The USS Indianapolis was a heavy cruiser of the US Navy, named for the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. The sinking of this ship in 1945 led to the greatest single loss of life at sea. The ship was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and sinks within minutes in shark-infested waters. The sinking of the USS Indianapolis shows the greatest loss of life at sea, what the survivors had to endure before saving and the prosecution of the captain of the USS. The ship was done with its first mission, delivering the world's first operational atomic bomb to the island of Tinian.

Throughout the nineteenth century, most white settlers viewed Native Americans as lesser people and who were no better than animals. Many commentators believed that American Indians were unable to evolve to sustain their prehistoric lifestyle and would soon die off. Others thought American Indians were instead able to endure the rapid change and would survive. The two twins argue in the womb and the evil twin decides to be birth through the mother’s side and the good twin had a natural birth. Because the evil twin was birth through her side, it caused the woman to die immediately.

There were many instances where Jake was conflicted with himself on whether he should follow through with his mission or to protect the Na'vi. Internal noise is an aspect of communication that acts as a barrier; it can be physiological, psychological, or semantic. Internal noises act as a distraction, usually thoughts, that interrupt the communication process.
