Women between 20 years old to 24 years old are more likely to experience domestic violence (Domestic Violence: Statistics & Facts, 2015). Around 4 million women experience rape and physical assaults by their partners (Domestic Violence: Statistics & Facts, 2015).

Abuse is an act that happens throughout society that should not be taken lightly. There are two major categories for these actions, either physical or emotional. In most cases when somebody is abused, it is usually both types of abuse. Personally to me, I feel that physical abuse is worse than emotional abuse based on long-term effects, scars, and pain. On average, twenty people are physically abused by their partner per minute.

This horrible act can happen in a variety of ways. The abuse can be physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, and economical. Domestic violence is a pervasive problem that is among everyone everywhere. Even if you have not been involved in domestic violence, you may know someone who is or has been affected by it. It is important to note that Intimate Partner Violence can happen in both men and women; however, it is more prevalent in women. It is very difficult to determine the presence of Intimate Partner Violence because several of the victims choose to remain silent about their attacks.
