Rodney King Riots Protest Movement Paper On April 29, 1992, A week of non stop urban violence and mayhem erupted in the streets and cities of Los Angeles, the riots were commenced by the unjust trial that let the four white police officers set free of any charges. All four officers were captured on videotape beating on a black motorist named, Rodney King after a traffic stop gone wild. The Rodney King riots impacted society greatly by presenting the nations people with an understanding of how racism was still present in america. A reminder that "justice for all" was still a long way off being set in stone and to followed by most people.

One of the more charged debates at this time in Minnesota is the actions of Police officers. In the past couple of years, Minnesota police have made headlines in incidents such as the deaths of Jamar Clark, Philando Castile, and most recently, Justine Damond. This has created a distrust of the police force that shouldn’t be there and can be fixed. This past summer, I went on a mission trip to Detroit, where I was blown away by what I saw and heard. I learned about the past in Detroit, which is plagued by racism and police brutality, most notably in the riots of 1967.

History of Organization Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) was founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith in Akron, Ohio, and is a spiritual based organization with the sole purpose “to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety” threw fellowship. Alcoholic Anonymous (A.A.) foundation is built on a 12 step program that involves taking 12 step that will guarantee your sobriety (according to A.A.) because you start the 12 steps but you never end, it is designed for you to consistently work the 12 steps for the rest of your life to remain sober. My mission and interest in life is to bring joy to those who are less fortunate than myself by attending an annual mission trip through American Reformed Church. Currently, I have traveled to Tahlequah, OK and Myrtle Beach, SC and have had major takeaways from each one of those trips which have left a significant impact on my life as well as those that I have served. While some may attend these mission trips for a sense of recognition and good reputation, my purpose, on the other hand, is to make a difference in people’s lives. One of the biggest issues facing this great nations citizens and even some of our war hero veterans, is that of being homeless. As well as residing in poor income housing and very poor conditions. With the number of homes and land available throughout the country, and the majority of it being owned by private interest and banks is an outrage. If we do not deal with homelessness and poverty, we may end up like Detroit, Michigan.

The Detroit Race Riot of June-July 1943 always had the question mark as to what the cause was for the riots. It has also been known as the “biggest and bloodiest race riots in the history of the United States” of America. A review that was completed by Welfred Holmes reveals some information from the book with the title: The Detroit Race Riot: A Study in Violence by Robert Shogan, and Tom Craig. The information that came to the fore was that the book explained the build-up to the riots as it occurred at least one year before the event. It was revealed that the morale of the Black people (Negroes as the book calls them) was very low.

How Oklahoma City Became the Capital of Oklahoma Many people know the Oklahoma’s state flower is the Oklahoma Rose, the state animal is the buffalo, and the state flag honors the state’s Native American heritage by including an Osage warrior’s shield with an olive branch, a peace pipe, and seven eagle feathers on a blue background. Additionally, many people know that official salute is: “I salute the flag of the State of Oklahoma. Its symbols of people unite all people.” But how many people know that a vote in 1910 determined that the state capital should be moved from Guthrie to what was then known as Oklahoma Station, which since 1923 is known as Oklahoma City?

Joseph Fredrick Sparrow is a senior at Northside High school. He is enrolled in many activates including the Northside tennis team, Northside Vocal Ensemble, Loudon Avenue Youth Praise Team and Jr. Usher Board, and is a part of the pulpit secessions committee. He is planning on attending The University of Tennessee to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a Minor in Music. He has been involved in the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir for five years and has really enjoyed his time with them. He has experience once in a lifetime performances and had made memories that will last forever.

There are many who have neglected keeping track of their ministry via journaling. Failing to do so, many do not have record of certain experiences from which they learned valuable lesson. Journaling allow one to be transparent when recording or reflecting on events. It should be noted that it is not the same as a personal journal. This is a collection of various ministry experiences.
