The title of the picture I chose was The Good Shepard. It was a picture in chapter nine with an artist that is unknown. This picture took place in about 300AD. It was founded in one of the largest catacombs in Rome, the catacombs of Domitilla. when the sculpture was founded the legs were cut off, so those were restored by the Greeks at the time, so the sculpture stands about three feet tall. With that, the sculpture is made of marble, which is one of the most used stones in Rome at that time. To me the intended audience are the people who follow him to show that he, Jesus, carries his people no matter what happens and what follows. The purpose is that he is carrying the sheep by four of its legs as if he is rescuing the sheep or protecting it, which can act as symbolism of altruistic concern.
The theme behind this statue illustrates an Early Christian-era sculpture that shows a one of the many stories in the Bible, the story is in chapter ten of the book of John. It is showing an early and youthful picture of Jesus holding a sheep by all four legs around his neck. This statue symbolizes that he himself is the shepherd and the sheep represent the people who follow him, whom he will carry. Also when looking at the clothing that he is wearing, it is shown that it is late Hellenistic Roman

William gathered his men at Dives-sur-Mer in Normandy on August 4th,1066 by September 12th they set sail for Saint-Valery because it was a shorter sea-crossing. By the end of the year, William Duke won the battle and began his reign being King of England from 1066 till his death in

The sculpture is there to show in detail of Ray Lewis doing his last dance that was very famous during all home games as I said above. It has Lewis picking his right foot up in the air as he is looking up in the air and screaming. He is also holding
I decided to utilize the Gero Crucifix, this basically represents the crucifixion of Jesus in a life size scale and also made out of gold. It is very interesting the design and style that this particular artwork showcases, I like the idea of utilizing gold for its creation, not only because of the color but also because we have always seen gold as something almost very strange to have in our possession because of its money value; therefore, I think gold is a material that we could consider almost godly or magic, almost like diamond or emerald, and this potentially creates a strong connection with this particular piece of artwork because it is certainly related to Jesus and religion itself, which, most of the times makes us relate any artwork
For the remaining years of his life he was at war against his barons and France, He died in 1216 and his son, Henry ∣∣∣, ascended the
January 1066 was a time of chaos for medieval England. There were three people claiming the throne for themselves, and the result changed Europe forever. There was Harold Godwinson, the most powerful noble in England, who claimed that the king had promised to him the throne at the last minute, as he lay dying. There was William, Duke of Normandy, whom Edward had been friends with since they were children. Lastly, there was Harald Hadraada, a Norwegian noble who was given a claim to the English throne by King Magnus of Norway.
( Honour, p 14) The monk, a symbol of purity, could be the reason he painted the scene this way. At the moment the painting was being produced, The Crimean War was battled between Russia and France about the Russian Orthodox versus the Roman Catholic over privileges of churches in holy places in Palestine. (Britannica.com)Also during this time, The Second Empire of Napoleon was in process and education was being fought over between the state and
On this sculpture there are carvings that features putti holding a round frame which is a portrait of a man located in the
Many different factors contributed to William’s win; however, I believe that the most important was strategy. I believe that tactics were the most important because the Normans would not have won if they didn’t lure the English away from their position on top of the hill To me the second most important factor of William’s success was skill as, had William’s army not been skillful, their attack would not have been as effective because the archers were there to soften
Symbolism is displayed from top to bottom within the figure itself. These symbols are meant to spread the statue’s message not only in America but all over the world. For example, the seven points on the crown exemplify the seven seas and continents around the globe. It emphasizes that liberty should be dispersed universally and shared among all people (Source D). Along with the idea of liberty and freedom is where the torch also makes its mark.
The piece of media that I chose is from a song that I have been listening to lately. Where a part of the lyrics spoke of sinners gathering together to find meaning in their lives before their time has come. It relates to how Jesus is friend with sinners as he gathers them together to present them will a new perspective that is forgiveness of their sins and a sense of purpose in their lives. Additionally, the song called Sinners by Barns Courtney, he is an English songwriter and singer.
One angle is also bearing the symbols of the crucifixion like the lance Christ was stabbed with and the crown of thorns. The top part of the painting as a very calming and gentle tone to it. Both panels show Jesus but they look like two different people. On the left he 's lifeless, has no clothes on and seems weak. The middle ground between heave and hell is small.
It is a painting by William Henry Powell. It was about the Committee of Congress at Valley Forge. The painting shows how sick and poor
The other panel on the West wall of the altar has caused some recent debate. Originally thought to be a depiction from a scene from Virgil’s Aeneid, when Aeneas sacrificed a pig and her 30 piglets to Juno, now entertains the possibility of depicting Numa Pompilius, the Roman king associated with Peace and the Gates of Janus. Either scene can still be attributed to Augustan propaganda because like the previous panel, the scene being shown is acting as either a nod to
It is an incense burner illustrating the satyr, Marsyas, flayed for a display of hubris. On the leg of Marsyas is the engraving “suthina” transforming it into a funerary offering and leading Art Historians to accept that it was not intended to for use by the living. This mythological convention reoccurs in the bronze piece Chariot. Chariot has mythological depictions theorized to be of the ancient hero Achilles. Despite its extravagance it is unlikely that it was put to use until its burial with the deceased.
However as the name of the fresco suggest it gives a crucial clue on the intend subject by Masaccio the trinity or three in one, or one God with three entities (Kloss, Lecture 13, 25:40) God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God the Son is the most noticeable for both Christian and Non-Christians alike in the literal form of Jesus Christ. God the Father is not quite as noticeable but the uniqueness of the perspective of the divine man in the foreground brings out an aura that he is occupying both spaces and logically God the Father is the only divine figure that could be in two places at once (Kloss, Lecture 13 25:31). Even more ambiguous is God the Holy Spirit, which is traditionally seen as a dove through out the holy texts; God the Holy Spirit can be overlooked easily since it is found with wings outstretched in front of God the father, it almost looks like it is a part of his robe or perhaps a white shirt or
