This Historical fiction book took place in 1942 when the World War II was happening. The protagonist is a 9-year-old kid named Bruno, who is the son of the Nazi Commander. Bruno finds out that he is moving away from Berlin to Poland, where he then meets this Jew who is the same age as Bruno named Shmuel. Bruno then finds out that he can 't be friends with him because the Nazi hate the Jews, and then Bruno finds a way to “play” with Bruno that led to a significant consequence.
The most meaningful idea in the book is that race cannot separate friendship. Even though they are friends, the Nazis, and the Jews are not friends. It raised some questions that led me to think more deeply. I wondered why can 't they just be friends without their race coming into play? Why do the Nazis hate the Jews, when the Jews didn 't do anything to them? I felt outraged about that because Bruno and Shmuel and many other kids had to find out that they can 't be friends with different races. Upon further reflection, I started hating the Nazis more and saw how unscrupulous they were to the Jews. Also, this affected Bruno and Shmuel a lot too, because now they won 't ever become friends and now they see how just unfair this is. And now the kids have to deal with the same problem, which is not right because the kids didn 't even do anything. For example, when Bruno asked his older sister Gretel why he can 't go to the other side of the fence, and why they had to be kept away from us, and this is her reply, “The fence is there to stop them from coming over here… We’re the opposite, so the different live on this side of the fence and the Jews live on that.” Bruno now understands more clearly why he can 't go to the other aspect of the wall and why they are separated, which makes a big impact on him because he now knows that Shmuel and Bruno aren 't meant to be

The article, “Teens Against Hitler”, by Lauren Tarshis, describes Ben Kamm, a Jewish boy, and his fight against war and the prejudice Nazis had for the Jewish people. The article describes, “One of the darkest and most evil chapters in history- the Holocaust.” Ben Kamm and his family lived in Warsaw, Poland in the 1920’s. “Germany had been struggling since 1918 when it was defeated in WW1.” Adolf Hitler was planning on annihilating all the Jews in Europe.
The Truth About Many Jews Ellie Wiesel once said, “Without Passion, without haste.” The people in this true story were all treated like they were so much less than everyone else in the world. None of them had names that they went by anymore they just went by being called stupid Jews by the people who ran the camps. The things that had happened to these people were so unbelieveable. Millions of Jews were forced to cut their hair and were compared to dogs, or even sometimes called dogs.
That is important because it happened a lot during the Holocaust. Nazis, and even some Jews, treated Jews so cruelly. In the book thief, Liesel’s mother had to give up Liesel and her brother because she was a communist, and didn't want anything bad to happen to Liesel or her brother. Liesel was also bullied because of her parents being communist. People had to worry about being deported into the war, or being killed.

According to Oxford English Dictionary, Anti-Semitism is “hostile to or prejudice against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group.” In 1879, journalist Wilhelm Marr named the “Anti-Semitism” designate as the hatred of Jew, and also criticism of various liberal, cosmopolitan, and international political trends associated with Jews. We are generally known what Anti-Semitism is and how it affected in the past history such as Holocaust during World War II, then why we do not know much about it in the present.
In both stories the protagonist have and feel as if they have little to no power in the direction of which their life is heading. Shmuel the Jewish boy that Bruno befriends in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas does not really talk about or try to explain to Bruno what is really happening to him or even to try and ask Bruno why his people are doing this to his people. Without the fear of being afraid of the camp at first arrival or the fear of the Jew not eating because they know they will be killed, there wouldn’t be much hope. When Bruno moves to his new home he sees this wall with people within it. He got curious and started adventuring toward it. When he got there he met a new friend named Shmuel. They would always talk together and always wished they could play together somehow. In the book it says,” ‘ I could crawl under,’ said Bruno, reaching down and lifting the wire off the ground.
The Holocaust is a shining example of Anti-Semitism at its best and it was no secret that the Nazis tried to wipe out the Jews from Europe but the question is why did the Nazis persecute the Jews and how did they try to do it. This essay will show how the momentum, from a negative idea about a group of people to a genocide resulting in the murder of 6 million Jews, is carried from the beginning of the 19th Century, with pseudo-scientific racial theories, throught the 20th century in the forms of applied social darwinism and eugenics(the display of the T4 programme), Nazi ideas regarding the Jews and how discrimination increased in the form of the Nuremberg Laws , Kristallnacht, and last but not least, The Final Solution. Spanning throughout the 19th century, racial theories were seen. Pseudo-Scientific theories such as Craniometry,where the size of one’s skull determines one’s characteristics or could justifies one’s race( this theory was used first by Peter Camper and then Samuel Morton), Karl Vogt’s theory of the Negro race being related to apes and of how Caucasian race is a separate species to the Negro race, Arthur de Gobineau’s theory of how miscegenation(mixing or interbreeding of different races) would lead to the fall of civilisation.
This is where I start, In the fable, “The boy in the striped pajamas” by John Boyne took place during the holocaust. It’s easier to be brave if you don’t know how dangerous a situation is. Discuss whether Bruno is a brave boy or a coward. The holocaust was an example of genocide. It was between 1933 through 1945.
The Nazis were known for doing many things to Jews and others and they had their reasons. Their was many purposes for the things they did. The Nazis tried to defy the laws of human nature. They experiment on the Jews. They also tortured Jews just for the enjoyment.

This is a confusing, powerful story set during World War II where wealthy ignorant boy meets an “out-with” Jew. the film stays true to the book through the plot where Bruno dies, And deviates through the mother 's character and the resolution. Since Bruno died of the same reason in both the film version and the book, it shows how the film stayed true to the book. Bruno had left to go to the Concentration Camp with Shmuel thinking they would just go find Shmuel’s father and Say Goodbye.
Imagine the fear of this being you, even if you were a non-Jewish, upstanding young citizen of Nazi Germany. Many children probably felt this pang of danger. The author Markus Zusak captured a story of one of these kids. Not one who was sent away, but lived in the shadow of possibility of being slaughtered, as many did at that time.
