Persuasive Essay 2 Good coaches are always known for their quotes. Coaches have that drive, same as their students, when it comes to sports. Sports are a big thing in the U.S. (United States) because so many people get hyped even if they are not in the game. Playing sports is almost like battling in a war especially in football. Without it he or she would be lost. Let’s face it, there could be more teen pregnancies if there were no sports. It almost keeps he or she checked, making sure that the individual won’t do something drastically. How could anyone live without sports ? I know couldn’t. Well...I actually could because I have God on my side but that is a different discussion. A famous football coach stated that, “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.”, which can be agreed through facts through sports, jobs, and life circumstances. Although …show more content…
It is really wonderful when he or she gets married for the first time; however, two years down the road, and that can change. They lost that interest in each other because they are not making each other the “only thing”. The statement can benefit a person and how they deal with their family. Family should always come first because family is what will help he or she when they are down. Again, family should be the “only” or top priority. This is why “winning is everything, it is they only thing”. The coach, when he said his message, probably only thought that the quote meant one thing, but in fact, it meant a lot of other things. It shows how people can deal with relationships; it reveals how people will react on a job; it opens up how he or she’s life will turn out. Sports teach you to never give up. Being an entrepreneur Mr. Carreker has gone through some tough times financially. He never gave up. He continued to do what he loved and was able to make a career out of it. I really enjoyed this speech because I can relate to sports and how a sport is just a game, but it teaches you so many life lessons while you are
In coaching, most are measured by their wins and losses. For many that is all they see. But some, even those who achieve the pinnacle of success, winning isn't everything, it's just a product of the process. Super Bowl Champion Coach Tony Dungy is the perfect picture of sports being much more about life than the competition itself. His desire to win was deep and passionate, but his desire to grow young men into great men was deeper and stronger.
In his book "Remember Why You Play," David Thomas tells moving tales of coaches, players, and parents who teach readers important lessons about sportsmanship and character. The book places a strong emphasis on the idea that, in sports, playing well is more important than really succeeding. Beyond the world of sports, the lessons given in the book are both insightful and useful. " Remember Why You Play" emphasizes the value of sportsmanship, which is one of the main lessons to be learned. Thomas emphasizes throughout the book that being a good sport, rather than just winning, is the key to real sporting success.
With speeches and books, Cohn has also developed “personal evaluation sheets” for players to fill out and work towards understanding their mental process after success and failure. Through the worksheets, it is commonly found that players who are more demanding on themselves after a failure tend not to be as excited when success happens. Giving the thought process of “expectation instead of success.” When a player is so wrapped up in failure, the thought process of what success looks like can diminish. Giving the player no true satisfaction with success but the feeling that they met what is
Authors often use persuasive techniques such as Ethos, Pathos, and Logos to help support the claim being made. In the articles “Position on Dodgeball in Physical Education,” by The National Association for Sport and Physical Education, and “The Weak Shall Inherit the Gym,” by Rick Reilly, both authors focus on using persuasive techniques to make claims about the relevance of dodgeball in physical education. To begin, in the article “Position on Dodgeball in Physical Education” the National Association for Sport and Physical Education uses Ethos and Pathos to support their claim on why Dodgeball should be banned from schools. For instance, when trying to explain the purpose of PE, the author states, “NASPE believes that dodgeball is not an

Next, she gave some schools ' examples to show the problems when schools and students spent too much time and money in high-school sports.
It’s not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference - Bear Bryant. Many different sports are in this world, including soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, but two sports I enjoy watching are rugby and American football. Two sports that so many people love in this world. When you think of football you think of your favorite team. When you think of rugby you can’t think of anything because not many people in the USA watch it or play it.
Tim O’ Shei says that sports could benefit students with grades, homework, and classwork. According to the text, “No Sports Are More Important than Ever”, “When you
(112 words) As much as God can be an inspiration to keep fighting, family and close ones can act as one as well. This is the entire premise of team sports. Not playing well and letting down one’s teammates is a catastrophic result in any team sport. Additionally, this can also be a reason to train vigorously.
Coaches In sports, coaches are a big factor in the team’s success. Coaches are there to support the team and help them learn about the game. A coach makes the plays and tells the team members when to sub. Most athletic events will not let the team participate without a coach, they would have to forfeit.
In high school, students have many opportunities to participate in athletic events. One of the most popular sports offered in high school across the United States is football. The list of life lessons the sport can teach is prolonged. Most people think that the long days and nights spent participating in high school football “pay off” after realizing the abilities they gained. High school football has the ability to transform irresponsible and unfocused students into responsible and perseverant athletes.
Coaches tend to live beneath a false sense of security that their only responsibility is to further the athletic capabilities if their players both individually, and collectively. This thought that coaches have no obligation to defend their athletes’ mental, and physical safety is absurd. Coaches are not simply caretakers of players, but of people, and therefore hold a moral and legal duty to create a safe environment of play, in order to prevent, and protect their athletes from serious head trauma, or other sports related injuries. Many believe that it is solely medical professionals’ jobs to keep athletes safe, while the majority of sports-world believes that this responsibility is shared among multiple different influences in
