Jack's Influence On Lord Of The Flies

At the end of the book, Jack has become a beast at heart who lusts for blood and blood alone. Jack and Ralph get into an argument for the right to use Piggy's glasses to cook the meat that they hunt. Jack starts to get violent and they start fighting each other for the glasses. In an act of trying to stop the fight, piggy grabs the conch shell to get the attention of everyone and tell them to stop fighting. Soon after the hunters notice Piggy, they push a boulder off a mountain to kill piggy.

In the novel Lord of the Flies, Golding uses many quotes and Imagery to represent nature of mankind and society. Golding uses lots of analogies to try to foreshadow you about the real life. Throughout the book Golding uses many of the character and the setting to really make the point go across the whole story. As the story is told you begin to think humans are inherently good but nature and other people can turn you evil. In the beginning of the story jack is trying to get the group together to form so type of group which really means they are trying to set up a government.

Throughout the entirety of William Golding's novel “Lord of the Flies” the boys on the island change every day, and overtime they are becoming savages. When all the boys first met, they all relatively liked one another, and there were no serious grudges. However, near the end of the novel, the boys split up and hated each other, which evolved into violence and even murder. Especially Jack who ends up becoming an evil ruler controlling everyone and torturing them for no reason.

In the book “Lord of the Flies” Jack isn’t the only one that started the destruction of the island but in my point of view the ultimate cause is Jack is the main cause of the destruction of the island the one that led to the destruction he is careless that only cares about himself and that wants to be the one everyone listens to the one everyone looks up to. In the beginning Jack has always had that ruthless look in him,that feeling of evil I mean he had red hair kinda symbolize as a devil,he saw himself powerful when he sees weak in people he takes advantage of them and makes fun of it without even realizing. Jack tries to discredit him by calling a meeting about the beast and turning the tables to say some negative things about Ralph which means that Jack is ignoring the rules of society and going rogue, evil to say in his voice. “Yes. What would you do if you went on a plane with your coworkers or school peers and crashed on a deserted island? Amid a raging war, a plane evacuating a group of schoolboys crash on a deserted island. First, the boys enjoy their life without grownups and spend much of their time playing games and splashing in the water. Ralph wants the schoolboys to help take care of the need for survival. Jack says that Ralph is a coward and that he should be removed from the leadership.

Jack’s arrogant and spiteful attitude with the rest was very well known in the beginning. Jack’s touch with civilization has diminished as time went on and he turned into a wild savage, with an “animal-like” personality. “‘I ought to be chief,’ said Jack with simple arrogance, ‘because I’m chapter chorister and head boy. Ralph screamed of fright and anger and desperation. His legs straightened, the screams became continuous and foaming.” ( Golding 221). When Jack has finally had enough of Ralph he decides that the best option is to hunt him and kill him. He gathered his tribe and they make up a plan.

The Lord of the Flies, A book by William Golding, was influenced greatly by the surroundings of the author. His surroundings affected his logic, his emotions, and his credibility. Because of the outside influence he was recorded as saying, “...man produces evil as a bee produces honey...”. In this quote he is stating that all a human will ever do is cause and create evil. I will go over how his pathos, logos, and ethos about governments affected his writing and the characters differences in governments.

Which is about a group of young boys that are marooned on an island for quite some time and have to make their own society. Ralph steps up as the leader of the boys but later on in the book, the position is taken by Jack which turns chaotic. The chaos leads to many problems within the group of boys. In the book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, it is shown that individuals make up society, Jack’s tribe shows this by controlling the boys with his beliefs, and making up his own rules that break the initial ones, although, the opposing side may say that society shapes the individuals. Beliefs are important in creating a society because it can organize the members values, however Jack does it tyrannically.

The longing for it separates the limits set by guidelines and request, causes conflict and rivalry, and oversees the activities of large portions of the boys on the island. Once accomplished, power can either enhance or degenerate its holder. In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, the characters Ralph, Jack, and Piggy have influenced the group, some more than others. Their influences are both negative and positive; some even changed the others personality or perspectives entirely.

Through examination of Lord of the Flies, Golding seems to share this point of view. When left in an environment lacking authority, the boys attempt to follow the fundamental rule of nature, electing Ralph as their leader and for a time, following his rules. However, when another boy desired the same position, competition arose and Ralph was revealed to be less powerful and disrespected by the group. Jack found his power in feeding off the other boys’ fears, and using violent, animalistic techniques, which proved to be what they truly desired. War broke out between the two, as Hobbes predicted would happen in such circumstances, and morality was only restored when a powerful figure of authority finally arrived on the island.

The want for power strengthens and his hunger increases, but what he was unaware of was the fact that he was destroying his own mind. He was brainwashed by his surroundings to think that in that situation, it was acceptable. Jack’s evilness has officially broken everyone's norms on the island. Jack has changed greatly, over the course of William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies. Crashing onto an island without adults and having to survive put a strain on all of the boys, but Jack’s personality altered the most due to this experience. He went from living as an ambitious choir boy, to being a vicious, brutal, beast. Many things changed Jack on the island, but most of all, he created the monster he became.
