Marijuana also referred to, as MaryJane, ganja, and cannabis, are dried leaves and flowers of a hemp plant. There have been many debates in the recent years on the whether or not marijuana should be legalized or not. Society has once developed a negative outlook regarding marijuana, but recently this negative outlook has slowly been changing. So far 28 states in the United States have legalized the use of marijuana for medical usage, and out of the 28 according to the CQ researcher only “four of those states allow for the usage of both medical and recreational use (CQ Researcher, pg.1)”. I believe that use of marijuana regardless if it is for recreational usage or for medical purposes, should be legalized across the nation and not solely in particular states. …show more content…

Some of the pros are the following; the legalization of marijuana can increase the economy. It has been stated the CQ Research that “ sale of medical and recreational marijuana totaled nearly three billion and the marijuana industry is becoming the nation’s fastest growing industries, and it has been predicted to bring in even more revenue and the years progress (CQ Researcher, pg.1)”. Another advantage of legalizing marijuana is that it creates jobs; since this is a newly rapid growing industry there will be a high demand for employees. This can then reduce the rate of unemployment nation wide. It has been proven that marijuana usage helps alleviate pain in those who have medical issues. According to a CNN article which states, marijuana can help with asthma, cancer, epilepsy, migraines, AIDS (HIV), Arthritis, pain, Psychological conditions, eating disorders, glaucoma, crohn’s disease i.e. This will be able to impact society in a major way, by reducing human suffrages due to medical
