bribes from the French in the Seven Years’ War. This infuriated King George and left him feeling betrayed, resulting in him passing the Proclamation of 1763. The Proclamation stated that no colonist was permitted to settle land west of the Appellation Mountains, to the dismay of the colonist. To make sure that the Proclamation was being …show more content…
They collectively boycotted British made goods and protested the Kings’ Acts. King George had been monitoring the rising rebellion over the years. Trying to avoid setting off a full blown rebellion he lowered the taxes, but still refused to completely eradicate them. He refused to give the colonists representation in the Parliament as well, taking away any chance they could stand up and protect themselves from the government. The colonists were enraged with the British government; “No taxation without representation!” was the new slogan and driving force for the Revolution, even further uniting the colonists together. In conclusion the Revolution was inevitable. Colonists had had years of bitter feelings towards Britain to fuel their fight for freedom. After years of being taxed so heavily, they were broke and being left with no voice for representation, they were tired. Declaring independence and fighting for their freedom was the last resort to gain their humanity
According to Benjamin Franklin, colonists were ready to do anything to protest the levying of internal taxes by Parliament. The actions that the colonists would take is boycotting. Boycotting is to withdraw from commercial or social relations as a punishment or protest. They colonists boycotted the English products that were manufactured and sent to
Taxes were a big thing that the British did but the Colonists protested to stop them.
This upset the colonists to the point of rebellion, and this rebellion started the Revolutionary War. The most important factors that influenced the colonists to wage war against Britain were their fury at the taxes placed on them without their representation in Parliament and the king’s tyranny over other aspects of their
It’s obvious that more people under the pressure of English controlling seeked for equality on both finance and politics. Regards to the unsatisfaction of British intervention, freedom is presented as one of the initial goal. Above all, the basic and core purpose of the American Revolution was the independence from British government, ability to build a self-governing nation and achieve the relative equality. The Declaration of Independence was an important step on the way of revolution which proclaimed the determination of a Self-governing
The American Revolution was one of the most important wars that was fought in the history of the United States. The Patriots and the British had two different views on how things should be run in America. Many people have different opinions on why, where and how the war was started. There were a few key battles that helped to influence the outcome of the war. The outcome of the American Revolutionary War influenced the United States way of Freedom and the way the American people live today.
They knew that you couldn’t just talk to the King about how the government isn’t fair. So, they took matters into their own hands. At first, colonists boycotted a lot of goods. They boycotted for a short time. Soon, the boycotting turned to riots.
What Caused the American Revolution The American Revolution was a battle for leadership in the American colonies. At the time, England controlled nearly all aspects, mostly the political and economic, of the colonial lives. Their purpose was to strengthen England. The colonies wanted the freedom from all of the control because they were doing fine without England.
The American Revolution or also known as The War of Independence was brought on by American colonists. The colonists felt the taxations and limitations oppressed onto the Americans by British was worth fighting for their rights. The Americans had George Washington as their general, and Washington had an itch to keep the moral of the colonists alive during the hard times. In the times of The American Revolution, the Second Continental Congress emerged and voted for freedom from Great Britain. Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin came together and formed a document stating the colonists’ intent to gain independence from Great Britain.
The Revolutionary war was not revolutionary because it did not protect some of people’s rights, made lives harder, and left Americans in despair. The Declaration of Independence clearly stated that all men are created equal and unalienable rights (Document 2). This, however, is not shown through the social classes. The Revolutionary War was fought to bring freedom, but that undoubtedly does not show. First and foremost, Abigail Adams wrote “Remember the ladies, and be more generous and favourable to them than your ancestors.
Soon after the Seven Years’ War, the British and the colonists learned that victory came with a rather expensive price (Kennedy, Cohen, & Bailey, 2010). Great Britain tightened its grip on the colonies in North America, expecting colonists to pay for their financial struggles. In order to make colonists pay for the war, Great Britain reminded the North American colonies who had authority by controlling the colonists to submit to various ordinances ratified by British Parliament. This action only showed that arrogance leads to rebellion socially, economically, and politically. Socially, a lack of communication between Great Britain and the North American colonies was to blame for the Revolutionary War.
The Proclamation of 1763, was a rule that was later established by King George III in order for the colonies to stop expanding. This later affected the Americans, causing them land that could no longer be purchased from the Indians. The Americans did not favor this because this caused them to not make money from
There were many disagreements and because of those, many events were the cause of the American Revolution. These events included bloodshed by others, peoples rights weren’t enforced, individuals didn’t receive freedom, and our country was just not yet whole. Despite of the causes of why the road to Revolution took place there were effects afterwards. When American Revolution was over with the The Declaration of Independence came into place, treaties were signed, and the Bill of Rights. Now these effects/events were amazing, it helped our country tremendously.
After all the taxes and limitations were placed onto the colonists, they were angry and wanted war, this is shown from the tarring and feathering of the British and the disregard of taxes and acts placed on them by the British, many of the colonists used propaganda to support the cause such as Thomas Paine’s book “Common Sense” or Paul Revere’s paining of the Boston Massacre, these were both used as effective propaganda to anger the colonists against the British, but if these were not created, the revolution would not have had as much strength, and might have died down, which would have avoided the war or if people had listened to the colonists that did not want war or loyalists that showed that there was a way to resolve the differences without violence, as shown in James Chalmer’s Pamphlet, “Plain Truth”. Another way the war could have been avoided is if the British had signed the Olive Branch Petition, as shown in the Second Continental Congress meeting, which would give the colonies independence from Britain and there would be no need for the war. However, this did not happen, the British declined the Olive Branch Petition and went to war with the colonies. These sources show that there was many ways other than actions that the Revolutionary War could have been avoided. To sum it all up, there was many ways that the Revolutionary War could have been avoided, such as the British not being unfair to the colonists, or the colonists not rebelling against the British.
The American Revolution was inevitable for many reasons, but Colonies and English societies being different didn’t necessarily lead to a revolution. The economic tensions had a large impact on making a revolution more likely to occur. Many examples exist of the colonists feeling misunderstood by the British, which led to more conflict. The American Revolution was inevitable because there isn’t a single instance or event that directly caused the Revolution, there was a collection of issues that contributed to the greater conflict between the colonies and the British that eventually blew up.
Political, economic, military, and social factors were taken into account during the revolution. These aspects of the war all played a significant role in the outcome of the American Revolution. Since Great Britain was in a tremendous amount of debt, it started social and economic issues with the colonies. The French and Indian War (Seven Years War), fought between the British and the French over the Ohio River Valley was a huge contributing factor to said debt.
