Contrary to the South, the North came to rely increasingly on trade than threshing due to their rocky soil and potation climate. Industry and Commerce became the focus of the North as many factories sprung up all over the North. The North had the wholesomeness in each of the categories that were based on population, number of soldiers, number of factories, and miles of railroad tracks (Doc. B). While the North was worldly-wise to provide them with a steady economy based on mass-production, factory work, and sophisticated ways to help transport manufactured goods, the South's economy was based on threshing and an wide-stretching transmission labor force. They needed a never-ending supply of workers who were cheap, so African Americans were their first choice.
Before the American Civil War, we struggled with the concept of slavery based on our economic and moral differences. People who lived in the North believed that slavery should be abolished since they did not grow crops that needed an abundance of slaves. Moreover, they thought that slaves should be treated like all human beings based on the constitution. On the other side, Americans who lived in the South thought slavery should not be abolished as their crops demanded twice as much work than the ones in the North; therefore, they needed much more workers working in their field and that’s where slaves came into view. They also thought that Africans were inferior because of their skin color and origin.
The American civil war began approximately seventy eight years after the revolution that formed the United States had been won. This war was the deadliest war the United States has fought to date, and served to resolve two important questions that lingered after the end of the revolution: would the U.S. be an indivisible nation with a sovereign national government, or a dissolvable confederation of sovereign states, and if a nation created upon the foundation that all men have an inalienable right to freedom would continue to be the largest slaveholding country in the world. This Civil war had many causes, the principle among them being sectional divisions over the spread of slavery into the territories, a series of failed slave compromises,

Primary to these secondary causes is the effect of territorial expansion and the tension it brought between the North and South. The vast economic differences between the North and South provided a perfect scenario for political and social conflict in the new territories. As the Western territory of the Americas continued to be explored, political debate was sparked over the spread of slavery into these newly created states.
The American civil war was a four year period of bloodshed on American soil due to the wars between the North and South. Arguably the main five causes of this catastrophe were: the economic and social differences between the North and the South, the fight between slave and non-slave state proponents as the South still wanted slavery to continue but the North wanted to abolish it , the growth of the Abolition Movement, the states versus federal rights and the election of Abraham Lincoln. However there were many more causes that led up to the American civil war like: The Underground Railroad and “the bleeding kansas”, a territory close to the state of Missouri where a lot of battles were fought. The South believed in an antiquated social
This was only one of the reasons that the North became riddled with extreme abolitionist movement. This caused the Southerners to be angry with the North. The quote, “I cannot but see what mischiefs their interference with the South has produced…” (Document 1) shows the animosity that was growing between the two. However, most Northerners didn’t want to entirely abolish slavery, simply restrict it to the South and ban it in the new territories.
