The National government initiated in 1789 by the United States Constitution in it early stages faced a numerous amount of threats for a multifarious reasons. The Hartford Convention in 1814-1815 and the Whiskey Rebellion in 1794 show the variety of obstacles the government was forced to conquer. The motives differ from fear for trade,high taxes,the actions from armed rebellion to review of the constitution. A multitude of people would have liked the government to have faltered. The Constitution of the United States led to an increase in power.

The year 1776 was one of the most life changing years in American history. The colonists were separated into three types of people, the loyalists who remained faithful to the king, the moderates who could have swayed in either direction, and the radicals who wanted to take immediate measures to declare independence from England. A man from Virginia named George Washington was named general of the continental army by the Second Continental Congress. Having prior military experience in the French and Indian war he was the prime candidate. He had to train all the men in the army and the people who held higher ranking positions because many had no military training at all.

George Washington plays a very important part in the American Revolution. Throughout the Revolutionary war, he was ordered by Congress to be the commander in chief of the Continental Army. Washington had little experience in leading such a big army. Although he actually showed that he was actually able to control and lead the Continental Army. George Washington and his army won battles like the Battle of Yorktown in 1781 and the Battle of Trenton in 1776.

The American Revolution changed George Washington forever, both for what he stood for and the respect that he gained from the whole world. Washington led many battles throughout the American Revolution whether he won or not he was still known and feared for his perseverance. Once he set out to accomplish a task he would do it to the best of his abilities. Joseph Ellis summarizes the contributions made by Washington in the American Revolution in his first paragraph of chapter three with this thorough introduction "He was forty-three years old when he rode out of Mount Vernon toward Philadelphia. He was fifty-one when he arrived back at Mount Vernon on Christmas Eve, 1783 the most famous man in the world the cause he headed had not only smashed two British armies and destroyed the first British Empire, it had also set in motion a political movement committed to principles that were destined to topple the monarchical and aristocratic dynasties of the Old World."

The most significant person in the American Revolution was George Washington. In the war George Washington led American and his men to victory. He was a one of the best generals they could have got. George Washington had a good fighting style, he was fit for a general for the Americans, and he trained his whole life to be a general. George Washington led most of the battles for America.

As tensions in Great Britain grew economically and politically, the American colony declared themselves an independent nation. Gaining their independence was significant, however, keeping it would be the challenge. The Americans knew a stable federal republic was essential to remaining independent, thus they created the Constitution. Although, the creation of the Constitution and the equality it ensues a controversial issue, the Constitution did not fulfil the job it was designed to do. The document did not establish a fair government.

Washington was a genius on the battlefield and came up with helpful tactics. He also obtained the ability to keep his struggling army together. Washington not only lead his army, but guided, directed and motivated them to persevere and keep going.

Why George Washington is the Best American influential figure Though there are many people who could be considered America’s most influential figure, George Washington is the best American figure because of how he influenced America socially, economically, and politically. One of the biggest ways he socially influenced America was when he established November 26th as the official day for Thanksgiving. signed a copyright law that protected the copyright of authors. Then, right before George Washington passed away, he became opposed to slavery, though he owned around 300 slaves.

Hence Federalists came up with the Bill of Rights as a way to get the Constitution ratified and for people to really see a needed change. The Bill Of Rights which lists specific prohibitions on governmental power, lead the Anti-Federalists to be less fearful of the new Constitution . This guaranteed that the people would still remain to have rights, but the strong central government that the country needed would have to be approved. The 1804 Map of the nation shows that even after the ratification of the United States Constitution there still continued to be “commotion” and dispute in the country.(Document 8) George Washington stated that the people should have a say in the nation and government and everything should not be left to the government to decide.(Document 3) Although George Washington was a Federalist many believed he showed a point of view that seemed to be Anti-Federalists. Many believed that The Bill of Rights needed to be changed and modified and a new document’s time to come into place.

At a time many thought that the effects of a revolution would cause another one. The Articles of Confederation was the center of attention for this problem. After the fight for Independence the new America had to have a type of government. The Congress of this newly established nation created the Articles of Confederation. Of course problems would arise due to the ability of them knowing what they didn’t want when they should’ve known what the should have.

His ability to motivate troops, strategic thinking, discipline, personal integrity, and commitment to the cause were all key factors that contributed to America's success. Without Washington's leadership, it is unlikely that the United States would exist as we know it today. Washington's most significant strength was his ability to motivate troops. He inspired soldiers by leading from the front lines and exhibiting bravery under fire (Fleming, 2015). This tactic made him appear fearless and gave confidence to the troops that they were fighting for a worthy cause.

The politics of the newly independent country were shaped by the founding fathers’ past experiences with the British monarchy and parliament. They had to remember why the country left England originally and establish a government that avoided the mistakes Parliament made. James Madison warned in The Federalist that government had to monitor and control itself to control the citizens (Doc I). To do this, a bicameral legislature and three branches of government were created to balance the political power; to avoid one branch from gaining too much power the branches were able to check each other. In addition to the formation of the government, laws were passed to protect the colonists’ rights.

So how was a major figure in the American Revolution? Well, in the events that led to the Revolution he took a major stance, most famously in his criticism of George III after the Stamp Act got approved.   He opposed the prices forced by the Townshend Acts and the British attempt to collect them by using the Royal Navy
