Both sides showed different opinions one trying to keep slavery while the other wanted to get rid of it. The North wanted to abolish slavery because it was against the Constitution and wanted racial equality. The Confederate soldiers were fighting for their right to have slavery and own slaves. Throughout the war they realized that the war would end much faster if they fought to free slaves. The reason and start of the Civil War was because of slavery.

The American Civil War between the Union and Confederate states occurred due to their different stands on slavery. The Union stood against slavery and the Confederates for it. Each were fighting over the national government’s power whether they would prohibit it or not. Then there were border states in the middle of it all who were undecided about the fact. Those territories were Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Maryland.

The civil war broke out. The war was mainly about preserving the Union and in the process to transform it. In the third year of the bloody civil war between North and South Lincoln decided to use his presidential powers and he announced the Emancipation Proclamation by an executive order. The end of war was nowhere in sight and Lincoln knew that the 3 million slaves who resided in the south were a vital force in sustaining the Confederate war effort. Even though Lincoln have stated before the he believed that the president had no constitutional right to attack slavery, he justified his decision to issue Emancipation Proclamation stating that the war has threaten the preservation of the Union and he as the commander an chief is bind by the constitution to preserve it.

Election of 1860/Secession of the South Have you ever wondered why the United States Presidential Election of 1860 was one of the most monumental presidential elections in the history of this country? The reason why is because it caused so much conflict between in north and the south in the late 1800’s. The south wished for slavery to be legal while the north thought otherwise. In the Election of 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected president of the United States as he was a Republican candidate and as a result, the south decided to make a dramatic move to make a “step forward” as a unit. The election of Abraham Lincoln caused the north and the south to grow their conflicts and caused the Civil War, but what caused the conflicts?

The South, which was known as the Confederate States of America, seceded from the North, which was also known as the Union, for many different reasons. The reason they wanted to succeed was because there was four decades of great sectional conflict between the two. Between the North and South there were deep economic, social, and political differences. The South wanted to become an independent nation. There were many reasons why the South wanted to succeed but the main reason had to do with the North's view on slavery.

President Lincoln listed the states as in rebellion, which meaned they seceded. First, the Confederates declared their independence, with the South forming their own government. Also, it would take responsibiligy for their actions more and be more likely to unionize if the south admitted they left the union and tried to agree to terms to rejoin. At first, their would be a strong government presence in the south to enforce the laws and equality reconstruction for which reconstruction aims.

Present day originations of the Civil War horribly overestimate the reason for the war basically being the battle against subjection. While the cancelation of servitude is viewed as an honorable aim to start such a war, numerous northerners were uninterested regarding the matter and fundamentally upheld it as a discipline to their adversary, the South. The head spurring factor for the North was to keep the nation a sacred association and safeguard the flexibilities they had won in the American Revolution. Northerners saw the South as the area of well-off nobles and expected that enabling the nation to part would mean an end of the republic. They believed they needed to constrain the Confederate states to rejoin the United States.

Confederates initial plan was to have their Navy attack Union commerce at Sea. During this time, commerce raiding was centuries old, Americans had much success raiding British commerce in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. In the end, the South lost. Although the South was not entirely composed of Anti-Federalists, they still opposed the formation of a strong centralized government.

So they had boundary line for the North and South. North didn't want slaves, South wanted slaves. But Abraham Lincoln didn't want slavery, so they had Civil War. Also they had four battles.

The Civil War, beginning in April of 1861 and ending in April of 1865 was one of the most controversial and yet influential battles in American history, but what started it is even more controversial. Leading up to the beginning of the civil war, many southern states began to succeed.. This meant that a lot of them withdrew from the federal union voluntarily. On April 12, 1861, the Civil War was a war fought to determine the survival of the Union or independence for the Confederacy. Abraham Lincoln, elected as the President representing the Republicans, supported the banning of slavery in all the U.S. territories. The Southern states viewed this as a violation to the Constitution, therefore, seven slave states formed the confederacy before Lincoln’s inauguration. Efforts for compromising failed, therefore both sides were prepared for war. Although, there may have been many different discussions on the underlying causes of the start on the war, it has been proven that the causes made the war in the end inevitable.

The Confederacy seceded from the Union and formed their own country with their own system of Government. The war’s main conflict however was the idea of slavery. The Confederacy thrived on slavery due to their agricultural lifestyle while the Union wanted to due away with and wanted freedom and equality for all. This led to a major disparity amongst political parties. The president at the time, Lincoln, was a Republican who denounced slavery in many ways including both socially and politically.

Secession had been considered for years earlier but officially took place when Abraham Lincoln was elected as the President of the United States in 1860. Lincoln’s main aim was to preserve the Union but the South was upset because Lincoln was against slavery and in the end cherished abolishing slavery. South Carolina almost instantly seceded from the Union after the presidential election and built the Confederate States of America at which point other southern states soon linked. However, there were many causes leading up to South Carolina seceding from the Union. Each state was likely a set of duties they were to fulfill to continue their existence as sovereign states.

Tensions rose across the country from those in support support of slavery and those opposed. Many states wanted to outlaw slavery while others adamantly defended it because it was the main institution with a high and consistent revenue. Ultimately, the disagreements over slavery are what lead to the Civil War. The country divided into an “Us versus Them” situation which lead to both sides having growing support for their views and making the groups less susceptible to an agreement. In 1862, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which freed slaves from confederate states.
