Blue Skin of the Sea takes place on The Big Island of Hawaii during 1953-1966. The story focuses on a boy named Sonny Mendoza who lost his mother when he was born. His father is always gone because of his job being a fisherman. Sonny stays with his Aunty Pearl and his cousin Keo which he is somewhat of a bully. The stories in this book show Sonny grow up as he has to face several different challenges.

This essay is about the ancient Blackfoot Indians. This is the way the Blackfoot Indians met their food need. The men hunted buffalo, and small game like ground squirrels, nuts, berries, and steamed camas roots. The ancestors of the Blackfoot Indians was living in buffalo-hide tepees. Since the Blackfeet moved frequently to follow the buffalo herd so the tepees had to be specially designed to set up and break down quickly.

He became a privateer, which were legal pirates, during Queen Anne’s war. Once the war was over, many men were left with no jobs and some became pirates, including Edward.

The Blackfoot tribe The blackfoot tribe was located Alberta, Canada and northern Montana. About 8,000 Indians lives in the U.S and Canada. Because they lived there, they were called “Niitsitapi” meaning “Original people. ”They were the indian tribe that migrated from the Great Lakes region.

In the Late 1800s, there was an era called the Jim Crow Era. Jim Crow was a character that was created in 1863 by white men to amuse white people. This character began to grow to symbolize one of the most tragic events in American history, known as, racism. African-Americans would become slaves simply because they were African-American in 1865. Even though, we do not have slaves in today’s society, we do still see some rippling affects from the Jim Crow Era.

For starters, I was born in the greatest country in the world, best state in the country, and raised in the most perfect city with the best environment possible because of my parents. The place I am describing -the place I call home- is Brownsville, Texas. While many people would argue that Brownsville is not the best place to raise a family because of poverty levels, low income, illegal aliens, poor schools, and our close proximity to Mexico However, all of these factors have actually helped shape me into who I am today. In addition, my parents were also born and raised here in Brownsville, Texas hence, they are both products of our local public school system BISD that is largely criticized.

Why should it matter if whites, blacks, Mexicans, or any other “colored” people are in the same area or building at the same time? It shouldn 't matter, but in the beginning of the 1800 's in the Southern United States, there was not a worse law you could break as a white man. It was thought to be unclean and unlawful. Even the simplest things like eating in the same restaurant, using the same public bathroom, schools, even using the same hospitals was highly forbidden. Blacks were treated poorly, harassed, given a lot less opportunities than whites, and even assaulted.

If Madison High School students were asked, “What is a Bronco?”, they might say a redneck, a hick, or a kid that goes to Blackfoot. When I am asked “What is a Bronco?” , the answer is simple--I am a Bronco, most of my friends are Broncos, my teammates are Broncos and the student body at Blackfoot High School are Broncos. We are each unique, but when our strengths and talents are combined as a whole, the Blackfoot Broncos are amazing.

The people from Africa were generally part of early American history; however, Africans had experience slavery under better conditions compared to the conditions imposed by other civilized society. The “Black-Eyed Women” The short story “Black-Eyed Women” is within the book The Refugees, written by Viet Thanh Nguyen. The characters throughout the short story share similar qualities as the undead. This being said, the 38-year-old Vietnamese refugee is the narrator of the short story who works as a ghostwriter; who has lived in silence with her mother for a good amount of time. The idea of a ghost’s embodiment is proven through the ultimate struggle one may face during catastrophic periods.
