Describe The Four Apparitions In Macbeth's

In act 4 scene 1 where the witches reveal the desires of Macbeth he reacts to the apparitions through diction and dialogue. Shakespeare uses diction after each of the three apparitions to show Macbeth’s feelings. After the first apparition Shakespeare uses a relieved, confident, and not fully content diction to ultimately show how Macbeth feels after each apparition. Macbeth feels relieved when he is given a warning from the witches because it confirms his prior thoughts and beliefs about Macduff. Macbeth says to the witch, “Thou hast harped my fear aright.”

This extract is from Act 4 Scene 1 of the acclaimed play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare is one of the greatest writers of English literature in the history. He is famous for his poetries, quotes, tragic and comedy plays. We must assume that some of his writings on misery and warmth were a reflection of his own life experience. Love and marriage in his plays always ended miserably and symbolized as tragedies, or full of unnecessary disputes on trivial issues.

However, when they are telling Banquo his prophecies, he chooses not to act upon it, and the prophecy of his children becoming kings never comes true. In Act 4, Scene 1, the witches show Macbeth a line of eight kings; the last one with a mirror in his hands, followed by the ghost of Banquo. On the other hand, this prophecy never comes true because Banquo never acts upon it. In the play Macbeth, Banquo says, “May they not be my oracles as well,/And set me up in hope? But hush, no more.”

The first example is in Act 5, scene 8 when Mabeth learns that Macduff was not born of a woman. He curses him for telling him that and he blames the witches for their word games and raising his hopes then destroying them. Next, is Act 5 scene 5, when Macbeth is talking to Seyton and explains to him how he no longer fears the normal things that he once did. Because of his evil deeds he has done nothing can startle him now, in other words he has become numb. Lastly, in Act 3 scene 4.

Macbeth come across the three witches, there they state, “All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor” (Act 1, Scene 3). In reply to the three witches, Macbeth demanded “stay you imperfect speakers! Tell me more”. With just these few statements announced, Macbeth’s thirst for power and glory arises and is clearly seen.

A villain- a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot. Macbeth’s greed for power is what shaped him to be the villain in the play. In Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, despite the good Macbeth had done in the very beginning his actions throughout make him the villain.

Finally, the vision of a bloody dagger that emerged right before the murder emboldened Macbeth to kill King Duncan. Prior to murdering Duncan, Macbeth was hesitant about following through with his wife 's merciless task. He doubted that he was able to murder one of his most loyal friends, until he saw the vision. On page 43, Act II, scene I, Macbeth sees the apparition: "Is this a dagger that I see before me with its handle turned to my hand?" Macbeth contemplates whether it is a figure of his imagination prompted on by his already guilty conscience, or a supernatural encounter that is compelling him to do the deed.

Macbeth states “I had else been perfect,Whole as the marble, founded as the rock”(2.4.23-24) banquo 's death has Macbeth reflection about his old self and how he used to be a strong man with free will and now he 's reduced to a man who 's easily manipulated almost like a shell of his former self. This scene establishes that Macbeth is no longer the man he used to be he a ghost of his former self.

In our world, manipulation takes place in everyday life as a natural impulse for both men and women. In Macbeth, manipulation is centralized around the mask of ambition displaying dominance over humanity. Certainly the witch’s, Lady Macbeth, and our fallen hero Macbeth become puppets of Manipulation it self. Consequently the witch’s power to influence decision-making causes the initial deterioration of Macbeth, along with Lady Macbeth’s influential desire for the throne, and thus Macbeth use of manipulation to create a new embodiment of a mask suffused in ambition for his own cruel deeds.

The voices he hears that threaten: “Macbeth shall sleep no more” indicate a relationship between guilt and madness. Therefore, the manifestation of the dagger suggests that he feels guilty because of his attempt to murder Duncan. There are three major transitions of thought. First, he contemplates about the dagger’s existence; the second is the invocations of dark images; finally, there is the bell that cuts off Macbeth’s contemplations. The Three Kings In Shakespeare’s, Macbeth, King Duncan states,“There’s no art To find the mind’s construction in the face” (1.4.12-13). People want a king who will tell them everything he can and will not betray them in a second. King Duncan would be honest to his county. He would not kill people, unlike Macbeth.

“Come you spirits/ That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here/ And fill me from the crown to the toe topfull/ Of direst cruelty; make thick my blood,/ Stop up th’ access and passage to remorse.” (1.5.38-42). In William Shakespeare's play Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is asking the spirits to make her like a man, make her cruel, and not allow her to feel remorse so she can have the strength for King Duncan's murder. On many separate occasions that Lady Macbeth reveals the spirits inside her.

A story of tragedy is not uncommon with William Shakespeare and his works of prose. In his plays, death and despair is more likely than honor and prosperity. This is an included facet to Macbeth as well, having sinister themes of greed, manipulation, and brutality. Macbeth, by the infamous playwright, Shakespeare, presents us with multiple aspects factoring into whether the main character controls his actions that lead to the tragic events.
