Imagine that we had the answers to how one murder, could change the outcome for our nation. World War I was a war where several millions of people died. This war, also known as the Great War, was a global war that originated in Europe. These people were fighting for many reasons. Many people do not realize what kind of sacrifice these people truly gave and what that sacrifice did not only for our country, but for the world. There were a lot of average humans that died during the war and a lot of families were hurt. The most important reasons why the war started was because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, secret treaties were signed, and countries were invaded. Hours later, France makes its own declaration of war against Germany readying its troops to move into the provinces of Alsace and Lorraine (Truman 1). There was some confrontation between the different countries so they began getting their forces ready. Also, on August 3rd, the first wave of German troops assembled on the frontier of neutral Belgium, which in accordance with the Schlieffen plan would be crossed by German armies on their way to invade France. (History 1). The German invasion of Belgium was a military campaign that began on August 4, 1914. On this day, the German government sent an ultimatum to Belgium, demanding passage through the country and German forces then invaded Luxembourg due to them declining their offer. Two days later, the Belgian Government refused the demands and the British Government guaranteed military support to Belgium. Troops then crossed the border and attacked the Belgian City (Truman 1).
