Cynthia Ann Parker was born approximately around 1825 to Lucy and Silas M. Parker in Crawford County, Illinois (civilwarwomenblog.com). Parker was around the age of nine or ten when her family moved to Texas and built Fort Parker. They built a major wall to provide them with protection against natives, on the headwaters of the Navasota River (lone-star.net). Fort Parker was attacked on May 19, 1836 by Comanche, Caddo and Kiowa warriors. They killed most of the residents.

The Holocaust was a traumatic and horrendous time for those who suffered and perished. Learning and talking about the Holocaust to this day, is very hard to believe that it ever happened because of the cruel acts that were done to innocent people. ‘Annabel Lee’ by Edgar Allan Poe is an eminently beautiful yet tragic poem centred around the theme of a forbidden love between two people, and the many obstacles that they overcome in order to be together. In the essay “Agonism in the Academy” by Deborah Tannen, readers get the feeling that the author is writing to students and educators. This led to Tannen’s essay getting published in The Chronicle of Higher Education. As readers, we know that students and educators are who the author is writing to because Deborah Tannen’s main argument is to explain that there are better ways of learning. And one way she plans to solve agnostic learning, or to improve it, is to have students and educators explore new ways of learning like having an open discussion because a debate will just lead to another argument and won’t solve anything.

During this week, we have covered numerous topics, none more prominent than the oppression of women. Everyone had different opinions, allowing me to take into account different views on the issue. In one of the texts we examined, “Oppression”, Marilyn Frye, a philosopher, debates the subjugation of women. She states the cultural customs that causes oppression of women. I do agree with her view that women are oppressed, but I do not agree that it is just women.

And while she was a teacher she called for equal payment for both men and women. As men had "no more brains than women". She finally found out that women were the reason for that as they did not own any money. It was because at that time, husbands controlled everything that their wives had.

In her book she stated that “... women must be allowed to found their virtue on knowledge, which is scarcely possible unless they be educated the same pursuits as men” (Document D). She is telling us that women should also be educated like men do. In her book she is talking about how women should have their own reason and have an educations. Although they have common natural rights, they had different perspectives of how to deal with it.

She uses this to show that men and women are similar in looks, and should be treated with no difference. She goes on to say that a “robust women” would be better for a physical job than a “weak man.” Women aren’t given this chance, though, because women are best fit to be teachers and secretaries

- The goals of feminism is to show the importance of women and to bring gender equity. It also reveals that historical women have been subordinate to men, which is the reason why there are still some patriarchal societies in the modern setting.   - This literary piece is a great example of feminism.
