A Summary Of No Ordinary Joe

There is a large presence of power when Joe is introduced into the story. Joe has dominance over Eatonville as well as over Janie. What strived the control over Janie and the people of Eatonville was the desire of power. His power caused the townspeople to appreciate his effort of change in the town however, they also fear his strength.

Louise M. Porter was an author, historian, and a founding member of the St. Joseph Historical Society. She was the society’s president for the first seven years of its existence. She was instrumental in the establishment of the bylaws, goals, rules and procedures that made the society function effectively. She had a passion for the rich history of the West Florida area and Port St. Joe in particular. She dedicated many years of her life in researching and editing the manuscript for this book.

Connie states, "‘Abuela points her finger at me like a judge passing a sentence on a criminal. She says in Spanish, ‘You made me feel like a zero, like a nothing’”

The Importance of Rationality At often times one may believe that making decisions should be predominantly based upon what one may feel or desire, though in reality such process frequently results in negative consequences, thus why in the process of making decisions, love should not overtake rationality. When love is prioritized in decision making, it tends to cause thoughts that typically won’t better the situation for those who are involved, while rationality would instead provide the proper reasoning to create a suitable outcome. In the process of making decisions, love should not overtake rationality.

The choices that I make will always follow me around and will never go away. We all make choices everyday and it can be on anything. I remember when I made the choice to not study for a test and as you can guess, the outcome was bad. Sometimes we don’t think before we act and that makes us chose careless and dreadful choices.

The relationships in the family become dysfunctional because of their lack of communication. Conflict management could have assisted the Jarrett family with their situation. Conrad, Beth, and Calvin all participate in acts of “silence” or “violence.” Conrad shows acts of “silence” or “violence” in a myriad of ways.

The Jarrett family is going through a tough time after the death of the eldest son, Buck. Many techniques could help the family create safety, but the most common techniques are to create safety with the family, so that there is no cause for confrontation. Sometimes the choices we make are very dangerous, but in our mind and heart, we know it is correct. We do not have much time in our life to be sad and regret things we do. Therefore we need to make choices that make us happy and satisfied. People should live their life how they want to because it will make them a happier person. In the books that we have read in class, I have noticed a constant force each character had of having a choice that would make them happier.

In the world that we live in today, there are many things that we face daily. Whether it be illness, love or just bad decisions, everybody encounters them and many more. Rash decisions are made on a very common basis among people. A lot of stuff affect the decisions you make. May it be, being too young and not having enough experience to make good decisions, or just the lack of care of the outcome.

So making a bad decision is never fun. I’d like to think that most of us prefer not to make them but can’t help to sometimes because we think a bad decision isn’t that bad. It might even be a good one in the right mind set. The point of this paper being to reflect on a pass choice looking at it with the elements of critical thinking. My bad decision is one I think most are guilty of, waiting until the last minute on something important.
