The American Civil War began in 1861 and it came to an end on 13th May 1865, with a victory for the North. However, in the past the South had won earlier battles of the war, at first they appeared to have strong military leadership. There were many reasons why the South did not win the war, other than their poor strategy within the military generals. Economic, social, political and military were one of the major factors. The North was better economically than the South, and this enabled the North to buy more guns, supplies, and equipment for the war. The South 's main trader was the North, and so they were unable to make more money through selling to the North during the Civil War. Not to mention that the North had more men than the South,
Fighting on the battlefield brings death to weeping souls. The Civil War was a battle between the North and the South. In 1861, the Confederates known as the South, bombarded Union soldiers at Fort Sumter starting the war. The Union, known as the North, defeated the South against slavery . The military strategies differences between the North and South had greater impact on the outcome of the civil war the role of african americans.
During the Civil War, there was three different subjects (economics, political and social differences) that were completely different between the Southern and Northern United States. The two sides had some advantages over the other and those things helped with the outcomes of the Civil War. The South was agricultural, a little more committed to fighting with a good defensive war, while the North was industrial, wealthy and more friendly to immigrants. When talking about military tactics, the South had a greater advantage due to the enthusiasm about war, while the North had a bigger population to select people to recruit but not a lot of people was so happy to take the job. Also, the South had the advantage of fighting a defensive war( they
The North had beaten the South in the Civil War. The North won the war for many reasons; they had some advantages over the South, a great leader, and the desire to win. The North and South fought many battles before the Civil War ended. Each battle had a different outcome and some encouraging the fight and some ended in despair.
The first main cause of the Civil War was economic differences between the Northern and Southern states. During the first few decades of the 19th century, the North had an industrial revolution that brought an economy that relied on laborers. While at the same time, the South continued to rely on slaves for their farming and the production of cotton. The Northerners did not need slaves for their economy, but the Southerners could not make any profit without cotton or slaves. In the 1860’s, the North had twice as many railroads as the South, and the South had a bigger cotton production because of their slave population (Document A).
The American Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865 due to controversy about slavery which led to deaths of over 600,00 people. Controversy in the U.S. split it in half, the North and the South. It all began when Southern Troops bombarded Fort Sumter, South Carolina. The North had far more men and war materials than the South did which may have been a factor as to why they won. The bloodiest battle happened to be in Gettysburg and there is no way you can have a war without it being bloody and gross.
Though the south still had farming, and had joined the union, the south never bounced back to its former self after being decimated in the Civil War. The entire face of the southern economic system changed and their infrastructure was left in ruins after the battles. However before the start of the Civil War, there was a rush of southern pride throughout the south. Many southern residents had a fierce loyalty to their way of life and would die defending it. Thus being one of the main factors in the Civil War.
The American Civil War was the deadliest war in the history of America. It began on April 12, 1861 at Fort Sumter, South Carolina and ended four years later in 1865. The two opposing sides who fought in the Civil War were the Union (North) and the Confederacy (South). The Confederates fought to succeed from the Union which ended in their overall defeat. The Union emerged victorious against the Confederates in American Civil War because the Union had more soldiers, resources, and far better infrastructure.
In order to change history so that the Confederacy wins the Civil War, I would kill two influential people to the Union cause: Joshua L. Chamberlain and Ulysses S. Grant. I would make sure that Chamberlain was killed during in combat on Little Round Top during Gettysburg before he called for the swinging gate maneuver. If Chamberlain was unable to initiate the swinging gate maneuver that led to a Confederate defeat on Little Round Top, then the Confederates would have eventually overtaken the outgunned Union troops. By securing Little Round Top, The Confederates would have the perfect vantage point to attack and fire on the Union army, and such casualties could have led to a Confederate victory at Gettysburg.
Both sides involved in the civil war had distinct advantages and disadvantages, which all played a part to decide the outcome of the civil war. The north for example, was an economic and industrial powerhouse. They also had excellent communication and transportation networks to efficiently organize their army. The south however, had a home advantage where they could get supplies from anywhere they pleased. Additionally, Southern generals were vastly superior to their northern counterparts.
The South was able to produce 7/8 of the worlds cotton supply. The South became more dependent on the planted field system and it’s full of force part, slavery. Notably, at that moment, the North was flourishing industrially. The North depended on factories and others
The war began when the confederates bombarded Union Soldiers at Fort Sumter, South Carolina on April 12, 1861. The war ended in Spring 1865. Robert E. Less surrendered the last major confederate army to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865. The last battle was fought at Palmito Ranch, Texas on May 13, 1865. Historians debating the origins of the America Civil War focus on the reasons why seven Southern states declared their secession from the United Sates (the union), why they united to form the Confederate State of American (the ‘‘confederacy’’), and why the North refused to let them go.
After the secession of the southern states, the Confederacy began the Civil War, a four year battle for the United States. The North thought they were easily going to win due to the high population and resources
The North had an excellent Navy that had the ability to blockade things that were headed to the Southern states. The South desperately needed food, weapons, and ammunition but weren’t able to get their supplies because the North had blockades that stopped the supplies they needed. The North also had gun factories, shipyards, and coal readily available at anytime which puts them at a huge advantage over the South. They had more money and were just more advanced in their industry, which helped them win the civil war.
One of the several factors that helped cause the Civil War was the economy at the time. While the economy wasn’t in bad shape, the North and South were different and had very different views and ideas about their futures. The Northern area couldn 't have huge farms like the South. However, they were very diverse in the items they wanted to produce.
The North had a large disadvantage, which was that they were fighting in the South’s territory. They did not know the lay of the land and were ambushed frequently during the war. There was also a large expanse of land to cover which made it hard for their soldiers during the Civil War. The South has several advantages although not as many as the North.
