Argument Essay: The American War For Independence

Thomas Jefferson wrote The Declaration of Independence to explain what the British did to make the colonists want to be independent. The document has 27 complaints that explain why the colonists want to break free. The three arguments that I chose were, For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us: For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever: For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent. These 3 out of 27 arguments that Thomas Jefferson stated in the Declaration of Independence played a huge role in proving the United States their independence.

During the 17th century, the American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain. They waged war for eight years to obtain their independence, but soon came to a dilemma. The generals and political leaders behind the Revolutionary War were now in charge of thirteen different colonies without a form of government to keep law and order. They were going to have General George Washington become their new leader, however they soon realized that was just like the British monarchy they just seceded from. The Fathers gathered in Pennsylvania to sit together a write a formal government.

All people were looking for freedoms, ones not ever having a chance of happening in Great Britain. Men, women, and African Americans were all seeking new and different types of freedoms than those provided in the land they had left or been forced to leave. The colonists had the goals of gaining their rights and freedoms in waging the Revolutionary War they were aiming for a republican political system and leaving behind monarchy systems as they had planned when first coming to the United States. England had called themselves a republic, but the king had so much control it did not fall under the category of a republic. England was a monarchy just as well as France and Spain were and this is exactly what they wanted to avoid in the United States (Document 1).

Throughout the history of the United States of America (U.S.A.; U.S.), many documents have been drafted with the purpose to maintain the stability and promote the growth of the U.S. However, before the U.S. was able to enact these documents of legislation, independence from King George III and Great Britain needed to be acquired first. Thus the forefathers which included among many others John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin contributed to the creation of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence along with America’s victory against Britain in the American Revolutionary War, were the means by which the U.S. was able to obtain their independence. Now an independent state, the people of the U.S. needed to own legislation to adequately govern themselves.

The Declaration of Independence is a symbol of the tribulations and adversities of the Revolutionary War that the colonists and the participants experienced to gain independence from Great Britain. Writing the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson had the ambition to set the colonies free of Britain’s tyrannical rule. They were creating a government for the new nation, and they declared that the colonies were no longer under British rule. The word equal means, “a person or thing considered to be the same as another in status or equality.” Not many people notice, but to this day, nationwide, everyone is still not viewed equally. Should people not be accepted by society based off of their race, ethnicity, sex and other things? Many states in the US have yet to legalize same-sex marriage because of the negative effects that come along with it, however people are only thinking about themselves and not about how damaging it can be to disapprove of it. The British government was not looking for the best of the people. They were only thinking about what they wanted; the government was not interested in what the people wanted so they decided to make decisions on their own, which resulted in changes that form the United States today. Because of this, they were justified in rebelling and declaring independence. One reason why the colonists decided to rebel and declare independence was because of taxation.

The United States of America has been through many wars, wars concerning many things such as land oil, pride and respect. However, when the United States went to war with Mexico, it was planned over greed. The Mexican- American war was a war provoked by the United States, in efforts to expand the coasts of the country. Mexico was a small underprivileged country who had previously to the war had already lost part of their country (Texas). Needless to say this war was cut throat and violent, it was however one of the smartest business decisions America has ever made.

What is America ? Early America was a formation of colonies formed into one united nation. The founding fathers of America shaped all of America 's ideas, and also structured the american democracy which is still present today. The American colonies now free from British rule could act freely and establish Their own new formation of Government, the declaration of independence, which separated them from British rule, and the Bill of rights.

Total war is essentially the mobilizing of every resource possible, to achieve domination over an enemy. This includes everything from human to material resources. I believe WWII was definitely a total war. This is due to the fact that each side created and produced deadly weapons to try and guarantee victory and anything that tried to interfere with that victory was subject to be terminated. For example, tanks became an innovation for strategically destroying enemy combatants, but sadly with the cost of innocent lives as well.

These founding documents are almost as common as the latest news of a celebrity. Many people are taught these documents all the way through their schooling career.
