Far from being a disinterested agent of justice, Wargrave is a sadist, taking perverse pleasure in murder. I did find this character interesting i like that he was very seek about killing the people. It just is so creepy that he killed everybody just one by one. The main events in the story as they discuss what to do, Tony Marston chokes on poisoned whiskey and dies. Frightened, the party retreats to bed, where almost everyone is plagued by guilt and memories of their crimes. Vera Claythorne notices the similarity between the death of Marston and the first verse of a nursery rhyme, “Ten Little Indians,” that hangs in each bedroom. Then the remaining guest started to die from various things. The conflict in the story an anonymous killer gathers a collection of strangers on Indian Island to murder them as punishment for their past crimes. Climax was the apparent death of Judge Wargrave and the disappearance of Dr. Armstrong strip away any sense of order. Conclusion police officers find ten dead bodies on the island and clear evidence that someone else killed them.Wargrave reveals the logic—ahem, “logic”—behind his decision to commit the crimes and then confess to
The book had a dull plot, witless characters, and a predictable ending after the third chapter. 7 Having taken down the license number and now following the car, the detective was ready to close in on the murderer. 8 Sometimes I feel as though l 'm badgered by my boss, ignored by my husband, and abandoned by my best friend.
Conflict: A group of teens that are invited to a 3 day party on an island, start going missing and then are found lifeless, all with different death scenarios. There is only one killer on the island and nobody knows who it is... "Ten teens, Three days, One killer" Theme: The theme of this story is that you cant trust anybody, whether it is a close friend or a complete stranger because you don’t know what people are really capable of. This relates to this story because these teens cant trust anybody when many of them are starting to die and they don’t know who the killer, to them everybody is a suspect. Quotes from the book: "I want to point out that any of us could have committed these murders" "YOU READ MY DIARY???" Setting: This
The climax is when Nelly finally kills Skelly. There is not much of a falling action because of the sudden abrupt end the play after learning about the murder. The resolution was Skelly was murdered by Nelly and Driver Jr. got away with rape. The theme was, even when people are as undesirable and morally wrong sometimes they may be telling the truth, so we should always have a open mind on people and give them a chance to do
A kill for a kill. As I know, Matt Fowler is the father and Frank is the youngest of the Fowler bunch. Frank lies 6 feet underground peacefully while Matt and Ruth morn. Wanting Richard dead for what he did. Matt towards the end of the story murders Richard.
10 people were sent to a mysterious island called Indian Island. They were sent there for a vacation, but it was not the type of vacation they were hoping for, it was a death trap. The people sent were all criminals who were never caught. Most of them are very dangerous and deserved to be put on Indian Island except for few individuals who should have had different consequences for their actions. Emily Brent did not deserve to be sent to Indian Island to die.
(Jackson, 231) The climax of the novel is a tense and suspenseful scene where Pippa confronts the real killer and puts herself in danger to uncover the truth. Through her determination and bravery, justice is finally served, and the real culprit is brought to
But he is the villian in the end. Agatha Chritie makes us feel like there is no villian at all. Judge Wargrave changes his personalty from the begging to the end. At first he seems nice, then he seems like the percfet hero, but at the need he is an evil person who wanted to kill people who were wrong and accidnet or purposaly killed other pople. The judge says in the book,I have wanted-let me admit it frankly-to commit a murder myslef.”
“Little House On The Prairie”, written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, is a book which is comprised of several stories of the life of Laura and her family in the frontier. The one story from the book was titled “Indians In The House”. The father of Laura, and her sister, Mary, was leaving to hunt, and made sure that they would never unchain their dog, Jack. As soon as he left, the girls discover two Natives entering their home. The girls were leaning towards sending Jack to attack the invaders in hopes of protecting their mother and little sister, but decided against it.
The novel, And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, begins with ten characters, each with a skeleton in his or her closet, on a remote island off the English coast. They soon realize that they have been brought there by an insane judge, who has tried each of them for criminal behavior in the past, and who now feels it is his duty to grant proper justice for each. The struggle to stay alive begins as each guest is eliminated. Walter Huston, Louis Hayward, and C. Aubrey Smith are among those marked for death. It is a novel full of suspense that can keep you guessing what will happen next with every page.
After they realize that the assailant is one of them, and not someone hiding on the island, (on page 165) the first character introduced, Justice Lawrence Wargrave, said that “I reiterate my positive belief that of the seven persons assembled in this room one is a dangerous and probably insane criminal… From now on, it is our task to suspect each and every one amongst us.” While they do this, they believe that the murderer is one of the others (which is true), but their guesses are usually incorrect. For example, on page 169-170, Philip Lombard and Vera Claythorne discuss who they think the killer is and both of them are wrong. Philip suspects Judge Lawrence Wargrave and Vera suspects Doctor Armstrong, who Lombard soon begins to distrust as well. The use of irony adds to the suspense because it shows that the characters cannot escape their fate by reasoning out who the killer is, as they are always
And Then There Were None is a thriller story written by Agatha Christie. The story is about ten strangers have been invited to an island by a mysterious host. Soon the ten guests get murdered one by one, the murderer is one of them, they try to find who is it. The story is orchestrated, the ingenuity of the layout in each murder case, the mystery of the puzzle, and the surprise of the ending, all the whodunit aspects of the story attract the reader's attention, especially when all ten people have died, and the last one dead is not the killer. It is simply impossible to commit a crime, keep the reader interesting, curious and guessing who is the killer.
The climax happens when Turtle Wexler figures out that Sam Weston is not dead but is actually disguised as Sandy McSouthers. The body the residents were shown was Mr. McSouthers, not Sam Weston’s. In the will it stated, “who will find the fourth”.
Once the victims figure out that the killer is one of them; everyone scrambles to find out if there is a pattern in the murders. It’s quite evident that there is a specific order to the murders, a reason for the order, and a precise fit to the previous murders that each one of them committed. The order of the murders is gut wrenching. The first person to be murdered on the island is Anthony Marston, and ironically Vera Claythorne is the last to die.
Towards the end of the book, a quote shows that the man who actually kills the people on the island is choosing to kill them to serve justice whether they are
The readers learn that Wargrave is insane in the Manuscript at the end of the book, where Wargrave writes “I have a definite sadistic delight in seeing or causing death”(A Manuscript - Chapter 18). This quote shows that Wargrave was definitely someone insane. From what is known about Wargrave, a good epitaph that would represent him is “A hanging judge who enjoyed sentencing people for crimes that could not be proven.” A hanging judge comes from Wargrave’s exceedingly harsh punishments.
