The Articles of Confederation (A.o.C.) was the official government for the United States after independence from Britain. This government was weak, and ineffective. It could not fix the nation's problems which prompted a call for change. The men that changed this government are known are the founding fathers. The founding fathers attended a convention that would be known as our constitutional convention.

The Articles of Confederation was the first American constitution. The Articles was a form of government that had strong state government and a weak central government. This form of government was extremely flawed due to the lack of power in the central government. The power of the national government was limited in the Articles of Confederation. The U.S Constitution has three branches of government, a Legislature branch, and Executive branch, and a Judiciary branch.

Constitution gave the federal government the accurate control trade and commerce at the international levels as well as the interstate level. The Articles of Confederation was adopted in 1781 and the conscripting of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 this was one of the flaw, rebellion, and disorder period. Under the Articles of Confederation there was no provisions made for them to enforce laws or interpret them. The Articles of Confederation was lastly ratified in March 1787 by the thirteen states. The Articles of Confederation provided the Congress with authorizing to declare war, create peace, coin money, assign officers for army, control the post office, and convert agreements with Indian clans.

The Articles of Confederation was one of the first known documented Constitutions in the United States History made by the well-known man by the name of Benjamin Franklin. The Articles were made based on certain events during The Revolutionary War. . That purpose of this plan was to

Stemming from wartime urgency, its progress was slowed by fears of central authority and extensive land claims by states before was it was ratified on March 1, 1781. Under these articles, the states remained sovereign and independent, with Congress serving as the last resort on appeal of disputes. Congress was also given the authority to make treaties and alliances, maintain armed forces and coin money. However, the central government lacked the ability to levy taxes and regulate commerce, issues that led to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 for the creation of new federal laws.

There is much to be said about our nation’s tumultuous beginning under the Articles of Confederation. It was such a dark and doubtful time that the historian John Fiske called it the “critical period”. America was beset with an abundance of political problems during the years of 1781 to 1789. Critical, as defined by the Merriam Webster, is: “being in or approaching a state of crisis”. This is very fitting and a great word to define the situation America was in.

The Article of Confederation was the first American Constitution. The central government was not strong and getting the system organize made it stronger. In 1777, the Continental Congress allowed each state to have their own independence. The Department of State had three employees and they were men.

The ratification of the constitution was a long process that required trial and error. It all began with The Articles of Confederation. This was the first constitution of the United states that was implemented shortly after the Revolutionary War. At the time, America was not confident on what type of government they sought. For one, the Articles provided the country with a functioning government, but were unable to enforce many laws.

The Article of Confederation is the America’s first written constitution, which was written by the continental congress. The Article of Confederation was ratified in 1781 until the adoption of the constitution in 1789. Although the Article of Confederation and constitution were two of the most prominent document to manifest during the American revolution, this Article of Confederation gave way for a better and stronger government. The two documents were both created by the same people. These two documents shaped the U.S government into what it is today.

Following the Revolutionary War, America had just gained independance from Great Britain and needed to form a new government. The Articles of Confederation were established as an attempt to create a government that was unlike Britain’s. Unfortunately, the Articles of Confederation had several weaknesses. When in the process of repairing those weaknesses, the Federalists and the Anti-federalists formed. The Articles of Confederation were very weak as well as useless to America and because of this, the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists could not agree on a new type of government.

The Articles of Confederation were a document seen as the “first” constitution of the United States. This document granted the new national government power to control the military, declare war, and create treaties between the states. However, the Articles had holes in it considering the government did not have the power to tax, create laws without at least nine states’ approval, or change the Articles of Confederation without a unanimous vote. This means that the country soon fell into debt and petty arguments between state, the new government had no control. It was time for a change.

During 1787, there was major controversy over the Articles of Confederation. To fix the controversy, the founding fathers of America came up with the Constitution to help resolve the issues. The Constitution was ratified on June 21, 1788; it provided a new central government, laws, and certain basic rights for the American people. Many of the ideas in the Constitution were influenced by French Enlightenment thinkers such as Thomas Hobbes, Montesquieu, Rousseau, and John Locke. Thomas Hobbes influenced the American Constitution in many ways.

The Articles of Confederation was an agreement among the thirteen original states of the United States that served as the first constitution. The Articles had first been introduced by Richard Henry Lee in the Second Continental Congress. Although the Articles of Confederation has made its contributions throughout history, the Articles, however, did not last very long and had been proven inadequate from the very start. I agree with this statement based on the examples and analysis of the Constitution I will soon provide. The Articles of Confederation were written during a time when the American people feared a strong national government.

The Articles of the Confederation was the first government constitution that the United States used, and, although there were strength like the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, there were major weaknesses of the Articles of the Confederation like the following: requiring 9 out of the 13 colonial votes from the representatives from different states to pass a law; having no executive and judicial branch; and the federal government being unable to impose tax revenue onto the states. Such flaws would eventually lead to the Constitution and the repeal of the articles, for the Constitution was a measure to fix the problems of the articles with a stronger government that allowed them to impose taxes and and implement new laws for a more effective government.
