Do you read the book and compare it to the movie, or do you watch the movie and compare it to the book? I have read and watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone more times than I can count. The book allows you to accomplish your creative side and use your imagination to feel the places as well as the scenes. You can develop an image in your mind of what you predict a character will look like and how they will sound. There is no dissatisfactory acting so you can imagine it the way you want, anywhere you want. But how does the book compare to the movie? Will the music and special effects keep you interested? Can the movie fit everything from the book into two hours of excitement, or will it bore you and put you to sleep? With this in mind, let's discuss the similarities and differences of my all time favorite. First, when I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowland, I have to say that I enjoyed it thoroughly. The names of all the characters were spot on except for one named Peeves. He was not mentioned in the movie. The similarity in the age of the characters are close for the most part. They are very close to how they are described looking in the book as well as in the movie. In both …show more content…
Harry wears sneakers in the book, but in the movie he apprears to be wearing a pair of Timberland boots. Also, the Hogwarts students have many classes that include the History of Magic and Herbology, and Defense classes against the Dark Arts, but there is no mention of it in the movie. As mentioned earlier, Rowling writes that Harry speaks Parseltongue and releases a boa constrictor, but in the film, the snake at the zoo is a Burmese Python. During their fist flying lesson, a boy named Ron gets blasted in the face by his broom, but there is no mention in the book, although I think it should have been as it is
This is my writing assignment comparing The Outsiders movie and book. My favorite quote was“Stay gold Ponyboy” which means Do not go tuff and stay like yourself because you are once in a lifetime. My opinion of both the movie and the book are pretty good. The book was only a little better because it was longer and it had more parts on the other hand the movie you can hear and see more and feel more when you can actually picture it.
In my opinion there are a lot of comparisons between the film and the book, but there are also differences between them too, but also they have impacted the audience in both the film and the
One huge difference in the setting, in the book the story takes place on the shore of lake Michigan in a brand new apartment building in a small town. On the other hand the movie takes place old, run down apartment in the middle of a huge city. Another example is the characters, in the book there are 16 heirs with eight pairs. In the movie there are 10 heirs and 5 pairs. Also the movie leaves out some huge characters like Theo Theodorakis, Flora Baumbach, and
There are also a few similarities between the book and the movie like how Kenny almost drowns in both. Another thing that is in both the movie and the book is that Kenny sees a little girl trapped in the church. Also in both the book and the movie Kenny hides behind the couch. The bombing at the church happens in both the book and the movie. A big similarity is that in both the book and the movie Joey leaves the church before it blows up.
Many people, if asked what they would prefer, would prefer to read the book instead of watching the movie. It could be because the movie will always leave some parts from the story out. It seems like directors of the movie always leave out parts from the book, only incorporating the important parts from the story. Some also say that they prefer to leave the descriptions of things in the book up to their imagination. Also, when you are reading the book, you get to read the main characters point of view on things.
Yes, the basics of the plot are similar, but in the movie, there are changed details, mainly like missing scenes in the movie that the book originally had, or simplified events. In the movie, there was an additional girl character that was not in the book. The house Moon eventually came to at the end of the story was supposed to be a brick house. Some of the things the characters in the movie said were a bit different from what was said in the book. Things like that.
In the movie and book there were many similarities. One similarity was that there was the movie scene where they meet Cherry and
There are many movies and books that have tons of similarities and differences. I choosed A Series of Unfortunate Events, because of the nail biting moments that are in the book and movie. Plus, and you just want to know what happened. They both have many differences, but not many similarities. Some of the differences are very big changes and might make you like the other one more.
For example, in the book, when Inigo and Fezzik visit they have to go through many hardships in the Zoo of Death. Arabian Garstini, a very dangerous snake, is one of the animals in the Zoo of Death. Suddenly it starts coiling around them “and the fourth coil, the final coil, [coils around their] throat” which is terrifying. This builds a lot of tension and causes the readers to really get involved in the story. But, in the movie, there is no Zoo of Death and Fezzik and Inigo easily go inside the Pit of Despair.
There are many simularities and differences in the book and movie " The
Have you ever watched a movie based on a book that told the exact same story? To me, for some reason, books always seem to be the better one out of the two. I feel that in novels, the author develops the story with as many details as possible, while in movies that aspect doesn’t appear in the same way. There aren’t as many details in films since it has to last for a certain amount of time, but books can last for as many pages as the author would like them to. When I read, the fascinating novel “Beowulf,” I really enjoyed how the author made me use my imagination to create a picture of the world that the characters were living in.
“Ask any reader who has seen the movie version of a favorite novel, and the answer will usually be, "The book was better. " That 's because readers of a novel have already made their own perfect movie version” (Corliss et al., 2005). It would appear that Corliss is correct because many people who have read The Hunger Games book would say that it is better than the movie. Although the Hunger Games movie is entertaining, it is very different from the book.
In the end I found the film to be easier to understand vs the book as it was an easier and more straight forward plot line whereas in the book it seemed to jump around leading to constant flipping between stories and pages to get a better
I enjoyed the movie better than the book. It included just the right amount of action scenes, description words, and details from the story. The story was amazing but I like seeing things more than reading them. I usually like the movies better than the book.
