Winnie and The Everlasting Water “ The brave may not live forever, but the cautious never live at all by”-Allison Moulton. In the beginning of the story Winnie runs away to find the forever living Tucks. Later Winnie finds out that the spring water made you immortal. In my opinion, I think Winnie should not have drunk the water because Winnie would have to watch her loved ones die, the population would increase, and Winnie would have to keep the secret to herself forever about the spring water. To begin with, Winnie should have not drunk the water because she would have to watch her loved ones die. For instance, Winnie’s grandmother is mortal which means she cannot live forever and she can die. In my opinion I think Winnie did the right decision to not drink the water because she wouldn’t have to see her loved ones die and onces her loved ones die she would be lonely forever. I think Winifred’s decision of giving the water to the toad was an excellent idea …show more content…

In my opinion I think that if Winifred drunk the water the population in Treegap would increase because the people that live in Treegap would want to live forever and if Winifred didn’t drunk the water there wouldn’t be a big population in Treegap. Also, the animals in Treegap or in the woods animals like the dog that was attacking the toad might drink the water and the population of the animals would increase. In my opinion I think that if everyone knew about the water the population would increase but since Winifred didn’t drink the water the population of Treegap is

"A Long Walk To Water", Nya's story by Linda Sue Park, explains how Nya had a stuggle for water, not knowing that there was water. The short story “On the Rainy River”, by Tim O’Brien is an exploration of how guilt and the pressures of society can shape one’s decision making. O’Brien feels guilty about going to war in Vietnam which contradicts his principles and his dream of becoming a writer. In the story, O’Brien admits, “I was a coward, I went to war” (O’Brien 80); he feared how the people of his community, and the rest of society would view him if he ran away. He feared the external embarrassment he would face if he dodged his draft notice instead of serving in the war; the fear of being judged by society was too unbearable for him to face. During O’Brien’s encounter with Elroy Berdahl, he is influenced to adhere to a decision, however, he chose to conform to the expectations of society.

Sometimes the relationship between two generations is very complicated. “My Father Is a Simple Man” by Luis Omar Salinas and “A secret Lost in the Water” by Roch Carrier explore these universal themes, the greatness of love together with the unavoidability of conflicts between two generations through the depiction of the speakers’ personal experience with their fathers. In “My Father Is a Simple Man”, the speaker expresses his love for his father deeply by highly complimenting that his father has sincere “kindness and patience” (Salinas 23) to take the speaker on “lifelong journey” (Salinas 9-10). In the end of the poem, the speaker firmly believes that he should “have learned” (Salinas 36) something from his father which states a manifestly
The ponderous, mythical opening of visionary auteur Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning film The Shape of Water gently guides us into its unique blend of horror and romance, surrounded by the same magic del Toro effortlessly captured in its spiritual predecessor, Pan’s Labyrinth from 2006. In the age of superhero blockbusters, endless sequels and reboots, del Toro’s sensual adult fantasy manages to make its voice heard amidst the cacophony of studio demands and creative restriction. Set during the height of the Cold War in Baltimore 1962, the film follows the journey of mute custodian Elisa Esposito (played with aplomb by Sally Hawkins), who works at a high-security government research facility, and a amphibious humanoid creature captured from South America. Elisa proves that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, that she doesn 't need to hide her identity under cynical facades; there is a nuanced strength at
