Civil disobedience is an act or exercise that is employed so that change through direct or indirect action is taken in order to seize the attention of immoral objective found within a situation. The African Americans living in Chicago used this by exhibiting the civil movements through their visual art and music. The time period in which their art influences took place was during the Harlem Renaissance of 1920’s through 1930’s.
Civil disobedience is not only the breaking of a law, but also defiance of moral code. In the famous play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare , the story depicts two lovers in Verona, Italy who are torn apart by a feud that forces them to meet their end. Holding their grudge, the Montagues and Capulets express too much pride to let the feud go. The downfall of the couple is caused by a chain of reaction of broken rules and ultimately results in the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
Acting civil, but disobedient, is a way to non-violently protest things you believe to be unfair. Henry David Thoreau wrote an essay called “Civil Disobedience” which has been used by many such as Martin Luther King Jr. to help fight injustice. King was a pastor and renowned speaker who headed the Civil Rights movement. Dr. King's “Letter from Birmingham Jail” was based on concepts he read in Thoreau's “Civil Disobedience”. While both writers discuss ways to be civil yet disobedient, they convince the readers in opposite ways.

These laws are normally put in place by a government or authority. The Little Rock Nine were 9 African American students who attended an all-white high school in 1957. This action challenged the Brown V.S. The Board of Education which made segregation illegal anywhere but somehow in many places in the south the segregation continued.
Dolores Huerta advocated for the farm workers by using civil disobedience to attract the government's attention, which led to a strike, so they were able to gain equality and get paid more. I would say the concept of this is about a nonviolent act that changes the law or the government's policy. We can also say it's when you're refusing to obey the law in a peaceful manner. In other words, I would say that civil disobedience is when you're refusing to pay your taxes or fines to the government. People that also experienced this were Henry David Thoreau, Dolores Huerta, Larry Itliong, Martin Luther King Jr., and Cesar Chavez.

In the early 1900’s women were treated lower than men, they were abused, and were not given the right to vote. Women’s rights to own property, and take part in politics were violated. For instance, African-Americans believe they are experiencing prejudice from “white” people. In Baton Rouge, Louisiana there a revolt organized by the infamous “Black Lives Matter” organization.

Civil Disobedience is an important moral responsibility of a citizen, however it should not get to the level of illegal activity under any circumstances, because great reform can be brought peacefully not violently. In the title named "On Civil Disobedience" by Mohandas K. Ghandi once said: “No country has ever become or will ever become, happy though victory in war”(Mohandas K. Gandhi , 148). Even that long ago, when war was at high, and people embraced it, he knew that the only thing war brought was death, and depression among civilians. This method of civil disobedience has only resulted into more wars, and no real solutions. The most efficient way to the be civilly disobedient is to be peaceful, but willing to stand up for your cause.
