Sons of liberty led over 40 protests up and down the colonial coastline in 1765 to 1766. Most of the protests are located in the middle colonies up through the New England colonies. They Successful in forcing the British parliament to repeal the stamp act in march 18, 1766. February 10, 1763 Treaty of Paris (French and Indian War) The end of the war has come. The seven years war started by the British declaring war against France. The French had been expanding into the Ohio Valley creating conflict amongst the countries. With the signing of the treaty France lost a lot of land.
Many people objected to the tax as well to the writs of assistance that enforced them. After all the rebellion that happened in the colonies, parliament decided to repeal all the taxes on items the Townshend act taxed. The Boston massacre was such a terrible day the people of Boston had a huge fight with the British which left many dead. This happened because the people of Boston thought with all the British soldiers around they thought that they would be in danger from the British soldiers.
In dire need of paying off war debt, the British Parliament decided to tax the colonists due to the debt being their fault. Along with taxing the colonists, the East India Company boosted the income for the Parliament and benefited the George III by hurting the colonists economically by enacting the tea act. Blending “lethal politics, personalities, and economics”3 the American Revolution was bound to happen between the colonists and British, having little supporters of the idea of war. With the tension build up between the colonists and British Parliament, the Boston Tea Party occurred with the colonists rebelling against the Parliament’s political decision towards the colonists, symbolizing the starting point for a revolution and a step

The colonist soldiers were not given the same treatment as those who were from Britain, despite being promised the equal treatment. This pushed the colonists further into the feeling that they needed to protest and go against the British for their unfair treatment. The immense amount of taxes placed upon the colonists angered them even more and caused them to attempt to appeal such actions. One colonist, Benjamin Franklin, agreed that “the Stamp Act… we [propose] to get it repeal’d” (Document F). Once again the there was pushback from the colonists to lessen British interference in the colonies, so that they could be more independent.
“Boston settled uncomfortably into a period of relative calm time. However, passions were to be inflamed again by the Tea Party Act of 1773.” (Boston Massacre Trials) The Tea Act, passed by Parliament on May 10, 1773, granted the British East India Company Tea a monopoly tea sales in American colonies. This was what ultimately compelled a group of Sons of Liberty members on the night of December 16, 1773 to disguise themselves as Mohawk Indians, board three ships in Boston Harbor, and destroy over 92,000 pounds of tea.
As the colonists defiantly stopped buying British goods and paying the accompanying taxes on them, the colonists felt more powerful and this sense of power spread revolutionary excitement. Regular, everyday colonists could be part of these colonial protests. The nonimportation agreements were enforced by the Sons of Liberty and the Daughters of Liberty. “The Sons of Liberty [wanted] to force all of the British stamp agents to resign and also stop many American merchants from ordering British trade goods.” Interestingly enough, the Sons of Liberty still proclaimed loyalty to the King as they only had a problem with Parliament.
These actions took away a lot of rights of the colonists in Boston. This resulted in Boston colonials to start spreading the word that “If Britain can do this to Boston today, other colonies could be the next tomorrow.” With this mentality, the colonists began to organize small revolts that would eventually lead up to the American revolution. Because of the actions of the colonists, the British government's attitude on the event of the Boston tea party was that someone must pay. Because of the buildup and animosity that the Greenville acts gained from the colonists, it was easy to see why the colonists displayed so much distaste for the other tax acts that followed to Greenville and tea acts.
This affected people with those provisions the most because they had to buy stamped paper from London. This paper also had to be purchased using British currency, which was rarer than the colonial paper currency. This led to calls for greater self-governance and eventually to the American Revolution. Lastly, this era was affected socially. Protests directed toward the act brought colonists together from
The Sons of Liberty The Sons of Liberty was an organization consisting of American colonists. They rose in the August of 1765. This society was created to protect the rights of the American colonists and fight the taxation by the British government. A couple notable members were Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Paul Revere. The Sons of Liberty played a huge role in contesting against the Stamp Act.
In our history there have been many wars, revolutions, and consequences to all of these things, such as lives lost or land being destroyed but it was all worth it when they succeeded and got what they wanted, freedom. Many countries go through revolutions because they might have been under rule from another person and or country and wanted their independence. A revolution is when people overthrow a social order or even a government and are in favor of a new system or government. The American Revolution and Haitian Revolution had some similarities and some differences and this is what my argument will be about, comparing and contrasting both revolutions.
The Founding Fathers rebelled against the British government for good reasons, which led to the American Revolution in 1783. The Founding Fathers were justified in rebelling against the Britain because the government was not protecting the rights of the citizens, taxing the colonists, and forced them to house British soldiers. In 1756 Britain put the first tax on the colonists. This was the Stamp Act, it required colonists to pay taxes on certain items such as newspapers, legal documents, licenses, and even playing cards.
On the night March 5th, 1770, the Boston Massacre occurred. It took place during the enforcement of the unpopular taxation by British troops. One of the main reasons why the British troops were there was for the enforcement of taxation of the colonists, for example, The Stamp Act. These acts required Americans to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. The colonists were furious because they had no say in whether the Stamp Act should pass or not.
Britain needed a way to fix this. They came up with the Sugar Act, a set of taxes to help Britain raise money. Taxes were not a new thing for the colonists, but these new taxes caused big issues. The Sugar Act was suggested by Prime Minister George Greenville.
The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770, between a “patriot”. They were throwing sticks, snowballs, and trash at a group of British troops. The loyalists got very annoyed with the patriots so they shot into the mob killing five. The riot began when around 50 colonists attacked a British sentinel. A British officer called in for additional troops
