Chasing LIncoln's killer is about a man named John Wilkes Booth who killed the president of the United States of America. He killed him because he held that belief, and it was the motive behind his plot to murder Abraham LIncoln.

On April 14, 1865, famous actor, John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. The only question is, why, what made Booth kill Lincoln? John Wilkes Booth was mainly politically motivated, he was angry that the Confederacy lost the Civil War. I know this because, in chapter 1 of the book “Chasing Lincoln’s Killer” by, James Swanson it says the only reason Booth didn’t fight for the Confederacy was because his mother convinced him not to. He then felt like he was a coward and owed the Confederacy.

On April 15, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed in Ford’s Theater by John Wilkes Booth. On July 7, 1865, Mary Elizabeth Surratt was hanged with charges of aiding the assassins. Owner of a boarding house in Washington D.C. during the Civil War, she was thought to have previously owned a safe house for the Confederates underground. Though she had a quiet childhood and normal marriage, her life took an unexpected turn for the worse by the year of 1861. Surratt was a Confederate sympathizer and often housed rebel spies, which did not help her in the trial.

Johnson, the Vice President to JFK, was behind the assassination. Now some may find this ludicrous but others find it plausible. Many believe Johnson had Kennedy killed because he felt threatened by the thought that Kennedy was going to remove Johnson from his 1964 election ticket. In order to retain his power he orchestrated the assassination in order to become president and hold his spot in office. Evidence shows that Johnson had close ties with big name American oil businessman, such as H. L. Hunt, and that these businessman paid for the assassination which would ultimately save them one-hundred million dollars in the American Oil Industry.

Lincoln had many people that tried to assassinate him. There was only one that succeeded in killing Lincoln. He was careful with his methods and process. John Wilkes Booth was the man that killed Abraham Lincoln at Ford 's Theater. Nine months before Lincoln was assassinated someone else tried to kill Lincoln in August of 1864.

It’s important to note that the United State’s first and only civil war was fought during Lincoln’s presidency and that he held a controversial stance at the time on the subject of slavery. When Lincoln died, on one hand many people mourned him, but on the other people rejoiced Lincolns assassination at the same time. It’s strange for someone that lives in the year 2017 that someone would be happy that President Lincoln was assassinated. He stood up for so many right and just standpoints. Wasn’t it a tragedy that Lincoln was murdered in cold blood?

O’Reilly introduces John Wilkes Booth as the mastermind behind the President Lincoln assassination. John Wilkes Booth was a well-known popular stage actor from Maryland. He starred in many different shows that people, such as the president, would attend. After the Civil War the Union supporters from the North celebrated day and night. The people were excited that they had won the war, except John Wilkes Booth.

As the president's limousine passes the Texas School Book Depository, shots are fired from a sixth floor window. The wire services at the time reported that three shots were fired hitting the president and one striking the governor, this subject seems so incredibly documented that much of the conspiracy theories seem like happenstance or the normal reactionary panic that seems to be common in very media oriented societies; and the fact that all of the footage and personally owned cameras were confiscated right after the assassination does lead to the ensuing hysteria over the decades over this assassination, when the simple fact is that the government needed all of the evidence possible to find out and document what had actually occurred. And

Although John Wilkes Booth committed an awful crime, he took a huge stand by assassinating President Abraham Lincoln and changed the course of U.S. history forever. This tragic event happened at a very important point in history. The Civil War had been raging since 1861, resulting in the loss of thousands of Americans and further splitting the country in half. On April 9, 1865, Robert E. Lee surrendered the last of the Confederate army to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse, ending the Civil War. The union was thrilled.

Abraham Lincoln caused the civil war. Abraham Lincoln was elected the 16th president on November 16, 1860. Abraham was the first republican president ever. He was born near Hodgenville, Kentucky on February 12, 1809. His family moved to Indiana when he was seven and he grew up on the frontier.

There have been a total of ten assassinations against presidents in The United States alone, and with only four of the ten being successful. While in some cases the motives of assassination are widely unknown, a majority of the cases are due to ill, contempt and hostile feelings toward the public figure. Regarded as one of the most significant leaders in the history of the United States, Abraham Lincoln greatly influenced our nation with his uncommon ethics and beliefs. Lincoln favorably opposed slavery and thought our founders believed that all men had certain inalienable rights.

Five days after the Confederacy’s surrender, John Wilkes Booth had successfully killed one of the most influential presidents in American history to do what he believed would redeem power to the southern states. Booth’s main goal was to tear down the Union’s government by taking down their leader and his successors, but the original plan did not involve the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Historian Christopher Hammer explained in his article "Booth's Reason for Assassination", the former actor had created a group of co conspirators and designed "a ploy on March 17 to capture Lincoln as he traveled in his carriage [and had] collapsed when the president changed his itinerary—and several of Booth’s conspirators ultimately left the group.” (Teaching History). Since the failed capture of the president, Booth hatred towards Lincoln grew after hearing the president’s goal to officially abolish slavery in his Second Presidential

Booth himself wrote about Lincoln in a negative manner. “Our country owed all her troubles to him, and God simply made me the instrument of his punishment” (Booth, April 13-14, 1865). This quote proves that Booth saw the assassination of Lincoln as both patriotic and
