As a young adult, I get asked this question quite often, “why is your college education so important to you?”. Throughout the years I have explained it differently each time as I have matured as an adult. There are probably a million reasons why college education is imperative, but I will narrow it down to the top three most important reasons why college is so important to me. The number one reason my college education is so necessary to me is because I am blessed with the opportunity to be a role model for my child. Another reason why college education is important to me is because it opens a whole new world of opportunities and experiences in life, I want to leave myself with many options when it comes to life choices.

For many people, college is an important key for their future. Some people go to college for the job opportunities and the new windows it can open. Others go just for the education and experience. A good education is beneficial from many different viewpoints; in truth, it is a possibility that one's adult life could be much harder than people care to think. One can have better wealth, is less likely to be unemployed, and a much higher chance of being closer to your family.

When most people begin their high school education, they do so thinking about the opportunity of going to college and receiving a higher education. Attending universities began in 1636 when Europeans arrived to America and founded ‘New College’ (later renamed Harvard University). These Europeans created nine universities that still exist: Harvard, College of William & Mary, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth, Rutgers and the University of Pennsylvania. As the school system was not yet established most people attending universities were young boys.
