A Bowl of Serial On January 13th 1999 Hae Lee went missing after school, some time between 2:15-2:36. Her Ex boyfriend, Adnan, was accused of strangling her. A kid named Jay testified against her ex-boyfriend Adnan, saying he had evidence that Adnan did stangled Hae Lee and was put in jail for it. I believe Adnan is innocent and did not kill Hae Lee, because Jay seemed to be the guilty one with his inconsistent stories and admitting that he lied. While being interviewed by the police multiple times , he admitted that he did not tell the truth when speaking to the judge about the case. One piece of evidence that proves that Adnan is innocent and that did not kill Hae Lee is Jay's inconsistencies in his stories and interviews when talking to the police. When Jay is being interviewed by the police he tells in chronological order what happened and what he remembers from that night when Hae Lee was murdered. Evertime Jay told his story a small detail or location would change and not match up with the original story. In Episode 4: Inconsistencies Jay is being interviewed by the police, they had asked “why would you lie about the location? ”. Jay responded with, “Because I’m …show more content…
During this time Sarah is talking to a detective named Jim Trainum who was looking through Jay's stories and was concerned about the inconsistencies in Jay's story. When Sarah is talking to detective Jim, She brings up a very good fact that “Jay had a big piece of reliable information that the cops themselves did not know. Where Hae’s car was”. Jay ended up showing the cops right where the car was. If Jay was not involved in murdering Hae Lee or being an accomplice, then how would he have known where her car was parked? He could have parked it there and told them that Adana put it there and just told him where it was
They used a kid’s testimony named Jay to put Adnan away, but his claims keep changing over time. The state should not declare Adnan guilty because Jay’s testimony is too inconsistent. Jay is very inconsistent in his testimonies. According to Serial Timeline Map, Jay’s first interview he said that he saw Hae’s body in the trunk of her own car at the Edmondson strip
The Serial podcast narrated by Sarah Koenig. Tells a story about a teenage boy Adnan Syed who was falsely accused of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. For the past months tuning in on this podcast I have not been convinced that there is any physical evidence, or anything that can in fact draw Adnan to this crime. The evidence is indeed flimsy. I have come to the conclusion that with the lack of evidence that Adnan is indeed innocent.
The evidence will show that the State's main witness, Jay Wilds, who was allegedly involved in the aiding of the victims murder, is an unreliable witness. Jay’s testimony has many inconsistencies and misleading information. During Jay’s interrogation with the police, he changes multiple parts of his story. The following are a few of the modifications the witness made, one Jay states to have refused to help in the digging of the victims grave but later reforms his story and states he did. Two, Jay told police Adnan informed him about his plan to murder Ms. Lee the day the murder occurred but later alters his story and says Adnan had frequently mentioned killing her.
At the age of 17, Adnan Syed was charged for the murder of Hae Min Lee, but I don’t believe he did it, and I want to tell you why I think it was Jay who committed the murder. In this case there are days worth of reading for evidence. Just in the transcripts, there’s 288 pages, some of it evidence, some of it conversations, and some of it interviews. There are so many people involved that it's very difficult to say for certain that Adnan did it, but it's also very difficult to point out anyone else that could have done it as well.
In conclusion, Adnan is innocent because of how short the time frame of Hae’s death and school ending was, how Adnan barely can remember anything from the day of her disappearance, and because of Asia McClain’s testimony. Even though Adnan wasn’t the perfect Muslim son, he is overall innocent because at the time, everyone else was doing what Adnan was doing. He was a normal teenager, living a normal teenager life. In the end, Adnan is still very much innocent but he still faced life in prison. Unfortunately, there are times when bad things happen to good people.
Adnan is then accused of the murder of his former girlfriend. Adnan Syed is not guilty. He did not kill Hae Min out of spite after they split, he is never seen with Hae after school or in her car, and he has a strong alibi with two witnesses. Adnan did not kill Hae out of spite as they had a mutual breakup.
According to Adnan’s call log, at 3:32 pm a call was made to Nisha which lasted 2:22. The call was placed around cell tower L651C, which is around the school. Jay couldn’t have made this call because Nisha was a friend of Adnan. According to Adnan’s call log, there was two calls made to Jenn’s pager around the area where Hae was buried.
In episode 4, Jay was inconsistent with his story. Jay told Jenn that Adnan killed Hae, because apparently “Hae broke his heart”. However, he presented a different testimony to the detectives. He reported to the cops that he assisted Adnan in the murder, but he told Jenn that he never helped Adnan to kill Hae. He also reported that Adnan told him a few days before he killed Hae, but he then says that he didn’t know until the murder.
These two reasons are all that a person should need to believe that Adnan didn't have enough motive, or time, to kill Hae. Jays testimony sets the timeline and proves there is enough evidence, which is not presented by Adnan’s lawyer, to say Adnan is innocent by a straying story. The time period where Hae could've been killed does not match Adnan’s timeline. Jay, who is a convicted felon, was the only witness and is trusted to give a good story. Cristina Gutierrez, who was Adnan’s lawyer, had medical issues that distracted her from using useful information in his case.
However, the beginning ends with detectives interviewing Jay, an acquaintance of Adnan, who claims that Adnan repeatedly spoke about murdering Hae, and called him when he had supposedly
First off, Jay takes the police to where Hae’s car was parked (Koenig, “Inconsistencies”). Jay was obviously involved in some type of way since he knows where Hae’s car was hidden. If he was guilty of the murder, why would he show the police where the car is and turn himself in? Jay is a trustworthy man by showing he was involved and knows who committed the murder. Also, the timeline the state uses for their claim from after school to the murder matches the length of time.
This includes two crucial details that, in the opinion of many, are difficult to mix up: whether or not Jay actually assisted in burying Hae's body, and where Adnan allegedly showed him Hae's body. In the first recorded interview with Jay, he stated that he was unwilling to assist Adnan in burying Hae's body and that Adnan had allegedly shown him the victim's body on Edmondson Avenue at 3:25 PM. On the contrary, Jay claims in his second recorded interview that he assisted in burying Hae's body and that Adnan allegedly showed him the body in a Best Buy parking lot. The mixing of these two details opposes the suspension of whether or not what he is testifying is accurate. Since seeing a body would be traumatic and not a simple memory you could easily mix up, explain to me how Jay would forget any of these details.
In court, the state of Maryland uses Jay’s testimony to prove Adnan’s innocence. Police interview Jay multiple times before the trial. In each of the interviews, Jay testifies differently. “In the first taped interview, Jay says Adnan only told him that same day that he was going to kill Hae. Two weeks later, Jay says that Adnan had started talking about it beforehand - four or five days before”(Episode 4. 00:25:39-00:25:51).
This proves that Adnan was the one who killed her. Jay and Adnan both committed a serious crime. Adnan killed Hae with the help from
And people who would have come into contact with Adnan that afternoon were not experts in detecting slight changes in Adnan. Jays saying Adana called him to pick him up from best buy and when he got there Adnan was at the phone booth talking, but sarah got blueprints of best buy and they was never one built. Why did jay lie?or if it lack of memory.? Inclusion Adnan couldn't have a motive in killing hae. I believe that Adnan is innocent and didn't kill Hae Min Lee.
