Ronald Regan was born on February 6, 1911 to a poor family in Illinois. Regan went graduated from Eureka College in 1932, and worked as a radio sports announcer. After moving to Hollywood in 1937, Regan began working as an actor in multiple major films. He was elected president of the Screen Actors Guild, which paved the way for his future political career. Regan a liberal Democrat became a conservative in 1962 soon switched to the Republican Party in 1964. The election year of 1964 was led by Democratic Presidential candidate Lyndon B. Johnson with slow support for the Republican Nominee Barry Goldwater. Regan now a republican was called on to support his presidential candidate and boost the Republican campaign with the use of his celebrity
