Angela Davis: Fighting For Equality And Justice

Angela Davis is an African American activist-scholar and educator. She believes in prisoners’ rights and politics. Her life would be flipped upside down during a courthouse trail. Everything had went wrong when three black men open fire in front of authority. This had cause to lead some victims dead, injured, and kidnapped.

Frances Perkins was born in Boston Massachusetts on April 10, 1882 to father; Fred W. Perkins and mother; Susan E. Bean and died in New York, New York on May 14, 1965. During her lifetime she played a huge role on labor laws and women’s equal rights. Perkins was raised to value family first. She graduated from Worcester Classical High School in 1898. Then attended Mount Holyoke College.

Martin Luther King Jr. was known for his famous speech about equality, that is because his dream was standing up for civil rights. Activists are important people who are determined to fight for their cause to make the world a better and happier place. She failed a literacy test three times before becoming one of the very few black people registered to vote in the state. The Civil Rights Movement was Primarily evoked and influenced by Ms. Parks courageous and dangerous move because it inspires African Americans to rise up throughout all the hate and violence. A connection I can make to Ms. Parks courageous move is almost the same move that Katniss Everdeen made when she didn't want Peeta to die so she sacrificed wheels and him by threatening the capital that she was going to eat the poisonous berries along with peeta therefore not crowning a victor.

Rosa Parks Changes Racism in America Rosa Parks completely changed the face of racism in the United State. Rosa Parks sparked a positive change in racism by showing that she wouldn’t give up her seat for a white man. She knew her rights and what she wanted, so she inspired other black people to stand up for their rights. She truly changed racism in America. Rosa Parks was a good woman whose actions helped change America.

Although some people might argue that Shirley Chisholm does not demonstrate leadership qualities, a closer examination proves that the former congresswoman was a strong leader because of her independence, perseverance,and willingness to take risks. Shirley Chisholm is a great leader because she blazed a trail by being the first African American Congresswoman. For example, “Chisholm indulged her maverick nature in a spectacular gesture. She became the first black woman to run for president” (Morin pg1).This proves that she was the first black individual in her field to run for president so this makes her a trailblazer because all leaders should possess this for the reason that no leader can lead from behind.

She grew up to be a strong women who was in many civil right groups. She stood up for what she believed in. That is why her name is well known around the United States. She is most known for her actions on December 1, 1955. It was when she stood up to inequality by not giving up her seat to a white man.

In the past, African Americans were affected by racial discrimination. Today, racial discrimination is still not changing in the United States. One person that changed African Americans lives and our lives was Rosa Parks and Martin Luther KIng Jr. was also a person that changed people's lives. Finally, today racial equality hasn't really changed because some people have gotten hurt due to their race. In the past, there was many African Americans who were affected by racism.

Angela Davis is to be considered one of the most important political activists in African American culture. Davis was born on January 26th, 1944 in the deep south, more specifically, Birmingham, Alabama. Due to this, Davis was very susceptible to racial prejudice in her early years. She was also influenced by the idea of communism at a young age because her mother was actively involved with politics. Davis spent the majority of her early years as a scholar.

Rosa Parks along with many other African Americans fought for what they thought was right. Rosa and her husband, Raymond Parks, was a part of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and became the secretary until 1956(Rosa). Her job was to document discrimination cases to help with unfair trials against the colored, but most of the times were not successful. Their most famous case was the Scottsboro Boys who were nine black teenegers falsley accoused of raping two white women in 1931. “But we didn’t have too many successes in getting justice, it was more of the matter trying to challenge the powers that be, and to let it be known that we did not wish to be treated as second-class citizens.(Cohen)”

Rosa Parks is an example of how unfair African Americans were treated in the United States, and her fight in battles such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the Civil Rights Movement drove a plethora of others to join her side to change the way “colored people” were seen in America. Even as a child, Rosa Parks was met with memories of prejudices against black people.

She had not set out to be a leader but her actions made her
