Andrew Jackson A Hero

As Andrew Jackson slowly rose to the complete power of president, controversy over his motives arose as well. Born in 1767 in South Carolina to a poverty-ridden family and an absent father, Jackson became one of the most debated presidents ever. His hot temper and self-reliance seemed to appeal to the people, yet his inability to take criticism and advice did not go unnoticed by the country’s government. To the bare eye he was a war hero, but if you dug deeper, you would discover he was a murderer, he was the common people’s choice, yet he seemed to not care about any other race besides his own. With these opposing characteristics, Jackson became the center of many debates and conflicts, hero or villain?

The era of Andrew Jackson which was nicknames the era of the “common man” certainly lived up to its name. As the seventh President of the United States, Jackson had a major effect on the life of the common man, in such a way that the life of the common man would never be the same again. Jackson’s aim, after the manner in which he was defeated in the Presidential Election of 1824, despite receiving more popular votes than John Quincy Adams who took on the office, was to reduce the power and the authority of the elite. When he came into power after the 1828 election Jackson began to carry out his proposals. Jackson expanded the voting right to all men, in accordance with the Declaration of Independence of 1776 which declared that “all men are created equal” instead of just the elite.

Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States of America, and it is argued if he had a positive or negative impact on the country. Andrew Jackson is known for 3 things during his 2 terms as president. Jackson is known for the bank war, the indian removal act, and being the only president to rid the country of debt. Andrew Jackson was a negative influence to the country. Andrew Jackson negatively impacted the United States because he signed the indian removal act into law, this act forced natives to move west from their land.

One reason I believe Andrew Jackson is a hero is because he worked hard to empower the common people. In the document “Jackson Battles the Bank”, it shows Jackson fighting off a monster, or the national bank, with a veto stick. Jackson was fighting to destroy the national bank. He wanted to do this because it favored the rich and not the common people. He was fighting for people to have equal rights. Instead of having no bank at all, he came up with the idea to create state banks which wouldn’t be as powerful as the National Bank.

However, he abused this position of power and made several choices that were detrimental to the welfare and rights of the American people. Jackson implemented the spoils system on a national scale and had unofficial members of his cabinet who did not have to answer to Congress. After South Carolinians were upset by the Tariff of 1832 he was angry toward those who did not agree with it. He also destroyed the National Bank and authorized the Specie Circular.

Andrew Jackson, being a tyrant, abused his power in his time of presidency.   He was the 7th president, but before Jackson’s presidency, he had no political experience. One of the only things that really qualified him was the hardships he went through when he was younger. His father had died while Jackson was young and Jackson received the reputation as a “self-made man”, or an independent man.

Does Andrew Jackson Deserve to be on the 20-dollar bill? In my belief Andrew Jackson does not belong on the 20-dollar bill, due to the simple fact of that in 1836 Andrew Jackson tried over throwing the U.S national bank because he believed that hard currency like gold and sliver should be used. Andrew Jackson in some sense is an ironic placement on any paper currency in the United States. Although this topic is very controversial in the United States. I will try and clarify my belief about why Andrew Jacksons placement on the twenty dollar bill and why he should be reconsidered.

Andrew Jackson was an amazing leader. He helped our country out by doing lots of things. He had a lot of leadership qualities and I would be excited to tell you some of his qualities. He also made very good decision making skills and he was a good listener. Andrew Jackson was a pragmatic leader who worked with patronage – oriental political system that excited then.

Andrew Jackson has been remembered as a ground breaking president, even being put on the $20. President Jackson was a controversial figure, doing many popular and unpopular things in his time. Although he is remembered as a hero from the war of 1812, he also caused the Trail of Tears and tried to destroy the National Bank. As a result, Jackson should not be put on the $20 bill. His actions have caused many misfortune showing that villains do exist.

Born in poverty, Andrew Jackson had become a wealthy Tennessee lawyer and rising young politician by 1812. When war broke out between the United States and Britain, his leadership in that conflict earned Jackson national fame as a military hero and he would become America’s most influential and polarizing political figure during the 1820’s and 1830’s. The year is 1763 in Tennessee and Washington D.C. during the life of Andrew Jackson. As he lived, Mr. Jackson did some foolish things and some impacting things. The poor sohuld get momey like the rich, and the rich should get money the same way as the poor. Being a normal man, the rich disliked him for his opinions that did not fit the rich men and women their needs. The conflict with the Bank, and the Indian Removal act made Jackson a hero in my opinion.

Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of the United States. His face appears on the $20 dollar bill but there is discussion of removing him and replacing him with another well known figure. Looking back through the history of his time did Andrew Jackson do more harm than good. He was born March 15, 1767 in a log cabin on the frontier between the Carolinas. He was a “common man” so the common folk loved him.

Andrew Jackson believed that he was a guardian of the Constitution .He was fixing the faulty interpretation of the constitution put forth by his fellow congress men. Jackson saw the banks as “monopoly of foreign and domestic exchange” he believed the wealthy people were using the banks to line their pockets with more money. One of Jackson’s opponents, Daniel Webster of Mass. . He believed that Jackson had no true facts on his assessment, in fact he saw the veto as alarming. In westers view, Jackson was using the constitutional argument to support his own grab for power.

Born into a non-aristocratic poor family, somewhere in the Carolina’s on March 14, 1767, was a man named Andrew Jackson. Jackson, also called “Old Hickory” was a very bold proactive man in American history. From being a military hero and founding the democratic party to enacting the trail of tears and dismantling the of the Bank of the United States, the man and his legacy are a prominent topic for scholarly debate. Some believe he was a great president and some believe he was the worse president. But if you look at it from a moral perceptive or in the eyes of a foreigner, Jackson’s legacy was far more villainous than heroic.
