01.05 The Byzantines: Assessment
A.
1. How would you name the school? What would be its mascot? Explain your choices.
I would name the school Lincoln High School (named after the famous US president) because Lincoln was able to accomplish many things as president. Without Lincoln the US would be a very different place. The mascot would be the monkey because monkeys are extremely intelligent creatures.
2. Why do you think symbols like a name or mascot are so important to the people of the city? Symbols and mascots are important to people in the city because it represents the city.
3. Why would it be important to the students?
It’s important to the students because is what the students will be identified as by other schools and what the students can

Identify two challenges that principal may have in achieving those goals?
One challenge the principal might face is finding staff that meets those standards.
Another challenge the principal might face if finding time to listen to the opinions of the students because he is extremely busy.

1. How does this controversy relate to the development of the Byzantine Empire?
This controversy related to the development of the Byzantine Empire is similar because the high school was split in half just like the Byzantine Empire. Also at the high school meeting everybody wanted different mascots and schools names. Just like how in the Byzantine Empire there were conflicts over the use of icons and over interpretations of the Bible.
2. How does this controversy differ from issues in the Byzantine Empire?
The controversy at the high school is different because they were about completely different topics. The high school controversy was about the school name and mascot. While the controversies in the Byzantine Empire were about religion and government. Also the controversy at the high school had a lot more opinions present for the school name and mascot. While in the Byzantine Empire there was usually only 2 opposing
Here are some more examples of why she should be the mascot. One reason, is because she is the goddess of love. It would encourage children to be loving and kind to others. We should love others like God loves us, just like the Golden Rule treat others like you would like to be treated.
It is noticeable that the government's, role in the two capitals was similar. Although, it is also clear that the area's culture and tradition had a critical involvement in how the empire was run. The role of the state in Constantinople during the post classical era was similar to in Xi’an in that both state’s greatly promoted militaristic values. Also, both had state sponsorship of a specific religion.
These intense wars were being fought of heated religious disagreements (ultimately what caused The Great Schism); the use of unleavened bread for the sacrament of communion was one of the many matters of theological contention between the western (Roman) and eastern (Byzantine) branches of the church. How much Anna understood about the warriors who served her own Empire is unclear. She is amazed at the crossbows used by the Crusaders, despite
There has been a great controversy over whether or not schools and teams keep their Mascots that portray images of Native Americans. Articles in newspapers, websites, and magazines discussing the topic are provided to the public. There is even a press release from the supreme court where they have addressed such issue. Schools, teams, and Native Americans have viewed these documents and taken their own stand on the issue. I am going to decide whether or not cities/teams should get rid of their Native American mascots/nicknames.
#1 The biggest argument that people make for the teams keeping mascots and their names is that a small percent of Native Americans are really “offended” by them. The percent of Native Americans that are offended shouldn’t be ignored just because they are a small percent On top of that, the statistics involved are complicated and hard to verify. #2 Teams seem to “target” Native Americans: Use their image and names with less worry about retaliation because they are a minority and would be less likely to retaliate than another group, in the case of their culture being attacked #3 The image of another culture (which is more prominent and larger in our society) wouldn’t be used as a mascot or team name because it would offend a larger group
Chapter three does a good job pointing out that compulsory attendance laws served as an impetus for challenging schools over both their segregationist and exclusionary policies toward students of differing race and ability (Yell, 2016, p. 36). At the time our government was sending a very ambiguous message to students and their families. On one hand, the law of the land dictated that students must attend school, conversely schools continued to exclude students with disabilities. This inherent contradiction let to parent advocacy groups challenging schools for the fair and equal treatment of their children.
The religious factor and its influence on the political life in the Byzantine Empire In the reign of Hercules 610-641 AD The viewer to the history of the Byzantine Empire will find many emperors who have made the effort to keep their survival as a political entity has its position and influence in the middle Ages, and perhaps the most prominent of those emperors was Emperor Hercules, which enables access to power in 610 and lasted until the year 641 AD. The reign of Hercules permeated many of the political and religious events that have had a significant impact on both the Byzantine Empire and the era of the Middle Age.
Then and Now of The Kansas City Chiefs The Kansas City Chiefs were founded in 1960 by the Lamar Hunt Family. The Chiefs were originally the Dallas Texans and were a part of the American Football League (AFL). The Texans won the AFL Champion in 1962 and shortly after that they were relocated to Kansas City, Missouri and were renamed to the Kansas City Chiefs. After they won the AFL championship for the second time in 1966, they merged into the National Football League (NFL). They then became a part of the American Football Conference (AFC)
This caused even more of a need for separation than ever before, finally in 1054 that split came and the two became their own distinguished churches. (Document 1) After the separation, the Latin Catholics had seemed to grow even angrier at the Greeks, this caused the two sides to want to fight and harm each other because they felt that because of their differences that the other was wrong so they assumed that the only way to be right was to get rid of them and to get rid of their ideas and beliefs. (Document 9) As the two continued to try and find ways to end the others spread of beliefs and ideas and to end their religion all together, more and more war was fought. The King of Sicily surrendered to the Pope and along with that he gave him all of the land that he had conquered and the Pope promised that God would protect him, so this helped the Latin Catholics gain land and continue to spread their beliefs and ideas while trying to stop the Greek Orthodox from spreading their religion.
And in 21 st century we should investigate and study more about the reason why Byzantines empire has fallen . As a result schools should study Byzantine empire to improve students
The development of Western Europe and the Byzantine Empire were different due to government, economies and religion. The Byzantine Empire was ruled by an Emperor instead of a King, while Western Europe was separated into different countries by the language spoken. Western Europe had social systems of feudalism in place to serve the people. Christianity played a major role in both of the developments of Western Europe and the Byzantine Empire. The Byzantine Empire was influenced by Romans, but Western Europe considered the Pope to be of high influence and guidance.
Throughout history, there has been many battles in which two large and powerful empires fought to maintain land, fought over religion, or to gain an abundance of resources. These empires, the Greek and the Persian, were hostile towards each other at the time. Although these empires were quite similar, they were near direct opposites at the time.
The Western Roman Empire fell in 476 AD. There were many factors that went into the fall of the Roman Empire. Economic problems they dealt with was one of the main reasons the Empire fell. Since the romans were not doing good Economically they could not fund the military in order to protect them, which also led to the fall of their military. Socio-Political problems were also a factor; there was a decline in interest to public affairs.
Another significant similarity in the spread and development of these beliefs is that both faiths would experience a split that would change history forever. In 1054, a combination of political tension, theological differences, and leadership disputes between Rome and Constantinople caused what become known as the “Great Schism”. The Great Schism created two separate churches, the Roman Catholic Church, and the Eastern Orthodox Church. These two churches remained under a state of excommunication from 1054 until 1965 when the leaders of the two churches finally agreed to meet and resume dialogue after
Religious symbols being displayed in schools has caused a significant amount of controversy and debate, particularly in what could be considered a more liberal and free thinking global society. The state of societies and nations today seem to follow a secular position of government with there being no influence of religion on the operations of government. However, a more common scenario is that of a clear distinction between religion and state. Whilst the question posited asks us to determine whether or not school should display religious symbols in the classroom, the more significant question should be to what extent is there a separation of state and religion, and can it be justifiable in a supposed secular state for religious symbols to
