Who Is To Blame For The Boston Massacre

One thing lead to another and in 1770 the troops fired on the crowd as they feared for their lives, 5 colonists were killed and this tragic occurrence became marked down in history as the Boston Massacre. (doc 2) although this occurrence outraged the colonists they still weren’t looking to break away from the crown. However once the tea act was passed colonists were infuriated. A large group of colonists banded together, dressed up as native americans and went on to British ships containing tea and they threw the tea into the Boston harbor.

John Adams defended most of the accused British soldiers because they were charged with murder. But to years later the United states Founding father Samuel Adams named the event the Boston Massacre to help assure it would not be forgotten. John Copley created an image of event. But

The conflict quickly becoming known as “The Bloody Massacre” or “The Boston Massacre”; it fanned the flames of anger to the British, and was one of the main reasons the Revolution started. The eight British soldiers, and their captain, Thomas Preston, were all given trials, their lawyer being John Adams, future president. Adams claimed that the colonists were an angry, unorganized mob, that forced his clients to open fire on them. According to Adams, Attucks was leading the fight, though constant debate raged about how he was involved in it. Samuel Adams said that Attucks was simply “leaning on a stick” when the firing started.

Resulting in a significant increase in the daily expenses of the colonists and eliciting strong discontent among them. Angry people marched in the streets, but on March 5, 1770, British soldiers opened fire on a crowd of protesters and killed five civilians. The incident is one of the important events in the American Independence movement, which is called the Boston Massacre. Someone in the regiment got panicked and started to fire back at the colonists. John Adams has described that the mob of Boston men were a bunch of angry and insolent men toward the troops.. Furthermore, the colonists was yelling, threatening and throwing everything they could find at the British soldiers

Although there are many reasons why the American Revolution started, a few of them had a larger consequence. First, the Boston Massacre had a major impact on the American Revolution. To continue, another instigator to the colonists seeking their independence was the Boston Tea Party. Lastly, The Battles of Lexington and Concord really pushed towards the American Revolution. Let us begin with how the Boston Massacre had a significant impact on the American Revolution.

The British fought to defend themselves. They had no intentions of getting back at the colonists for their misdeeds. The colonists should also be held accountable for the first shot, because the British didn 't plan ahead to specifically target the colonists. Though, the Colonists purposely targeted the British. I believe

I think that the British soldiers acted in self defense during the Boston Massacre. The colonists were threatening and provoking the soldiers by shouting vulgarly, beating people with clubs, and throwing rocks covered in snow, so I believe that the soldiers had a right to fight for their lives. Just take a moment to imagine the Boston massacre, it’s late at night and people are tired and confused. The colonists are shouting “Fire and be damned, who cares! Damn you, you dare not fire,” (Exhibit B) and the British soldiers are ready to defend but don’t know what’s going on.

The British soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre are not guilty in the deaths of five colonists because they acted out of self-defense. According to Newton Prince, “Some of the [colonists] said let’s attack the Main Guard, or the Centinel…” (Newton Prince). If the colonists attacked the soldiers

The American Revolution occurred between 1765 and 1783. Colonists in the thirteen american colonies had disagreements with the british monarchy and aristocracy. The American Revolution War was also known as the U.S. War of Independence. During these years Americans went through a series of battles and new laws and rules were set. During the American Revolution there were a lot of long term and short term causes, including economic factors, english political legacy, and foreign policy.

There were many disagreements and because of those, many events were the cause of the American Revolution. These events included bloodshed by others, peoples rights weren’t enforced, individuals didn’t receive freedom, and our country was just not yet whole. Despite of the causes of why the road to Revolution took place there were effects afterwards. When American Revolution was over with the The Declaration of Independence came into place, treaties were signed, and the Bill of Rights. Now these effects/events were amazing, it helped our country tremendously.

The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770, between a “patriot”. They were throwing sticks, snowballs, and trash at a group of British troops. The loyalists got very annoyed with the patriots so they shot into the mob killing five. The riot began when around 50 colonists attacked a British sentinel. The events of the Boston Massacre are recorded as a group of British soldiers firing upon a large group of colonists, killing three people on sight, one expired after the event, three were badly wounded, and four were slightly wounded totaling 11 civilians being shot. With multiple individuals such as Captain Thomas Preston, and Theodore Bliss claiming there were at least 100 people, as well as Peter Cunningham accounting 30-40 citizens gathered at the customs house. All three of these individuals were reliable in their depositions. Bliss and Cunningham were uninvolved in the act, both were bystanders to the situation.
