The United States Postal Service has been used for many years, sending mail far and near. It is still being used today. Dating back to the colonial times of America, mail was delivered by the Pony Express, today mail is being sent by cars, airplanes, and ships. Our country is long overdue for restructuring the USPS. The USPS should be restructured so they can gain revenue, still have convenience, and to keep up to date with developing technology. For the USPS to gain revenue, they must restructure the system. Making the USPS more modern would get more people ‘hooked’ on using the service. Today, companies and business advertise with coupons to get the public’s eye. “[Advertising] with coupons… [makes] people feel like there’s value added,” to the product. We live in a society of where adding discount to a product gives it more worth just as giving the USPS coupons (Doc A). Currently the USPS takes a long time to deliver packages, but creating a more flexible schedule would put an end to other companies who take a shorter amount of time to deliver. “Without [these] drastic changes, the mail agency will face even more staggering losses (Doc C).” …show more content…
There are many post offices all over the United States letting rural areas like the Ochopee Post Office in Florida deliver mail to people (Doc G). Expanding on locations all over the world will let some third world countries communicate conveniently. When one gets mail in one’s mailbox, one tends to keep the mail for sentiment value, rather than an email you get online. If one were to ask to pull up the mail, it would be easier to get than email. Someone in the future can pull it up and read it to understand ways the life and for sentimental value (Doc
The two most important problems which made the Articles of the Confederation a poor form of government stemmed from their lack of power; specifically their lack of power to collect taxes and lack of power to raise an army. These issues led to the creation of the Constitution and in turn led to more issues due to differences between Federalists and Antifederalists. To combat the new come issues, compromises were struck between the given groups within the government. These compromises were called the Great Compromise and the Three/Fifths Compromise.
After the independence of the United States was a good thing, but at the same time there were problems with the creation of the nation. First problems began with the Articles of Confederation because in 1777, the Articles of Confederation established a weak confederal Government that operated until 1789. The articles were a compilation of plans written by the Governors of each of the thirteen colonies. Although it was an important step toward unification successful, the weakness of those articles was giving no importance to all the problems of the young country. This document, however, would not be effective without the ratification of the thirteen States.
Perhaps the most famous Federalist paper, Federalist 10, starts off by saying that one of the biggest arguments that favors the Constitution is that it creates a government suited to minimize the harm caused by factions. Faction, in this case, is defined as a group of people whether a minority or majority based on class, race, and profession that all share a common interest. It was inevitable that factions would occur and perhaps the defining characteristic was the unequal distribution of property. This would ultimately lead the poor without property to become the majority in a “tyranny of the masses.” Madison believed that there were two solutions in preventing majority factions, 1) Remover the causes, and 2) Control the effects.
A customer may receive personalized coupons sent through U.S.P.S, through email where they can then send to their card, or by visiting a kiosk at the store. With the help of the coupons and ExtraCare Bucks that are earned by making certain purchases during a sales event, CVS Health’s front store or the retail section have increased sales by over 80% (Business). W-Weaknesses: The decision in February 2014, to remove all tobacco products and only sell smoking cessation products in the retail section of its stores, has caused CVS Health
In the 1930’s a group of government programs and policies were established under President Franklin D. Roosevelt, they were created with the intention to help the American people during The Great Depression. The Great Depression was a time were many banks failed, many businesses and factories went bankrupt, and millions of Americans are out of work, homeless, and hungry. Most New Deal programs gave American citizens economic relief, chances for employment and helped for the general good. The New Deal’s intention was to help Americans during these troubling times filled with economic uncertainty, and in that aspect, it was a success. After the New Deal was implemented, unemployment rates were gradually lowered.
From the failure of the Articles, should the new government, the Constitution, be approved? In 1788, the Constitution was created as the Articles of Confederation wasn’t successful and strong enough for their new government. During that time, a debate went throughout America about the Constitution whether to ratify it or not. Yes, the Constitution should be ratified because a Bill of Rights was promised, no one overpowered (in the government; checks and balances), and it is fair to both citizens and officials. Starting off, a bill of rights was promised which would ensure many things for the citizens.
1. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the chairmen of SCLC since he was one of the founders. He was also the face of the Civil Rights Movement and SNCC did not appreciate the way which SCLC used MLK’s image as a base for their income. They also had different approaches to the way which they wanted to tackle the issues. Most of the members of SNCC were students which gave them a different perspective than the members of SCLC.
The New Deal helped some Americans through the Great Depression, but it wasn’t until the U.S entered WWII against Japan and Germany that the economy finally escaped the the Great Depression. After Germany and Japan were defeated, the U.S.A and U.S.S.R (Russia) were the most powerful countries in the world (known as superpowers). The United States and the U.S.S.R fought allies through two worlds wars against Germany , but by the end of the Second War (1945) their relationships was falling apart. Conflicts arose in friendships.
The Great Depression was a time period in the United States from the late 1920s to early 1940s, marked by severe unemployment rates nationwide. It had many origins, most notably of which was the Stock Market Crash of October 29th, 1929, also known as “Black Tuesday.” The administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed the crippling unemployment and poverty rates of the Depression by establishing federal work programs to provide much-needed jobs to millions of Americans. Overall, however, this response was only marginally effective, because there was still rampant unemployment and discrimination throughout the duration of these programs. Through the establishment of these programs, the role of the federal government changed from a capitalist
5.1. Describe the types of mail services used in business organisations • Post Office Services – The post office service such as Royal Mail will often deliver and collection an organisations post, saving time and effort from staff having to take this to a collection point. A world without alcohol is hard to believe. Most of today 's society wouldn’t be able to wrap their head around it. In the United States prohibition was a nationwide ban on the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages it remained in place from 1920 to 1933. When the 18th amendment was passed in the year 1919 America was asking for chaos. With everything that affected the United States during prohibition, it is because of the increase in crime, weak enforcement, lack of respect for the law, and economic suffrage that the 18th amendment was repealed.
Beginning with President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s inauguration in 1933, the New Deal was passed in the context of reformism and rationalism as the United States proceeded through the Great Depression. The American people looked to the President to instill reform policies to help direct the country out of an economic depression, and thus often sought to abandon the society that existed before the Great Depression. Roosevelt instituted New Deal policies to attempt to combat this period of economic decline, many of which were successful and appealed to the American people’s desires. President Roosevelt’s New Deal is often criticized for being excessively socialistic in nature, thus causing dramatic changes in the fundamental structure of the United
I just don’t believe why they made The Stamp Act a thing. They made people poor. Some people weren’t even able to pay the taxes. They were put in jail because they couldn’t pay for the taxes. It’s just wrong to make people pay for PAPER.
Roosevelt was re-elected president of the United States (first time elected) in 1904 partly to break up trusts and monopolies. The public was outraged for decades by the ways trusts and monopolies were cheating in business. Roosevelt felt that the US government was responsible for the falls of many legitimate businesses, because they failed to prosecute trusts and monopolies (Roosevelt 222). As president, Roosevelt pledged to protect small businesses and sue monopolies and trusts by implementing the Sherman Antitrust Act to restore honest commerce and labor conditions. Railroad discrimination continued to exist when Roosevelt came into the presidency after President Mckinley’s assassination.
