Why Is Animal Farm Successful

They were shaken and miserable…” (Doc B). This evidence helps show how Napoleon is able to stay in charge because it shows how Napoleon uses violence to insert fear within the animals.

Squealer’s use of fear tactics throughout the story is very persuasive with the simple animals. Using the dogs as enforcers, rationing, and even public executions all help keep the animals submissive. The consequences of Squealer’s use of pathos are mainly positive for him and he easily manipulates most of the animals into keeping Napoleon in power.

In George Orwell's Animal Farm, Napoleon, a pig leader that represents Stalin from the Russian Revolution plays a big role in the book as the pig leaders are a superior group among the population of Animal Farm. In the story Napoleon is representing Stalin in Animal Farm as the main leader after Mr.Jones is ran out of the farm and Old Major died, resembling how Stalin took over rising to power in Russia. Napoleon lied to the other animals in many different ways. One way he lied was by telling the other animals that he was going to send one of the horses on the farm, Boxer, to doctor to be treated for his sick lung. Napoleon made the other animals think that he was sending Boxer off to get better, but he was actually sending Boxer to a horse slaughterer to be killed. When Boxer was being loaded into the “ doctors” van one of the animals began to read what was on the side of the van. It read “ ‘ Alfred Simmonds, Horse Slaughterer and glue boiler, Willingdon.’ ”

Furthermore, Napoleon gives the other animals the impression he was the sole leader of the rebellion on Animal farm and makes Snowball -a leader who wanted what was best for the animals- seem like an enemy who was in cahoots with Farmer Jones since long before the animals took over the farm. Napoleon and Squealer (another “fat cat” pig.) always put the blame on Snowball whenever something went wrong in the farm to avoid having the blame fall on them. The animals start recognizing Napoleon for any good achievement done that day. For example, one of the hens recognizes Napoleon for just one stroke of good fortune. “Under the leadership of our Leader Comrade Napoleon, I have laid five eggs in six days…”(78). These poor animals are tricked into thinking that everything good that happens is due to “Comrade Napoleon's Leadership”. Every quote we see is a deeper level of corruption in Napoleon, and now, his influence on the farm is tearing what the revolution was all about.

Only puppies and pigs can live in the house, sleep in the bed, eat apples and cookies and have all of the best things. As the history is developing, Napoleon is getting more and more like a dicator. He slowly begin to being superior but did not act like a dictator. Moreover, he broke some rules, he’s in contact with humans, and he had hours of works, and he killed aniamsl, and change the only commandment for “4 legs good, 2 legs better”. He also think that “Every animals are equal, but some are more equal then others.”

Animal Farm’s intentions were to be an allegory of the Russian Revolution and both were uses of propaganda in similar ways. In the Russian Revolution, the Bolsheviks used propaganda to declare their laws and rules to the Russian population and their authority of the Russian Revolution. In Animal Farm, propaganda was mostly used by the pigs. The use of propaganda allowed Napoleon to persuade the animals that Snowball was the reason their hard work of the windmill was wasted and that he was the reason of all the negative aspects of their lives. Also, the use of propaganda also benefited the pigs into having to do less work at times or them gaining the most apples or milk.

Thesis Statement: Dictators Create decisions for what can be said and done. The animals in the novel Animal Farm had created a set of commandments that all the animals had to follow, then one day the group Napoleon and the other pigs broke the fourth commandment by sleeping in beds, the Animals on the farm read the commandment and it decreed “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets” (Orwell 67). The quote supports the thesis for the reason that Napoleon has changed the rules so that he is not breaking them, so that the other animals will not be tempted to confiscate Napoleon's power. Napoleon changes the fourth commandment without the vote of the other animals which leaves the animals no choice but to go along with the change for the reason that the animals have been brain washed.

Creating a utopian is the hardest thing ever in the novel animal farm, Power, losses and lies and deception is one of the largest reasons why they cannot create one. In the factor of losses animal farm was hit pretty hard they lost a few comrades, lost friends and the way they were treated. In the attempt of creating a utopian society several characters gave up, died or were kicked out. Snowball was kicked out of the farm because of Napoleon, Snowball had given an idea to create a windmill which was astonishing idea however Napoleon began to think Snowball might be smarter than him and can therefore takeover the farm.
