The Serial Killer Adnan Syed’s case was skewed against his innocence in the Hae Min Lee murder Case. The police and detectives came up with unreasonable reasons for Syed’s will to kill Lee, and they constantly backed up their theories with invalid testimonies of others. However, many of the theories against Adnan could be supported through phone records and alibis. There is one issue with the conviction of Syed. Syed repeats his innocence by saying, “I had no reason to kill her” (Koenig Episode 1). Murder is the result of a violent drive or hatred from an individual. Adnan did not have this drive. Although many theories have led to the conviction of Adnan Syed, the insufficient evidence supporting his guilt lacked reason, consistency, and reliability leaving the possibility behind of a third person being involved, a serial killer. One of the hardest things to fathom is what drove Adnan to strangle Hae. Police officials kept coming back to the fact that Adnan was the ex-boyfriend, but this doesn’t hold much value when Syed claims the break-up was mutual and they continued to be friends despite breaking up (Koenig Episode 2). Mutual breakups typically don’t end up in rage against one another, which is why the theory of Adnan being guilty is so hard to believe. If he had no bad feelings toward her then there would be no motive for him to kill her in the first place. In addition to the motive issue behind Adnan’s conviction, Adnan repeatedly claims that he did not
There is motive as to why Adnan would kill Hae. Adnan bended his religion by dating Hae and having sex with her. He had given up a lot to be with her. When Hae broke up with him, it gives him motive to kill her because he was so angry for giving up so much. In episode 2 of the podcast, one of Adnan’s teachers said that his poetry was dark, and she hasn’t seen writing like that from other students.
Eileena Luu Mrs. Eddins English II Honors 03/30/23 Opening Statement Greetings, people of the jury, my name is Eileena Luu. I am here to represent the prosecution of Adnan Syed who murdered Hae Min Lee. When Hae told Adnan that she would be breaking up with him for the final time he was heart-wrenched as if someone had taken a piece of him away. Sadness and anguish continued to consume him more after he found out that Hae would quickly find another partner to share her love with.
In the podcast “Serial” by Sarah Koenig, Adnan expressed his anger over the breakup. The breakup could have lashed out anger which could have driven Adnan towards violence against Hae, leading her to her demise. However, this is one possibility out of many that could have motivated Adnan to commit such a horrendous crime. Possibly, Adnan and Hae’s secret relationship could have led up to Hae’s tragic death. Also, Adnan’s religion affects the relationship which leads up to Hae Min Lee’s tragic death.
According to crime stoppers 9 out of 10 first time killers will not be able to get a good night sleep because they are restless, because the guilt of killing someone eats them alive. If Adnan really did kill Hae than why was he not restless and sound asleep, the guilt would have especially been bothered by killing someone because the whole community would have been against him and his family. The fact that Adnan never got to say his side of the story makes him innocent alone. How can you throw some one in jail without hearing what they had to say or their point of view on how things played out.
Instead, it was a façade and as soon as she got what she wanted I saw her for what she was; a pathological liar. This liar that wasted my precious time and money and took me for granted. Adnan and I share the same common bond of being betrayed by a friend. A friend of Adnan named Jay threw him under the bus by stating that Adnan murdered his ex-girlfriend Hae and he helped bury the body as proof it was true. My betrayal relates only in the matter that a friend of mine that I believed was a decent human being bedded my girlfriend while we were dating.
Murder, the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another. Premeditated means that the killing of the person was planned out, this helps support that Adnan Syed is not guilty. In 1999 an eighteen year old girl named Hae Min Lee went missing from Baltimore, Maryland. Her ex boyfriend Adnan Syed was accused of murdering her and disposing her body in Leakin park. The problem is that all the evidence used to persecute Adnan does not add up to make a strong case.
Think about how often people get arrested and how often trials are held every year, let alone everyday. Oftentimes, innocent people are accused and charged for a crime that wasn’t there fault. This was the case for Adnan Syed, an innocent guy who was put in jail for a murder case. On January 13, 1999, Hae Min Lee was murdered at the age of 17. The evidence for this case was very unexplainable, but of course, the state went after Hae’s ex-boyfriend Adnan who really had nothing to do with the murder.
Adnan Syed Innocent or Guilty? If asked 12 weeks ago, it would have been so simple, but now a question that once seemed straight forward, is so complex. Sarah Koenig reports on the mystery, that all started on January 13, 1999, when an 18-year-old girl by the name of Hae Min Lee went missing. One month later, on February 9th, her body was found in Leakin Park, in Baltimore, Maryland. After an extensive autopsy, it was found that Hae was strangled to her death.
Is the murderer truly guilty or was he at the wrong place at the wrong time? In the podcast Serial by Sarah Koenig has an impact on Adnan being guilty of murdering Hae Min Lee. The explanation of the lasting impact of guilt for murder underlines the difficult question that surrounds Adnan regarding whether he is guilty of murdering Hae min lee. There are many debates on how Adnan is guilty but there are two that stick out. Adnan Syed is guilty of killing Hae min lee because of the cell phone records pinpointed near the burial site where Hae’s body was discovered.
This was quite the battle for Adnan Syed, a young oriental male who was accused of murdering his long-time girlfriend in January of 1999. Hae-Min Lee, Adnan’s girlfriend, went missing in January and her body was found buried in a local park 3 weeks later. Adnan Syed is innocent of killing Hae-Min Lee because of three reasons: Cristina Gutierrez, Adnan’s lawyer, failed to put him in a position to win the trial, Jay is not an effective witness, and the window of time does not match up. Adnan is not at fault
Instead, the entire case rests on the shoulders of one person. Investigators should never believe someone without more proof to support their words, but of course, there was none. Physical evidence is the only believable part of a case, because it cannot be disproven and it will not lie. Without it, Adnan could not be brought to his knees. Jay Wilds was the only thing that the State had against Adnan, and that clearly was not
In my opinion, I think Adnan Syed is innocent what do you think? This argumentative essay is about a serial podcast is about the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee. The person charged for her murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison was Adnan Syed but due to the evidence I do not think Adnan Syed is Guilty of the murder of Hae Min Lee. The first reason why I think Adnan Syed is innocent.
The court did not have enough conclusive evidence to pin the murder on Adnan. I also believe other steps should have been taken, if not before the trial right afterwards, like testing the DNA they found on Hae and in her car. I also believe Adnan's lawyer should have talked to Asia and that the police should have checked more into some of Jay's statements. There are some coincidences that might seem like the murderer could have been Jay, Adnan or friends of theirs instead of a random person. I just personally believe, that if this were to happen nowadays Adnan would not have received the plea he did, more information would have to be brought into the case.
Relationships, lies, murder, conviction. These are all aspects that come into play when talking about the January 13th, 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed, Hae’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend was convicted of her murder in 2000. The problem with this is that the only evidence the state had to convict Adnan was the stories told by others, specifically someone named Jay who was with Adnan for some of the day Hae went missing and had possession of Adnan’s car and cell phone. He claims Adnan made him come pick him up after the murder was committed and assist him in burying Hae’s body.
Of course, many people think Adnan Syed is guilty of murdering Hae by contradicting himself, by saying, “I am in here for my own mistakes.” He might have been on the edge of confessing his guilt until Sarah caught this and asked what he meant, and quickly recovers from his mistake. Adnan also slips his tongue by saying that he wants people to only look at the evidence, and not his personality. If I were convicted of a crime I would certainly like to have my personality be looked at, if I were innocent. So they could see what good I have done.
