Compare And Contrast The Election Between 1800 And 2016

During these few weeks democrats and Republicans Who are running for president were engaged in a battle to win the Iowa caucus. The state of Iowa hosted the first official vote of the 2016 campaign. During the Iowa caucus, different tactics and strategies were used by both parties to gain votes, through the use of persuasion ,repugnant comments, and the use of the media. Election of 1876 was the end of reconstruction. Rutherford B. Hayes, republican, was running for president against Samuel J. Tilden, democrat. According to document K, Hayes won the election of 1876 because of three southern states didn't give him the electoral votes. South Democrats made a deal with Hayes to take away the military troops and Republicans from the south from then they would vote for Hayes this then lead to Jim Crow laws. Jim Crow laws were Laws made to enforce segregation of blacks from whites.

During the 1850s many problems started to arise within the government creating sectional tension within the country. Everything that caused an increase in the tension within the citizens of the United States, had happened pre-Civil War. Majority of the tension that emerged, came from sides being taken between the North and the South because of their difference in beliefs on slavery and state powers. Some of the events such as Fugitive Slave Act, Dred Scott Decision, and Brook’s attack on Charles Sumner caused the two regions to feel as if they had different interests. In the event of Bleeding Kansas, they even fought over political power in the country.

As I read our textbook, I drew parallels between the 2016 and 1980 Presidential elections. Carter suffered an embarrassing loss with only forty-nine electoral votes compared to Reagan's 489. Likewise, Hillary Clinton suffered a similar embarrassing loss with 232 electoral votes compared the Donald Trump's 306 electoral votes. President Carter instituted a policy of extreme detente, denouncing America's "inordinate fear of communism" (Gingrich Haley 2016, 166). This redirection of policy was in stark contrast policy makers highlighting the criminal nature of Communism.

During the establishment of the United States, the problems the founding fathers faced helped to form a constitution that is still followed to this day. Conditions of the country in the late 1700s and today are similar- debt, foreign threats, and unhappy people. But if the government today were to face a problem big enough to wreck the country, the United States would not be able to survive. It would not be possible to re-establish the government due to a divide among the people, the lack of dominant leaders, and the condition that the government is in.

After an intense race, John Adams won the election with 71 electoral votes and Jefferson beat out Pinckney with 68 votes. The debacles of this election will compound the way the candidates will undertake their roles in the next election.

The people who are campaigning with eahother spend, a extensive amount of money on their campaigning. Some of the money used to help with the campaigning is donated by people or by the political action committees (pac).

The Republicans of 1854 can best be described as a newly formed and freshly unprepared for the hardships, critics, and troublesome times of early American times and problems that were to come with a new and freshly made country. Then, you have the needs of the average Americans of 1854. These needs roughly summed up as less, yet more than today. The reason that I gave such a vague answer is because, in part, to explain that even that they had less needs, they had to have worked much harder at their life than we have to be today. Today we must , or may, rely on machinery more than anything else, but we must, on the other hand work even harder to maintain these machines.
