I’ll be talking about a book called “Night” it's about a jewish boy who goes threw the holocaust with his father. I will be talking about how food was a big part throughout the book and how they struggle to get it and how they use it to get thing or they give things to get it. In the beginning of the book it talks about how food is a big part but in the beginning it didn’t seem to hard in fact it talks about how each and every day they had bread and soup for the day. In the book it almost sounded easy to get it but it also talks about how they had to work to get the food they had. Luckily for Elie and his family in the ghetto his father was quite a big person or was very well known in the ghetto community. So this is an advantage because his family was able to get it easier because people would trade food to get advice from elie’s father. In the book it even talks about how Elie’s uncle had left to somewhere and his uncle had left food because it wasn’t needed. …show more content…
It first starts to become hard when elie’s family went to the concentration camp. But in the camp elie’s mother and sister ended up dieing because the Germans had no need for them and they germans weren't able to work them as hard. In the begining of them coming to the camp they were being fed quite well for being in a concentration camp at this time they were fed bread and soup for lunch and dinner but slowly through them being at the camp called “auschwitz” they were slowly being fed less and less portions so throughout it he was given just bread at one point in the middle then it went to just soup but the portions was littler and littler. In the book it talked about having a selection were the germans would pick the weak out of the strong . you would think this would give the living jews more food but in the case it is not true they were actually give less
His father, Shlomo Wiesel, becomes very weak while in Auschwitz, and Elie has to take extra care of him. Shlomo nearly starves Elie by taking his daily rations of food and is in constant need of Elies rescue, making him more of a burden than a help. When Shlomo, Elie’s father, first becomes sicker (and weaker) Elie starts to give him extra portions of his own food.
The death march in Night by Elie Wiesel is started when all the prisoners were forced to leave the camp that they were at and relocate to a new camp. The night was very cold and snowy, and Elie’s foot was already hurt because of some pus that was in it. His only choice was to go on with the march on a hurt foot or stay in the camp and probably die anyways. He decided to go on the march because he wanted to be with his father and he didn’t want to die helplessly. At around six at night, the entire camp lines up in formation and they all started marching block by block.

The book called “Night” is a great book to read about survival of the fittest. The book was written by a man named Elie Wiesel and was about his experience during the Holocaust. His book has some interesting parts about how he and other Jews saw the Holocaust before and after they were taken to concentration camps. Before the Jews were taken to the camps, they thought that since the war was so far away and was going to end soon, they were safe. That soon changed because they had the chance to run and hide, but did not take it.

Simone Rosson Ms. Ahonen English 1301 1st period 22 October 2015 Night Night, is an autobiography by Elie Wiesel about the tragic events he endured during the Holocaust. Wiesel was one of the very few who survived the horrid times of the Holocaust. He was stationed in Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the very well known camps. Though he was starving and desired food more than anything, Eli understood that his father needed it more. He chose to give his tiny ration of food, to his beloved father, putting his own health at risk. After his father’s death Eli admits that deep down he felt relieved. He never let his actions depict how he was feeling inside, the love that he had for his father suppressed the fate that turned so many good men to act in evil ways. Though beaten and scared, Eliezer escaped the atrocities of man that involved “survival of the
Eventually the SS initiated the ghettos, fenced off areas inhabited by the captive Jews. The ghettos were more-the-less governed by Jews, with supervision of the SS, this gave them slightly more freedom in these small communities. In the ghettos, life slowly returned to "normal", children would be playing games and people would be walking down the streets carefree. But of course something bad happens, and Elie's father is called into a meeting. Once his father emerges back into the crowd, he tells them all one word,
Mr.Wiesel wanted to survive the Holocaust with his family, but they were separated and he was luckily left with Elie and they stayed alive for a long time during the Holocaust, so through the years Mr.Wiesel survived a long time for the reason of his son and wanting to survive the genocide with his family, then they went through some life threatening events but they were still fighting to survive. The author wrote and stated “My father swallowed my ration” (Wiesel 50). Based on this, I can infer that Elie was helping Mr.Wiesel build up strength by feeding him his ration, also wanted his father to eat his rations for the sake of not wanting to lose his father. In the same way, Mr.Wiesel would have done the same thing and fed Elie his rations.

Bread in Night Bread, you may not think of it, but in the book Night, it becomes crucial through the events. In Night, the word “bread” was used multiple times throughout the book.
