Andrew ¨Old Hickory¨ Jackson was the President Of The United States that immediately followed John Quincy Adams. Jackson´s two term lasted from 1829 to 1837. He was an interesting child in his youth at the age of 13 he joined the Continental army. During the American Revolution he was captured, and after refusing to follow an order given by his captors was slashed with an officer's sword and would have succumbed to the wound if not for a prisoner exchange shortly after allowing him to receive medical treatment. What historical figure do you most identify with? The historical figure that I most identify with is the seventh president of the united states Andrew Jackson. He has inspired me in many ways and did amazing things when he was in office. One of the things that inspired me most about him was that when he was first born he lived in poverty and had nothing when he was a child.

The election of 1824, also called a corrupt bargain, was a hotly contested A picture showing who won each state and the amount of electoral votes allotted to each state one and the first one where the person who received the most popular votes and the most electoral votes lost the presidency. Many supporters of Andrew Jackson became outraged after he received the most popular vote, most electoral votes, but not enough votes from the house. Due to the fact that he had the most popular votes and electoral votes, Andrew Jackson surely should have gotten the most votes in the House, but that clearly wasn 't the case. One of the most remembered and significant American presidents was Andrew Jackson. He is remembered as a strong leader and a notable president. Although there have been many great leaders in American history, President Andrew Jackson was one of the main influential characters in the shaping of our nation. He was majorly shaped into the powerful leader that he is remembered today as by his participation in the military. He then served two terms as president, and is remembered today as a truly acclaimed president.

Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767, to Andrew and Elizabeth Jackson. His father Andrew Jackson, died three days before he was born. His mother traveled across the Appalachian mountains to bury his father, making his birthplace unknown. Jackson had two older brothers, Hugh and Robert. Hugh served in the revolutionary war, he died at the battle of Stono Ferry in 1779.

Jackson kicked his mount to a trot and rode out, leading the black horse. He joined the high street and followed it to the outskirts of town, where it became the road to the plains leading to the great castle of Baymore and his father. The night was bitter cold, but no snow fell yet, and the full moon shone bright, casting sharp blue shadows on the light frost that coated everything. Andrew Jackson, Is he a hero or a villain Since his presidency he has done many terrible things. Like the time his actions were what caused the wipeout of almost all the indians. His ratio of good and bad topples off on the bad side. Andrew Jackson is a villain. Due to Jackson 's actions there have been many consequences to people around him.

He ran for president four years prior and lost to John Quincy Adams, however, Jackson came back and ran a second time for president in the next election and redeemed himself by defeating Adams and taking his spot as president. Andrew Jackson came from poverty and worked his way to the top, becoming a young politician by 1812. In 1812 a war broke out between Britain and the United States. Jackson showed great leadership skills during this time and earned widespread fame as a military hero.

In the course of American history, many presidents have come and gone. Even some of our Founding Fathers, such as George Washington, became president. In Washington 's case, he was the first president and the one to pave the way for many U.S. presidents to come. They are remembered in text-books, journals, bibliographies, magazines, websites, and much more. Some of their faces are even plastered on our money.

The era of Andrew Jackson which was nicknames the era of the “common man” certainly lived up to its name. As the seventh President of the United States, Jackson had a major effect on the life of the common man, in such a way that the life of the common man would never be the same again. Jackson’s aim, after the manner in which he was defeated in the Presidential Election of 1824, despite receiving more popular votes than John Quincy Adams who took on the office, was to reduce the power and the authority of the elite. When he came into power after the 1828 election Jackson began to carry out his proposals. Jackson expanded the voting right to all men, in accordance with the Declaration of Independence of 1776 which declared that “all men are created equal” instead of just the elite.

However, he abused this position of power and made several choices that were detrimental to the welfare and rights of the American people. Jackson implemented the spoils system on a national scale and had unofficial members of his cabinet who did not have to answer to Congress. After South Carolinians were upset by the Tariff of 1832 he was angry toward those who did not agree with it. He also destroyed the National Bank and authorized the Specie Circular.

Andrew Jackson during his time was considered a very patriotic politician he hated the rich, he hated the Indian, and loved the idea of slavery. It has been said that he grew up not educated and had a bad up bring but still managed to get to a high political suture. Jackson at one point was general and had a very decorated portfolio, which made sense he would become president, Andrew was most well know for “The Battle of New Orleans” where Andrew Jackson, prevented the British Army and General Edward Pakenham, from seizing New Orleans nearing the end of that war.

Andrew Jackson has been remembered as a ground breaking president, even being put on the $20. President Jackson was a controversial figure, doing many popular and unpopular things in his time. Although he is remembered as a hero from the war of 1812, he also caused the Trail of Tears and tried to destroy the National Bank. As a result, Jackson should not be put on the $20 bill. His actions have caused many misfortune showing that villains do exist.

The time has come to make a judgement of the great Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States from 1829~1837. Although some people didn’t like Jackson very well due to very few of his decisions, he made many good decisions during his presidency. Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero of the common man due to his unifying leadership, generous approach of governing, and concern for economic equality. The first reason that Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero is because of his unifying leadership.
