For my final project I chose to view the television film Adam (1983) (YouTube). This movie is about Adam Walsh, a six-year-old boy, who was abducted and murdered in Hollywood, Florida on July 27, 1981. Adam and his mother, Reve Walsh, had gone to the Sears Department Store at the Hollywood Mall. Reve Walsh left Adam in the toy department to watch older boys play video games while she went to inquire about a lamp that she was interested in buying. When Mrs. Walsh returned to the toy department some 10 to 15 minutes later, Adam was gone.
Mrs. Walsh frantically searched for her son. She first searched the immediate area and when she did not find Adam she went to the customer service department and asked to have him paged over the store’s

The parents, John and Reve Walsh suffered and continue to suffer the loss of their precious child. They had to experience intense questioning by the police as they had to be ruled out as suspects. They also spent many sleepless nights worrying about their son until the horror of his death was revealed. After their son’s death they experienced depression, grief and their marriage was shaken. The children John and Reve had following Adam’s death were also secondary victims. They had to witness their parents’ grief and Adam’s death most definitely changed the way they were parented. The grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of Adam Walsh were secondary victims. They too experienced depression, grief and loss.
A final secondary victim would be all the police who worked so diligently trying to find Adam. For more than two decades, police tried to locate Adam’s murderer. A drifter by the name of “Ottis Toole, had confessed twice to killing the child, but later recanted.” (NBCNews.com) Unfortunately, critical DNA evidence from Toole’s impounded car and a machete that were found were lost by the police. It was not until December of 2008 that police acknowledged their mistakes and Ottis Toole was named as Adam Walsh’s

In Chapter 7, Child Abduction and Exploitation, the book discusses the “Code Adam” program. This program “established a protocol to find missing children in department stores” (Burgess, et al. page 233). Additionally, because of this crime, John Walsh helped form the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Missing Children’s Act was enacted in 1982. “In 1981, when Adam disappeared, you couldn’t enter missing children information into the FBI computer system” (Allen, Ernie). There was no way of tracking missing children. “The Missing Children’s Act of 1982 and the subsequent Missing Children Assistance Act of 1984, which requires the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to conduct periodic studies to determine the number of U.S. children reported missing and the number of children recovered during a given year” (Burgess, et al. page
The mother was seen in the office today by me again. It was a result of my calling her up yesterday that she showed up. Her dress was very simple, not what I espected at all. She seem ambivalent about coming to see me – didn’t know what I was going to do I guess. Most of the time we talked about Charlie.
Chris Carmack was once best known for his muscle head character's line, "Welcome to The O.C., bitch!" Nowadays, he's more synonymous with Nashville than Newport, and he's taking that nation vibe off-screen. The Nashville performing artist's part on the show has had some impact on his genuine living. Be that as it may, despite the fact that Carmack as of late discharged his EP Pieces of You, yet blue grass music wasn't generally on his radar.
The other child was nearing his second birthday. Sheila’s body was shown reverence after her murder; Simmons placed her on the table in the dining room. Simmons covered Sheila’s body with a tablecloth. Simmons shot Sheila’s husband and strangled her two children. The small body of the boy found rest in another car trunk on the Simmons family

Adam Savage once stated "Failure is always an option. " This is true when working with C-4, Fireworks, Liquid nitrogen, Sulfuric acid, and anything in the name of science. This law is still in effect today when working with scientific material. What matters is what you do to retry, like they do in Mythbusters. Adam Savage was born on July 15, 1967.
Did you know that some prisoners in concentration camps during WWII were subjected to serious, and sometimes fatal medical experiments done on them? There are three different categories of medical experiments. These experiments were only done to help the Nazis survive during that time. Hitler was originally the one who gave the german physicians permission to do these horrific experiments on innocent people.

First of all, I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to apply for the Clarence A. Hawkes Scholarship. With the cost of a college education increasing to new heights, scholarships become all the more important. I have participated in numerous and varied extracurricular activities throughout my life, and all these extracurriculars take up a considerable amounts of time. For instance, most days last Fall I would arrive at the school at 7:00 for marching band, have class from 8:15-3:20, cross country from 3:30-5:15 and then musical practice from 6:30-9:00. These time commitments taught me to manage my time and to never take weekends for granted.
Unfortunately, I was not surprised that Johnnetta and her sister Sonya fell into prostitution as well as substance abuse because living on the streets was to be expected due to their upbringing. In Michael’s case, it was heart wrenching to see him falsely confess to abusing his sister solely because he was overwhelmed by the fear of his father. Although he had been separated from his parents for some time, it was upsetting to imagine the kind of differing emotions, both angry and devastated, Michael experienced after finding out of his father’s murder and suicide. Although the stories of their childhood gave me similar feelings to what I have when I hear of any abuse, it was a breath of fresh air to hear of the successes of two victims. I was taken aback
When people are traumatized by an event they are pushed to experience the five stages of grief. The “Gospel”, by Philip Levine and “the boy detective loses love”, by Sam Sax both use characters that are going through one of the stages of grief. Levine and Sax both explain the thoughts and process of what a person thinks when they go through these stages with imagery. Levine uses symbolism, a sad tone, and a set setting in “Gospel” to illustrate that grieving takes you into a depth of thoughts. Sax uses anaphoras, an aggressive tone, and an ambiguous setting to convey that grieving takes you into a tunnel of anger and rage.
Lost Sparrow is a film about the pros and cons of inter-racial/out-of-state adoption, the death of two boys, and an exorbitant amount of secrets a single family can keep within their folds. This film shows us that secrets always come out and can directly affect relationships and the lives of those around you. Secrets are a big theme in this film, as it shows you what they can do to the people around you, and who people really are. Lost Sparrow illustrates how the truth comes out, and how it can be distorted over time depending on the people involved. Overall, this film made me angry and sad at how difficult these children’s lives were.
In this stage, I will describe what I felt about the situation. At first, I was amazed at the way Susan was taking care of the situation. She was continuously trying to keep John calm, but even she knew that she was failing at it. The pain on her face whilst telling her husband that their son will be coming late, when in reality he won’t be coming at all, was clear. At this point I wondered that how many times John must have asked this question at home and how Susan would have taken care of the situation.
