The speech of Donald Trump
The worst speech of Donald happened when he delivered his new inaugural speech as the new president . There was no emotion in his speech. It gives a bad impression as every words he was saying made him lose his credibility before the Americans. As a president, he should have made the Americans trust him. He was considered to be the focal point of the presidential campaign by saying horrific, inflammatory and derogatory things on immigrants, women and minorities. All these feelings towards their president may make the voters angry and dissatisfied. As a president, he does not listen to anyone on his campaign team who will tell him to do less rhetoric. In addition, there should be a proper arrangement of the structure of an argument. Moreover, style is important as it determines how to present an argument while using rhetorical techniques hence, adequate words should be chosen in order to have the greatest impact on the audience. It is better to memorise the speech in order to make it sound natural and afterward, for the delivery of the speech it is fundamental to make effective use of voice and and body language. Body language plays a vital role in public speaking, to make the audience feel comfortable and interested in the speech, a relaxed and upright posture should be adopted. However, lack of conviction or tension are felt by the audience. It is essential not to grib to the lectern like Melania Trump does. As a new speaker, she trapped herself behind the podium and this creates a psychological barrier between her and the audience. This does not help to establish connection with the audience or make them interested in the message. Despite Melania Trump talked behind a lectern, it will be a good idea that she stepped away from the away occasionally. Movement allows the speaker to attract the attention of the listeners. Hand gestures are important like the arms should be relaxed at the sides. This shows
However, there is still another layer to FDR's speech which is delivery. With FDR’s structure and words combined he was able to deliver the speech and convey confidence. FDR’s language was to the point. According to the article Rhetoric Revisited: FDR’s “infamy” Speech, “Roosevelt prided himself on using direct language” and while this causes his language to become bland, in this speech it highlighted important words and phrases needed to get his point across to the audience
However, he was not successful in delivering a very persuasive speech as his speech was disorganized and he expressed next to no emotion in his tone.
While re-watching some of Donald Trump’s speeches that he gives during his “Presidential campaign”, I noticed just how much he uses Aristotle’s three appeals. This method are both hurting and helping him at the same time. He uses pathos or the emotional appeal quite frequently. Donald has a specific target audience that he appeals to when he says that he is speaking to America. I feel as if his demographic is older white people who feel as if their country is no longer what it used to be.
Emotional words Bush uses were “peace and security,””prayer,” and these words are meant to touch the hearts of all Americans that were hurt by this tragedy. Logical words that Bush uses were,” freedom and opportunity,””America.” Bush’s language affects because he used words that would help America get through this hard, tragic time. This speech lets citizens know that whoever was responsible would have major
Ronald Reagan was born in the year of 1911 in Illinois. Reagan’s first career choice had nothing to do with government and politics. He actually decided to be an actor. He was extremely successful and was featured in many films. He married his first wife, an actress, Jane Wyman and had two kids
With the importance of the speech, and the amount of effort it required to write this speech perfectly, I’m sure he wouldn’t want to mix it up in any way. This style of delivery is not the style I would prefer to listen to, but I’m sure it was appropriate for a president, especially at that time. Something to keep in mind is the cold weather he gave the speech in. Speaking in such cold weather could have made a difference in his tone and delivery style. He appeared very confident and in a position of power and respect.
Given that he spoke for the American people, he implies that as a nation, we have had to make some difficult choices, but, yet we make those decisions with courage and determination that keeps us united. This is one of the many points that highlights his speech. Giving positive and strong statements adds strength to his speech which keeps his audience occupied with his words. Hence, it is very important that audience is listening and comprehending what is being
Speeches have been a main staple of political rhetoric that goes has been America’s history. There have been memorable speeches from passionate citizens such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Sojourner Truth, and many speeches from our past presidents that have influenced America today. One such speech was given by President Bill Clinton when he addressed the American public on September 11 in 1998 to answer for a moral scandal that took place in the nation’s capital that involved himself and Monica Lewinsky, an intern working at the White House. When called to speak about the internal affair at the White house Clinton gave a memorable speech in which he used clever and strategic language to illicit certain feelings and actions from his unhappy crowd. His mastery of language and his understanding of the people he was speaking to comes through in one intentional speech.
Bush made his speech on September 11, 2001 he spoke outright to America. He spoke to citizens, victims, families that have lost their loved ones and military families that have their life on the line. Bush gave his country strength when there was a dire need for it. His speech was filled with rhetorical devices that brought peace to the chaos that riddled the country. Bush’s use of anaphora, homily and antithesis gave faith, wisdom and harmony to the country.
Without a good way of speaking to people, a speech-bearer will not get the message across in the desired fashion. America likes to be fed information and likes to hear and feel the passion in others rather than creating less public and unified little passions in themselves. Citizens like to hear their leaders interpretations and feel a sense of grouping from that, therefore most people will not have read the way Obama’s eulogy was written and analyzed it, but watched him read it and felt the rigor in his voice and therefore found a better sense of understanding. Things tend to make more sense to people when conveyed by someone they look to for guidance rather than when broken down themselves.
His speech that was broadcasted to the entire world highlighted everything America needed at this time of grief, and will forever be remembered. In the introduction of Bush’s speech, he describes the despicable acts of terror our country witnessed that day. Bush shows his compassion for those affected by the attacks. He knew he could not repair what had been done, but he knew we could fight back.
It was important that Bush use rhetorical appeals such as ethos, pathos, and logos in his address to the nation. He also needed to use the hope and history on which America was built on to unite the
Defending allies and interests, showing purpose without arrogance, meeting aggression with resolve and strength, and speaking for American values are all ideals that the American people can unanimously agree upon. In conclusion, George W. Bush was able to give a meaningful speech. Bush gave an effective inaugural address by using biblical allusions, collaborative language, and an anaphora in order to unite the country after a contentious election. His rhetoric added value to his speech and made it one to remember.
Also, Clinton did not stay at the podium the whole time when he was speaking. He walked back and forth. This strategy was successful to him because it showed
In his inauguration speech, he motivated and inspired his audience using his well thought arguments and passionate tone, as well as his use of rhetorical strategies. Donald Trump is usually thought of as a powerful speaker partly due to his arguments. In his speech, his points were clearly laid out and easy to grasp. One such argument that he uses is America’s current state in both economy and general state of being, as he clearly states when he says, “We 've made other countries
